Part 2:

Baal HaSulam. Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah. #166

Reading Item twice #165 (00:35)

1. R. (04:16) What do we see here? That indeed everything works and gradually gets diminished relative to the first surrounding of AK and above Tabur and below Tabur and also till the Sium where the lights are diminished and the vessels feel it.

2. S. (04:53) What does it mean that there is no GAR in the Partzuf? We learn that each Partzuf even when the Kabbalist arrives from below up there’s always the first three GAR.

R. It’s clear that all the elements exist in every Partzuf but the fact that below Tabur we don’t have any lights of Haya, Yechida, even Neshama that’s because we lack the vessels for them, we lack vessels. All the big vessels remain above the Tabur.

S. What is this division we have in Tabur between Atzilut and the worlds of BYA, what occurs there? What kind of division do we have here? There is this gradual bestowal of light or just a division?

R. It all depends on the vessels, it all depends on the vessels. Therefore vessels that are above the Tabur and vessels that are below the Tabur divide the light into two parts, GAR and ZAT.

3. S. (06:30) Is it possible to say regarding the first part, that in the worlds of BYA there is the sensation of the reality of the created being but the diminishment of the sensation of love?

R. Yes, yes.

4. S. (06:49) What does it mean because five Partzufim of the world of Atzilut?

R. Five Partzufim.

S. Yes, but it says that they stand below the Tabur of AKAtzilut isn’t above? How can it be below?

R. Hold on, hold on, calm down. From the general Tabur which is Tabur of Galgalta and below we’re starting to have places for the worlds of Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, and Assiya and above Tabur of Galgalta there it’s the place for the world of AK.

S. All right so they end above the Parsa below down to this world. What is this world that he refers to here?

R. This world is how we call the reality that exists below the Sium of all the Partzufim of sanctity.

S. So how as he explains here that they stand on the worlds of BYA, the permanent state of the worlds of AK?

R. Above Tabur of AK you have all the Partzufim of Adam KadmonGalgalta, AB, SAG, upper MA, BON. Below Tabur of AK we have the Partzufim of the world of Atzilut which is KeterHochma, Bina, ZA, Malchut of Atzilut. You can use other names, Atik, Arich Anpin, Aba ve ImaYESHSUT, BON. This is all the way down to the Parsa and then below the Parsa you have a place that’s divided between the worlds of Beria, Yetzira and Assiya.

S. Precisely this is what I wanted to ask. The system operates automatically, something from above or we’re involved?

R. The vessels divide the entire desire, from Ein Sof down to this world the vessels divide this desire into portions, parts. So you have a division from Ein Sof down to the general Tabur, Tabur Galgalta. From Tabur Galgalta down to the Parsa and from the Parsa down to the Sium.

5. S. (10:01) We’re talking about the stage of correction. What in the rising of the worlds allows for the correction after the shattering?

R. When the broken vessels are incorporated in the corrected vessels and they cause by that an ascent.

S. Is it possible to expand more?

R. No, expansion is later, we’re not in it.

6. S. (10:43) I wanted to ask why, how, what is the reason for the worlds of BYA, why did they emerge? It’s not explained why, how, when like Atzilut it’s very clear on the point of Reshimot why it emerged, why and what its purpose is. BYA suddenly appears and it’s not clear what these worlds are there for.

R. The worlds of ABYA are worlds that exist below the general Tabur Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, and Assiya. Atzilut is in the place of vessels of bestowal, below that are the vessels that belong to the world of Beria, 2/3 of the general Tifferet, then you have vessels of NHY and vessels of Malchut. Everything clothes on the ten Sefirot of Galgalta.

S. And they’re actually part of the system that was meant to correct the system of Nekudim?

R. It’s all the same, it emerges from the same cause and it works for the same goal.

S. One more question Atzilut came from the Reshimot of root, what did Assiya emerge from?

R. Atzilut came out on Shoresh and Aleph but later it was an addition during the ascents, also like these worlds Beria, Yetzira, and Assiya. We will learn about this momentarily.

7. S. (12:50) Rav, a bit of a general question. We learn that the Creator wants to do good to his created beings, we know we have to turn reception into the bestowal to adhere to the Creator. Is it correct to read the text and to try to find these things in the text?

R. Which?

S. Let’s say this that the Creator wants to do good to his created beings. Can I try to find it in the text that we read?

R. Each and every moment when you read something you bump into such actions.

S. So we’re searching for ourselves, what we feel during the work in the text?

R. No, we can’t feel ourselves yet in those actions. The created beings are not in it just yet, it’s simply the root for the next generation of created beings.

S. So what can I take from the text?

R. You can learn from the vessels because they also have an illumination on us.

S. I feel all the time that it’s interesting to me what’s happening here but I feel that it’s in my intellect only and that’s not where..?

R. Try also not only in your mind but in your feeling to accept it.

8. S. (14:16) I heard before that everything goes and diminishes but I thought everything goes and multiplies and increases, that we’re looking for more and more to bestow.

R. But with respect to the vessels the vessels are gradually diminishing.

S. In what?

R. In what, in their screens.

S. They’re not renewing more opportunities for bestowal all the time?

R. Yes but that’s nevertheless because they elaborate all their great vessels into smaller and smaller vessels.

S. So the diminishment is in what?

R. Not in quantity but in the quality of the vessels, the diminution of the generations as we call it. The more we continue the vessels become smaller and smaller, the screens become smaller, the lights become smaller.

S. To what extent, what is the peak of the diminishment?

R. The peak of diminution, it’s hard to say. The last generations will be the smallest but they complete the development and because they sign off on everything they have a great role.

9. S. (16:12) Before Atzilut and Beria emerged all the lights were above the Tabur and everything below the Tabur was in surrounding light?

R. Let’s say, it’s not important, what do you want to ask?

S. If that same surrounding light from all the worlds of Atzilut and Beria emerged?

R. No, no, not like that.

10. S. (16:52) Why in the worlds of BYA first took place, were created, and then the world of Nekudim was created immediately?

R. It replaces even then because a place means higher vessels. What do you mean no? Higher vessels. When you have the first Zivug, the first coupling on phase four of Rosh of Galgalta that determines for you the order of all the parts of Galgalta that would later be filled with the worlds, Partzufim.

S. Why is the emphasis here on the worlds of BYA places, why doesn’t it just say that the worlds were born?

R. So read it that the worlds were born, so what? There’s a question of when they advance, when they expand what do they fill? Who influences them from above, who from below, that’s all important.

S. Another question here, the surroundings he talks about at the end of 165, surroundings of AK, these lights are vessels.

R. I didn’t get it.

S. He talks about the surroundings of AK, that there was no GAR in any part of the system on the surroundings of AK. Is he referring to lights or vessels?

R. We’ll learn about it but typically it speaks of lights.

S. Isn’t surrounding light all the infinite light that hasn’t entered the vessel?

R. The light of Ein Sof is also called surrounding light relative to all the vessels of straightness, the direct vessels but there are additional ones. Relative to every vessel you have an inner and a surrounding light.

S. I’m asking because how can something be lacking in the surrounding? If the GAR doesn’t enter inwards isn’t it in the surrounding?

R. Yeah.

S. How can it be that in the surrounding of AK that they also don’t have GAR, I don’t understand.

R. No, don’t have GAR, it’s not like that. It means that in surrounding light there is no GAR or ZAT, they don’t expand in regular vessels they expand in vessels of circles, that’s why they lack GAR.

S. What does that mean?

R. That they lack a screen and reflected light and reception and bestowal like with regular vessels.

S. These terms don’t catch on to them?

R. Yes they don’t apply there, there’s not enough power.

S. He talks here also about the Partzufim of Atzilut and the Partzufim of Beria, how we also have five Partzufim of AK. Is that something whole, complete?

R. Partzufim of AK? I don’t understand what you mean.

11. S. (20:25) The five Partzufim of AK.

R. Five Partzufim of AKGalgalta, AB, SAG, MA and BON.

S. That’s something on its own?

R. Those are Partzufim that exist above the general Tabur.

S. I want to understand. Now there’s an attitude to BYA as something so BYA exists below the general Tabur. We talk about five Partzufim of AK, there’s always four of five. Is ABYA four of five and there is also Atzilut that’s discerned on its own and at BYA is seen as separate. I want to understand the connection, as if Atzilut and BYA have something in common to them and not just Atzilut on its own.

R. They belong to the same place and that’s below Tabur of AKAtzilut above the Parsa, below the Parsa is Beria, Yetzira and Assiya.

12. S. (21:43) How can we rise above the Tabur?

R. Who is he speaking of, about us?

S. I guess?

R. I have no idea, and I think it doesn’t, it’s not mentioned anywhere else.

13. S. (22:09) What is Peh in spirituality?

R. Peh in spirituality is a place of the Zivug, the coupling, the connection.

14. S. (22:28) We learn now about the system of the worlds, it’s not clear how to relate to Galgalta because it’s seemingly a Partzuf but it’s in the size that includes all the worlds?

R. That’s how it is, the upper Partzuf always includes all the Partzufim that are below it, also Galgalta which is the upper most Partzuf, the first one, also includes all the Partzufim of all the worlds.

S. So it’s not a Partzuf but..?

R. It is a Partzuf except it’s so big, yes.

S. So what’s the difference, why by definition is it a Partzuf and not similar to the other Partzufim?

R. It’s the first Partzuf, it has no restrictions on it, it is above everything, the first restriction starts from it and below, and that’s how we relate to it as the first; and all the other Partzufim clothe on him and it fills Partzufim.

S. It’s clear that it’s first and that it’s a Partzuf is seemingly clear but why is it bigger than AK, Adam Kadmon, which is the first world?

R. Galgalta is the first Partzuf that is included in the world of Adam Kadmon.

S. It’s not so clear.

R. Okay, read some more.

15. S. (24:25) Our world is somewhat included of the actions we read about in TES?

R. No.

S. So who lives this, the person, the ten?

R. We live it.

S. Does the world know what we do, what does that mean?

R. I don’t know what you are referring to by ‘world’?

S. We’re learning now about actions, right, in the study of TES?

R. Whose?

S. Of who?

R. Yes, whose?

S. Of the Creator towards the created being?

R. That’s correct.

S. So where do we start here to feel these actions?

R. In our desire, perhaps.

S. So it all begins in the connection in the ten and from there we begin to search for this?

R. Yes, if we speak about attainment then yes, you’re correct, that’s where we start. Good, soon we’ll begin to understand each other and Baal HaSulam and what’s going on.

16. S. (25:54) From what are the relationships between the guest and the Host and the worlds of BYA?

R. The worlds of BYABeria, Yetzira and Assiya are an addition to the world of Atzilut in order to increase the lights of the world of Atzilut. In the world of Atzilut we have Nefesh, Ruach by the ascension of the worlds of Beria, Yetzira, Assiya, the lights of Neshama, Haya, Yechida also gather there.

S. Can this be expressed in the motions of guest and Host?

R. Yes, the guest receives something called the world of Beria, here it gets some pleasure from that, let’s say. In the world of Yetzira when it tastes and receives, he tastes and receives something equal to two x, and the world of Beria is equal to three x; I have nothing to say.

17. S. (27:27) I’m a bit confused here after you explained to a friend about lacking GAR, you explained that the surroundings lights of AK are lacking GAR because these are Kelim? There ‘s no coupling of beating, no coupling, no Rosh that manages these lights, that’s why they lack GAR?

R. I didn’t speak of it at all, anyone else heard the same, I didn’t speak about it but what’s your question?

S. I want to ask, if the worlds of BYA are also lacking GAR?

R. ABYA or BYA?

S. ABYA.

R. Yes?

S. They lack GAR but there are couplings there, there is a Rosh that makes decisions, what to take inside, what not to.

R. Yes?

S. So there is GAR there?

R. By incorporating in higher Partzufim.

S. I didn’t get the answer?

R. I’ll tell you simply, the light of GAR cannot descend below the Parsa.

S. The light can’t descend below the Parsa.

R. Yes?

S. So what happens below the Parsa then in all the Rosh below the Parsa?

R. They lack GAR.

S. So what light operates in the Rosh below the Parsa?

R. None.

S. What is the addition in the light of the GAR in a Partzuf below the Parsa?

R. The light of Hochma, which is the light of GAR, cannot appear below the Parsa.

S. So it’s entirely different that the GAR that is lacking in the worlds of ABYA and the GAR that’s seemingly lacking in the surrounding light of AK, two different things?

R. Correct, yes.

18. S. (29:56) How does a person know that the NRN of righteous belong to him?

R. If he’s incorporated in such a degree then I guess he knows.

S. Is everything we learned and learn now and we’ll learn, have infinite value only with respect to who attains and yearns to attain?

R. One who attains.

19. S. (30:52) In the previous article we read that through love of friends we can come to a feeling that the world is all good, and can come to a feeling of the love of the Creator. Love of friends is the opening into the feeling that we’re reading about?

R. We attain everything only by love of friends.

S. But it’s one time and then you would attain all of this reality or it happens gradually?

R. Gradually, how can you jump right away to the top?

S. Not to the top but the question is through the love of friends that you attain once, you begin to feel it is already a reality.

R. Also love of friends you don’t attain in one shot, it’s a general name of the connection of all the broken parts.

S. So it goes?

R. To the extent that you’re capable of conceding your ‘I’, yourself, and connecting with the others, with the friends, by this you can gather with it, a broken vessel that is united by you, greater and greater lights.

S. So one always works against the other, it’s not one after the other?

R. Yes.

20. S. (32:39) We’re asking generally, can I ask: The first restriction made, caused the appearance of the Partzuf of Galgalta, the Galgalta was created out of something, SAG started an amazing process of incorporation between vessels of reception and vessels of bestowal, the second restriction, MA, BON, Atzilut, Beria but what’s the role of ABPartzuf of AB, it’s not clear?

R. AB, is it stores force that through it, you can receive lights, forces of Hochma.

S. I’ll think about it, I’m not grasping it.

R. AB is the Partzuf of Hochma, it’s not Keter like Galgalta, it’s not SAG like Bina, it’s a Partzuf of Hochma that stores all the light of Hochma in it, all the force, all the power that you, have all the Partzufim in all the worlds. It comes from the Partzuf of AB; SAG only gives you the ability to expand, to perceive, but to expand and perceive what, the light of Hochma.

S. That is the uppermost goal?

R. It’s not the upper goal, it’s fuel, power, truly atomic power that is in all of creation, the light of Hochma.

21. S. (34:49) Can we say that in the worlds of BYA, there is no GAR, there is no Rosh and all of this is generated in the breaking in order to attain the Rosh, the GAR in the worlds of AK, ourselves, could we say that?

R. Yes and no, the shattering was created in order to give all the vessels that will want to rise, the ability to rise, so that in all the vessels will enter all the parts GAR and ZAK of all the worlds.

S. So what’s the purpose of all of this, what are we attaining by this?

R. To attain the ability for the smallest vessel to attain to the highest of high, at least to connect to all those same vessels that go through correction, that’s called “the darkness should illuminate as the light that ultimately, the light will fill all the vessels”, this entire cascade from infinity, Ein Sof down to this world.

S. So the whole thing is about us feeling this entire process, to grasp this process?

R. To grasp it, to learn it, feel it and use it.

22. S. (36:36) There are, it feels like some of the advanced students and you are sharing the same language but we feel behind, is there a way to give us additional lessons?

R. Please, we have all sorts of systems that will be happy to help you, I don’t run forward, I’m always speaking in this manner that most can grasp. There are those who not so much, there are those who more but I don’t run to try to finish, not in a hurry to finish.

23. S. (37:40) It’s clear that the language of lights and Partzufim speaks of love of friends, similar to how we read and hear the writings of Rabash. The question is: How to make the parallel between writing’s of the Rabash and then Preface and TES and be impressed the same way?

R. That’s within man’s heart and mind, that it accumulates and is formed and then becomes understandable in both heart and mind. It could be in the meantime but not yet, but slowly, gradually, you see just how I’m not jumping forward, not running forward, I think you can do it.

24. S. (38:30) Before the shattering the vessels were connected?

R. Yes.

S. What does the shattering give us so that when they connect they rise to a higher place?

R. The shattering scrutinizes the lack of connection in them, that’s called that they are broken.

S. How come the connection between them now will raise them to a state that before they were not able to reach?

R. Because they didn’t ask, now they’re asking, the shattering has been revealed so now they’re asking for correction, raising of MAN, the broken Reshimot, they receive correction to connect; and then as corrected vessels they can perceive, can get in them all the lights.

S. Before that, their connection with only the light of Nefesh?

R. Let’s say.

S. So the shattering made it possible for them to receive greater lights?

R. The shattering showed them where there’s no connection between them and thus, now that they raised themselves they’re asking for correction and adjoining themselves to one another, then they can absorb greater lights.

S. How come?

R. Because where there was a shattering, there was a will to receive that’s revealed, now it will be corrected on the intention to bestow and the parts of the broken vessels connect together and absorb, receive, greater and greater lights.

S. And all of this is revealed in the relationship between the broken parts?

R. Yes, yes.

S. And they build together this attitude toward the upper parts, higher parts?

R. Yes, that’s the entire matter of the correction of the vessels, that everything begins from the shattering, from Adam HaRishon and every place, everything begins from the breaking, the shattering.

25. S. (41:42) I would like to scrutinize the matter of a big vessel or small vessel?

R. Well?

S. A vessel is a will to receive.

R. A vessel is a screen, restriction, screen and reflected light, that’s the foundation of the vessel.

S. Got it, so when we speak on the four phases of direct light that Malchut is the biggest vessel, what speaks of the will to receive?

R. Yes, it’s still not really a Kli, a vessel that’s ready for work.

S. I heard from you several times, also that Israel are weak vessels, small weight?

R. It’s written, “you are a few among the nations”.

S. Yes but coarser vessels of reception, stronger?

R. Correct.

S. So according to the screen they’re smaller and according to the ability, the will to receive, they are bigger?

R. Whoever has patience and learns how to connect to others by force of love, he becomes a big vessel for reception of the light. And this is what is done with whomever yearns to get closer to the Creator, that accordingly he is called Yashar Kel, [Israel].

26. S. (43:41) I have an announcement, if I may: Today, the community of Moscow is dedicating the entire day to the topic of ‘gifts to the friends and the Creator’ and we invite the entire world Kli to participate in it, especially for that. We are having a picnic today, we’re going to scrutinize the topic and also practically we’re going to try and realize it on a higher degree. There will be a Zoom, a broadcast in the Russian language. If you can’t speak Russian, please connect in the hearts, we will share what’s happening with everyone. We are especially excited to invite the students of MAK to participate, also virtually, you’ll see on the screen the Zoom ID and this we’ll send to the chats. Remember that everything begins with the preparation for the Noon lesson, see you soon!

R. All the best to you, I am sorry that, also, in these hours that I begin my lesson in these hours.

27. S. (45:06) The lesson will be dedicated to the friends there, they chose the topic for the lesson, ‘Gifts to the Creator”?

R. The lesson I’m giving will be heard there?

S. Yes, yes, they chose the topic of the Noon lesson, it will be about giving gifts to the Creator?

R. You sent it to me?

S. Yes, yes, you will still have it.

R. Wonderful, so we’ll meet in the afternoon and learn together, connect together in our hearts.

28. S. (45:40) A question about the French group: For a few years now we have a group of women, very strong women, and finally we have a small army organized for disseminating the wisdom of Kabbalah throughout the French-speaking world. Question: What could awaken, the trigger that will let us succeed and expand externally and internally the French group, what can be that trigger that will awaken it. He relates to the question asked by a student in the French Women’s Kli from yesterday where you wanted to see more of the French?

R. Me, I didn’t understand?

S. How can we grow the French group, it’s a continuation of the friend’s question from yesterday?

R. I’m not sure, I don’t have so much connection with them, I was only many years ago in France, one time in a Congress, I have no idea, I’m sorry I’m not so familiar with the friends from France, although my son is married to a French woman, I don’t know. We need to continue becoming more familiar, more and more, we need to continue dissemination more and more, and then it will happen.

S. So how can we get to know each other better?

R. Yes, we’ll do it, we’ll make the effort, maybe in that same Congress we will have the upcoming one, to also draw as much as possible, people from France, yes, that’s what I can say, I’ll be very happy. There is some barrier, an interesting barrier, between the French Nation and all the rest of the nations, at least that’s how it seems to me. But it’s a nation that’s very ancient, with its culture and education, with so much history and truly success in all fields. And to connect, communicate, can be hard, can be hard to connect with them. But we hope that specifically, by our friends from the French group, that we will succeed to see them getting closer and embracing all of us together. I’m dreaming about this very much!
