Part 2:

Baal HaSulam. Introduction to The Book of Zohar. #6

Reading Item 6 (00:14)

1 R. (02:22) In other words it’s clear to us that if the Creator wants to give us infinite fulfillment then He first of all needs to build on us a desire, a Kli which is also infinite and fulfill it with infinite fulfillment, that we’ll feel ourselves that way. What does it mean infinite I cannot describe? that it is constantly growing and growing and growing like our Universe, like what? But that is how reality needed to be created so we will be with an infinite desire to receive from it infinite fulfillment.

2. S. (03:12) We also see in our world that man is happy when his desires grow, when he feels a renewal in his desire. But at the same time we see that these desires are shut off and younger generations and all kinds of examples so what does it mean that according to the plan that desires grow to the ones who study Kabbalah?

R. Growing desires means that no matter what person has he’s still in lack, he wants more and more, that’s on one hand. On the other hand, he wants to constantly be chasing to receive more and more, and he will feel himself that he receives infinitely in his desire, that they are not limited by anything. How to depict this I don’t know?

S. So what causes such an innovation in the man who studies Kabbalah, how does he increase his desires?

R. That happens from transitioning from the will to receive to the will to bestow .

S. How does it happen that I renew the desire?

R. We will learn about that, that is the correction of our Kli, of our desire; to make the desire as such that it will be able to be received with no limit. Unlimited pleasure is the purpose of creation.

3. S. (05:18) Baal HaSulam says they have to observe that the thought of creation was to give pleasure to the creative being so he created a great desire to receive in his creation so we are the posterior of the Creator?

R. I don’t know your definitions.

S. If he says the will to receive so he just creates a mess, doesn’t it? That’s my question, if the will to receive is so strong so you’re going to give me something opposite of bestowal?

R. No.

S. Why not?

R. If I enjoy my will to receive then it can be without any limits, infinite. Infinite meaning it has no limit, no border.

S. But He lets you receive as much as possible so what does it cause me actually?

R. If you receive this in order to bestow contentment upon Him, upon the giver, then actually you are giving infinitely.

S. So that’s the bottom line we are saying but before the bottom line, the path, how can I overcome such a will to receive because I am an egoist?

R. You’re speaking of corrections, fine, we will correct it along the way.

4. S. (06:57) If I take Pushkin and the greatest desire, it comes out that the Creator will serve me as the greatest desire, what is it for us?

R. I couldn’t understand a thing, what are you talking about?

S. It says in the article that we need to have the biggest desire for the Creator to give us the biggest pleasure, if we take human egoism, what is the biggest desire, that the Creator fill all of my desires like with a story with the old lady?

R. The Creator will fulfill me completely, how could that happen and when? If you will check that state then you’ll understand that a person can be fulfilled only when he wants to fulfill the others; then you can give him everything in order to fulfill the others, and that is his fulfillment. Then you can fulfill him infinitely. It can’t be done any other way, it cannot. We are killing our desire that is why it’s written that “A person dies and he doesn’t even have half of what he wanted”.

S. So it turns out that we are the creatures that want to bring contentment to His Creator, how can we bring Him contentment?

R. That what is called to receive in order to bestow. To receive for the benefit of the Creator. That’s it. You receive and your pleasure is by bestowing, by accepting the fact that you are receiving. Then you are in adhesion and everyone is happy.

S. It’s an endless engine here.

R. Call it an engine, you don’t need to use foreign words.

S. Understood.

5. S. (09:55) It turns out that in our regular state a person likes what he likes and doesn’t like what is unpleasant to him and here there is like an exercise, that i like what i like and also what i don’t like because it’s all the Creator. Is that a condition that brings the pleasure from bestowal being infinite?

R. In the meantime you can say that, later you will all receive a new form.

6. S. (10:33) When in the ten we are able to unite in thought and desire, we feel something different, can we say that we cover all with love, with a mutual love?

R. Yes, of course. Yes. If we keep the law of bestowal, we are covering everything because in the beginning we bestow in order to bestow and then we even receive in order to bestow. Meaning on the one hand we receive everything the Creator wants to give but in order to bestow upon Him, so we have double the pleasure both from receiving and from giving.

8. S. (11:58) Can we say that Ein Sof is not a measure but a state?

R. Yes.

9. S. (12:14) When I see a child I get a pleasure from giving from bestowing but I don’t mean to get pleasure I just give so how to give to the Creator?

R. The whole world is ahead of you, the whole world end the Creator is clothed the cell is the Creator of everyone at least you’re 10.

10. S. () From the article we see that once we have prepared a vessel MAN so the feeling is already ready.

R. And that it’s written that the upper light is at complete rest and fulfills everything but it all depends on the vessel to the extent we will be able to open our vessel.

S. So the greatness of Baal HaSulam is summarized by that bringing us a method that every word in his writings is written in the state of Lishma, and it’s understood so Kabbalists went through the path?

R. Yes.

Reading Item #7 (14:11) “Once we have learned this,…”

11. S. (16:58) You said the goal of life is unlimited pleasure but I think of this it make me feel unsatisfied always never effort ….but at the same time you said the upper ligh is alwyas interact with me and we want to become like him so how this will be possible?

R. What can you do that you are such an egoist as much as you receive in life it is not enough for you.

S. Yes, It never satisfied me but than I want to be in peace like the Creator because the upper light it’s in peace So at the same time I want to become like….

R. But for the Creator it is enough and for you it is not enough that is why he is at rest and you are not at rest because as much as you receive it is not enough so how can you be in a deficiency and also at rest it’s not possible. That is why we say our reception needs to be only in order to bestow one up on the other then in such a way we reach calmness each one receives from everyone and each one gives to everyone and then there everyone has everything they need. That is the final correction, and it will be it will be soon.

S. So there is hope for this to be in peace, I want to have to it.

R. Yes, we’re coming closer to it.

12. S. (19:29) Can we increase vessels of reception or only correct the intention because we are all one desire there’s only one desire?

R. We have to limit our vessel of reception that it will be restricted and then we check to the extent that we can correct them that there is correction even though they will receive something it will be still in order to bestow because if they won’t receive they have nothing to bestow. And that is why we always received the pleasure in the vessels of reception sorry in the vessels of bestow and reception there is nothing to receive to the extend that we received we do it in order to bestow upon someone pleasure. Let’s say I am a smart baby and I in order to give pleasure to my mother then I eat and my mother enjoys the fact that I eating so even though I am receiving but in fact it’s in order to bestow that is how we can understand the concept of to receive in order to bestow or another example where guest In the house of the host like Baal HaSulam explains to us.That’s it.

13. S. (21:19) A mother eats a lot of kinds types of food and feeds herself and as a result she can breast feed the baby but the mother is willing to eat everything even if it doesn’t taste good to her because the baby needs it, is that like a similar example of the condition of receiving in order to bestow?

R. We will learn this it’s not exactly if we are in a state of receiving in order to bestow then what I received from me that is very tasty even tastier than if I would receive it from myself because by that I use the vessels of the giver the mother of the host that is how it works.

14. S. (22:55) The last paragraph of number 7 it says that all of fulfillment is in the thought of creation. So we say that the will to receive is existence from absence and it’s written that all the matter is only the will to receive. These two things seem contradicting to me, on one hand in the thought of creation there is all the desire to fill us, the will to bestow. But in the end it is written that all the desire that is created isn’t new.

R. Other than the will to receive there is nothing in creation so what are you asking about this?

S. What is the force of bestow to the Creator?

R. The force of bestowal is fulfillment although it comes out of the will to bestow of the Creator. It is a force that influences our will to receive.

S. In the vessels of giving that we want to attain the quality of giving, that doesn’t belong to Creation?

R. You can never attain the vessels of giving, never. The vessels of giving you can only change the form of reception that it will seem as if you are giving like the guest and the host. The guest has nothing to give the host other than the same intention that he receives from it. That he receives from the host in order to bestow him pleasure, that his action can never be a giver only a receiver.

S. So we can attain the intention to give from the Creator?

R. Yes, only the intention.

S. And that doesn’t belong to the will to receive?

R. So you will use the desire to receive in order to bestow. It is a certain way of using the will to receive, but other than that you have nothing.

15. S. (25:47) What is pleasure?

R. Pleasure is what fulfills your will to receive and you feel from it.

16. S. (26:01) I am always receiving what turns this fulfilment in to pleasure?

R. The deficiency within the will to recieve to the extent that they will to receive feels that is lacking than its fulfilment its felt as pleasure.

17. S (26:28) So Baal HaSulam writes here that all substance in the generate creation from beginning to end is only the will to receive, so what is this patent that the will to receive won’t control my life what should I do it’s not working for me?

R. I don’t understand him.

S. It says that all that matters the will to receive what should I do with this what is my work with this the entire wisdom of Kabbalah, what should I do? That the world to receive won’t overcome my life?

R. You read the guests in the house?

S. Yes.

R. So be a good guest.

S. What does it mean?

R. That everything the host is doing his doing it for you.

S. Yes, but how do I turn the will to receive that he created and not me?

R. Baal HaSulam writes here that the vessels do not change.

S. What does it mean?

R. Even now to the extended you have this appetite than you eat and enjoy and alongside with that you relate this pleasure to the host that he prepared it for you so you will enjoy.

S. How will I do it I can do it? How do I do it? How do I perform it?

R. Imagine this reality this state and that is not that difficult.

S. You say always do with the help of the friends with the connection that is what you’re saying?

R. Yes, yes. There is nothing other than that only understands that in that is all of the creation.

S. And then what so what happens after that?

R. Then you turn your reception into bestow and the more you receive the more you are giving and by that you’re reaching the end of correction of your desire that we all be amid in order to bestow and instead of hill you will reach heaven.

S. According to what I see I don’t really have chances in getting into heaven.

R. What do you mean you have no chance you are not going to die?

S. Because as much as I work I see I’m not successful in doing what you’re telling me connect to the friends do this do that it’s not working for me it is hard for me about the friends, I keep falling I keep running away from it I cannot do it. Can you give me a tip?

R. Make an effort.

18. S. (29:47) You answered but I ask again, what does the Creator do without us?

R. You said it very nicely, nature knows how to tell all of these there are many people that want to reach the Creator.

S. What are we receiving?

R. If you have the right intention there if you want to give contentment to the Creator. Imagine that there is a small child that opens the refrigerator and he wants his mother to feed him because by that he gives her pleasure we’re all little children.

S. And can we being in such a state, are we all letters of one prayer?

R. It is nonsense what you’re asking I don’t want to answer that.

19. S. (31:45) Can we in the Ten already restrict the desires and only open them so we will receive in order to bestow?

R. Of course the Creator is willing to help everyone and anyone, only ask.

20. S. (32:08) Is our bestowal expressed in pray for the others what is right to ask for?

R. Correction, connection.

21. S. (32:41) When a friend receives in order to bestow is this mean she bestows to the 10?

R. Yes of course.

22. S. (33:19) Why do we say that the Creator is in complete rest if we have a deficiency to bestow and he created everything?

R.  He is working none stop the Creator is working none stop every moment he’s doing infinite actions running around from one end to the other just like that, why is it considered that he’s a complete rest? Because he’s intention to do good to the created being does not change. And that is why he’s called his considered that he’s at complete rest.

23. S. (34:11) If a person is in spirituality does he uses the will to receive in order to express his love to the Creator?

R. Yes of course.

S. And then he’s actually happy that he has more will to receive because he can’t express more love?

R. He has a greater ability to receive and by that he bestows upon the Creator like the guests and the host.

24. S. (34:45) What needs to happen to receive the intention? I heard that we’re killing the will to receive. Does it mean we’re receiving without the intention?

R. Yes we need to ask the Creator that he will give us the intention in order to bestow, and we will even use this will to bestow  with the will to receive. I have a huge desire I use it in order to receive from the host but I’m actually doing it to give him pleasure.

25. S. (35:41) The intention in our relationships is that the screen? We builded those letters that we were learning about?

R. Yes.

26. S. (36:08) When we speak about the host and the guest you try to feel your will to receive with the intention to bestow and there’s like a feeling that you don’t receive pleasure and don’t bestowal why does that happen?

R. This is a transition period, continue and you will see where it takes you to.
