Baal HaSulam. “Study of the Ten Sefirot” (TES). Vol. 1. Part 3. Chapter Nine. #1 (“Adam Kadmon is as Keter to the Eser Sefirot in” (00:01)
1. R. (02:55) Meaning the division is the same, there are always five parts just now they get additional names: Shoresh, Neshama, Guf, Levush, Heichal. You can forget about it and use the other names as usual: Keter, Hochma, Bina, ZA, Malchut and it won’t be a mistake or anything just sometimes we use those and sometimes we use the other names, in order to be more specific to where they are and what we are talking about.
2. S. (03:35) How does the Kabbalist attain the connection between as we say that everything is attained in connection, how does he find so many details in it, in depth, in width, how does that happen?
R. There is nothing difficult about it because that is how it clarifies in the vessels of the Kabbalists; the upper light that’s before is revealed more and more in your vessels that you open your vessels and resemblance to the upper light, in according to that the upper light can be revealed In your vessel and then you attain, and for you it becomes simple. Just now that what you see before you in your senses that’s how you discover what is revealed to you through the upper light.
3. S. (04:44) He says that the AK and ABYA in the worlds are connected to each other. What does that mean that they connected to each other as the upper Adam?
R. That we are all connected into one structure.
S. Meaning in the quality of bestiwal they are all connected?
R. Yes.
Reading continues Item 2: “The collective of the souls in AK…
4. R. (05:58) So, instead of root, soul, body, garment, hall you can just say 1 2 3 4 5. That is how they are divided like all things, just like towards the souls, towards the worlds and towards the lights; it is all divided into five, because the will to receive what they revealed is divided into five parts.
Reading item 3 (06:23)
5. R. (06:56) So we can keep speaking more and more and more about all the details.
Reading Item 3 continues: (07:05) “also all the phases of the body…”
Reading item 8 (07:48)
6. S. (08:43) We learned in the previous chapters that the Keter, crown is a medium between the emanator and the emanator being.
R. In a Keter you have a lot of discernments, also between the emanator and the emanated.
S. So, he wrote before that Hochma in each world are the souls.
R. It doesn’t matter, don’t pay attention to it.
S. Can you explain what the Neshama, soul, is in regards to the Keter?
R. Neshama can be used as the light of Hassadim. Neshama we can speak about as the vessel that is a vessel in the degree of Bina. Neshama is usually something internal in the will to receive that is prepared to connect to the Creator. That word has a lot of roles.
S. But In relation to Keter that has half of the emanator and half of the emanated being what is a soul?
R. Receives from the Keter, connects to the Keter.
S. Is it a completely emanated being?
R. Yes, it’s in the emanated being of course but it has a root in Keter.
Reading item 9 (10:40)
7. R. (11:42) Meaning he just wants to give an order how from above down the in each and every degree we have five discernments and then in all the discernments we have the Shoresh, Neshama, Guf, Levush, Heichal, and we have that in all of the worlds, root, soul, garment, body, hall. And, in our world and so on, just like we say: Roots 1 2 3 4, that can be in any Partzuf, in any world. The names can be the same names.
Reading item 10 (12:22)
8. R. (12:35) SNGLH is initials for Shoresh, Neshama, Guf, Levush, Heichal. YHNRN is Yechida, Haya, Neshama, Ruach, Nefesh meaning the lights of KHB ZON. So, SNGLH we can say it’s instead of KHB ZON, that’s how we use it instead of KHB, ZA and Malchut, and the lights that is in it is Yechida, Haya, Neshama, Ruach, Nefesh; YHNRN, it is just initials, there’s nothing special about it, and this is how it keeps going.

Reading item 11 (14:30)
Reading item 12 (15:24)
9. R. (17:20) Yes, this is clear to us that everything is divided into 5 and 5 and 5 and so on until Infinity, just the names so we can give different discernments so that it’ll be clear what we are speaking about.
10. S. (17:44) How does the YKVK, these five phases attain each time from their unity or some discrete way?
R. When we attain it, we attain on the same degree all those discernments together. There is no Bit in spirituality , it is a law: There is no partial in spirituality. Meaning you cannot attain a half, that is why we attain only ten Sefirot “Ten and not nine, ten and not 11” .
11. S. (18:38) He writes all of this to us so that we know what we are talking about, but here in item eight he writes that the lights of Assya are Nefesh, and in item ten he writes that the light of Malchut of Atzilut is called Nefesh. Then he also writes that Nefesh is whole, that all of that is Nefesh, how do i know what is about then?
R. So get confused, there’s no problem, be confused.
S. So what is the issue here?
R. The issue is that in each and every place there are five discernments called NRNHY or KHB ZON or AK and ABYA or SNGLH. There are a lot of names in order to depict in what state you’re speaking about but all in all, there are always five parts in any whole perception.
12. S. (19:56) In item ten he writes that the Nefesh is called Heichal. Can the Nefesh include all the soul in, is it a Kli the Nefesh?
R. The hall, Heichal is usually called Malchut, Kingdom which is the vessel to reveal the state, revealing the Creator.
S. Ok, it includes all of the components that we are reading about now basically?
R. Malchut includes everything, organizes everything and with its reflected light can attain everything.
S. Tell me in general as a student of Kabbalah let say that we have this soul that he is talking about or we have to attain it?
R. It is two different things: On one hand it can be that we have it, on the other hand we might not have attained it yet.
S. So we have to retain it?
R. Yes.
S. By the connection?
R. By everything that we are learning.
13. S. (21:13) How could we depict what is light and attainment and the connection that is between us?
R. When everything becomes clear and everyone is connected. That each and everyone participates in all his forces in the connection between everyone to give this Creator contentment.
14. S. (21:43) All the types of connections between us can be either individual or collective?
R. Yes.
S. What is this discernment here?
R. That you will know the difference between the individual and the collective. You can always ascribe yourself to the collective.
Reading item 13 (22:12)
15. R. (24:55) I also wanted to talk about what we see now on the screen, there is a nice guy there who is wearing a shirt with all kinds of symbols, what does he wants to say by that I don’t know, but it’s not accepted with us to appear like that, yes it’s you waving, i hope there’s no issue for you having a different shirt just a regular shirt with a regular color, you see. Otherwise everyone thinks that you’re trying to advertise something and that’s not good. We are only advertising the connection between us so try and change it for tomorrow, show us you are with us, with everyone.
16. S. (26:02) about the Study of TES, You say that when we study TES, when I read with everyone I tried to ask for the friends and today I felt that this request disappears and I am escaping somewhere, and I have this sort of fear that i cannot hold on to that, is that the fear we talked about in the first part of the lesson, is this something similar?
R. In the first part of the lesson we talked about fear, awe, that we won’t be able to be connected and aim ourselves to the Creator. Here it’s a bit different, it’s a less of a degree, but all and all from this we also get to the Creator.
17. S. (27:18) Can I ask a technical question? Why do we skip some items?
R. We are going through the first time all of TES in order to give you a general impression of what it is speaking about that will not stop you from speaking about spiritual attainment, also it will not prevent you from generally understanding all of reality if you want to study deeper so you can go deeper please. But there is no real need for it, especially now with what we are studying. There will be many parts of TES that for now we will not even go through. It belongs to a lot of details in Part 4 and the whole fifth part of TES we do not study to begin with and then we will learn that there are parts that we will not study. It will not stop you from attainment, as usual in every wisdom that you study the first time you study it you only study things that you can absorb and use in order to keep going. Baal HaSulam wrote TES in a way that it flows from the beginning of creation until the final correction and that is how we go through it and there are things that are not essential to go into now because we cannot absorb them now that is why we just go through them and later on we will go back to it if we have a second chance then we will go over all of TES. We will do it in the right way, don’t worry, in the whole complete way, this world, the next world I promise. What else do we have?
18. S. (29:48). Who is the upper Adam and what is it with respect to Adam HaRishon?
R. The upper Adam is what we attain as our correct form of connection and Adam HaRishon is the structure of all of reality that the Creator is establishing and through it managing us.
19. S. (30:25) How does the Hey of Beria become the Hey of Assiya?
R. Hey of Beria becomes Hey of Assiya hey is the way we call Malchut the Sefira, so Malchut in the world of Beria and Malchut in Assiya it’s a big difference. Malchut used for the vessels of bestowal is in Beria and Malchut used for vessels of reception is in Malchut.
20. S. (31:07) Does the body actually mean desire?
R. The body or Guf is a desire, yes.
21. S. (31:23) Is the building of the world something we can feel in the ten?
R. Yes, when we attain the world of Assiya we already attain somewhat the structure of the worlds.
22. S. (32:10) First when we used to learn TES you would mention and remind us a lot about the intention. Now it looks like we are going through material that we can understand and feel. Why is it like that? Because we ourselves have to maintain the intention?
R. Of course you have to hold the intention constantly if you want you should speak or think of how the friends should not disconnect from the right intention, that should be the prayer in each and every one, what do I need in the middle of the studies to mention that to you all the time to remind you? You are not children anymore, write it down. I had it written down in all kinds of places not to forget the intention. This and that and then I would remember I would go back to it, try it. If a person will not be concerned about himself nobody will. Nobody.
S. When you learned, would Rabash give you some advice on how to exercise the intention?
R. He didn’t mention it in any word, we were speaking between us about intentions and connection a lot and with him it was not like that. You start the lesson, you read, you close the book and you go home. That is it. You had to prepare yourself in advance for the lesson and afterwards according to that advance. That is it.
S. Intention, preparation, okay, but can there be a difference between the parts of the lesson when we talked about things that are clearer and less clear or do we need a stronger intention at the end?
R. The same intentions need to be from the beginning to the end always about the connections between us and the Creator.
