1. Rav’s Introduction: Speaking with the Creator is already a very serious spiritual degree and it is possible to reach that only when we are already connected with the friends. We build the spiritual device through which we can speak to the Creator, meaning what we will feel together between us towards the Creator, this is what the Creator feels, what he hears, understands and accepts from us and so to speak with the Creator it is not simple. Actually when we reach it this is already considered the degree of Prophecy because a prophet is one who speaks with the Creator. So it is not so easy or close but we can reach that and begin. If we are connected together then through that connection between us we can operate our hearts and desires and we want to tell the Creator yes we can tell him, we can bestow to him so let’s hear what Rabash says.
Reading 17. Twice (01:53 – 05:03)
2. R This means that we have a first stage in the connection between us which is to reach a state where we feel each inside ourselves, the connection between us and the essence of the connection. What do we attain through the connection, where is our aspiration and goal, what do we ask for together, how to connect to ourselves in order to reach one heart with a single request and so that we would understand and feel that we are engaging with a single Creator. These things we have to organize inside of us, inside of our heart. After we become organized this is considered that we are on the first floor of the building and then the rise with that request which is put together because we already have a single heart, then we come to the Creator and demand from him to correct that heart which is already one which we serve to him and we want him to correct it and fill it. This is already his role, our role is only to reach a state where we want that this is how it will be. Raising MAN, a deficiency is what is required from us.
3. S. (06:56) Yesterday we scrutinized that the happiness from serving the Creator gives contentment to the Creator and this seems to be the end of everything. Here it seems as if there is a dialogue face to face. What is the benefit of being in this conversation? Why not simply raise the vessels to him and that’s it?
R. No, that is not the end of the creation. We have to relate to the Creator as the Creator wants to relate to us, meaning that we make it pleasant and good for him, we want to give him joy and this is that we are raising MAN. That actually from us, it seems like a lack but actually this lack is in order to show him that this is what we are lacking, and what we are asking from him is that he will answer that, that he will fill it. This is our work. Look at how the whole of nature is; the small one turns to the greater one. In the children and birds, how many little ones who grow turn to the grown ups, its parents and asks and demands for fulfillment. This is how everything is arranged. The greater one has to fulfill the request of the smaller one and this is how it comes together and this is how we also turn to the Creator and demand from him to correct us and fulfill us and develop us.
We want to be great like you, however from us what is required is the deficiency which should already be a deficiency that is more correctly organized and arranged to the goal. And the goal should be outside of our natural qualities. We want to resemble the Creator. This is to rise above reason, to bestow. Therefore what we asked from the Creator is to give us the power of bestowal. Grow us and develop us to become like you and this is the opposite of our nature. How can we establish this sentence in the form of a demand? Let us be like you, let us be givers like you. If we organize in the group such relationships, more or less somehow, to be still in order to receive however when the Creator bestows on that he already gives a spiritual power and then we start to relate to each other and back to the Creator in a spiritual form meaning in order to bestow back to him.
S. So we are asking him to make us like him is called the work face to face?
R. Yes.
4. S. (10:41) You said that in the beginning we connect our desires from our hearts and then we are asking for correction from the Creator. The question is; each discovers his corrupt part and each discovers how he sees the Creator in the connection but what does it mean that we reach something common, that there should be something in common that we reveal that is evil, or what?
R. When we yearn for the Creator then we have all kinds of states that we go through. When we renew a certain image and through this work we start to come closer between us. We begin to understand each other better so each person enters into such states that exist also in the second and third friends and then we reach a state when we can demand from the Creator a single thing. This is the work, this is the process.
5. S. (12:06) If the Creator is on the second floor as it is written in the text because we have to learn how to connect to him on the first floor, how can we attain this ability to communicate through building a prayer in the ten or do some mechanism which is behind the intention, which is only spiritual?
R. I didn’t understand precisely what you said.
S. How do I communicate with the Creator, through words or intention in the ten?
R. You communicate between the Creator only by you becoming incorporated in the friends, when you connect together into a single desire meaning into a single heart and this desire you elevate to the Creator and in the same desire you also receive the answer from The Creator. Try to do that many times each and every day and you will see that following a certain time you will start to feel that you have a connection with the Creator.
6. S. (14:04) In the text it says that there is an obligation to love the friends and we have to think about this. When I see a friend not going to the morning lesson but he is awake, how should I relate to him regarding this obligation to love him?
R. You should above all try to be in his place as it is written that you must not judge a person until you reach his place and when you understand what is happening to him then certainly you can justify him and then you can help him, so how to exit the state to a higher state.
7. S. (15:09) A person wants to reach the second floor out of his ego so what is the first action he needs to do in order to reach the first floor.
R. On the first floor he should feel that he is a selfish person and he has no connection to the Creator on one hand. On the other hand he receives from above a desire to rise into connection with the Creator and the Creator is waiting for him and he is giving him all the conditions for this. These conditions are that he would rise from self-love, which is his first floor, that he would rise to the second floor which is love of others and that there he will arrange the love of others on the second floor and then he will also be able to start to attain through this his connection with the Creator and this is how he will advance more and more.

8. R. This is what we have to imagine to ourselves. This imagination nevertheless helps the person to somehow rise from the state that he is in to a higher state, to value the connection with the friends and how much they can bring him closer to a connection with the Creator and the then he begins to see his friends as the means, as the opportunity, as the passageway that through them of course not alone, he comes into contact with the Creator that he has no other possibility, no chance to reach the revelation of the Creator, to have contact with the Creator, to speak with the Creator meaning to be in an exchange of words if he does not connect with the friends.
This is why we must break our evil inclination that does not allow us to get closer to each other and out of the necessity to reach a connection with the Creator, to obligate ourselves to have a connection between us such that the Creator would already be able to show himself in that connection. Ask about each and every thing that may obstruct you because we should already be inside that connection, we should already start to feel the Creator inside our connection, we should yearn for him in our connection, we should feel his attitude to us from our connection. Everything is inside our connection. Only this way can we reach the revelation of the Creator and the spiritual ascent.
9. S. (20:21) We always say that the connection with the Creator is in the connection with the ten. In the previous text he writes that this is the second floor, that one is above the other. How does one build that? Is it a more qualitative connection in the connection with the ten?
R. It is in the center between us, in the center of our connection. There it’s actually that point from which we connect with the Creator and the Creator through that point connects with us.
S. We connect in the ten, we dissolve, we annul ourselves mutually, but how should we aim ourselves correctly?
R. We want from that point to feel the presence of the Creator, we shouldn’t leave it. In that point where we all connect and we all want to be together, when we unite in that way, there we want to feel the Creator. Because He is the first, He arranged for us all of the things and He gave us thoughts and rejections, for and against. And in this way He eventually arranged for us that point of connection between us. And we now from that same point of connection that it seems to us we have somehow attained, we want to discover Him in the middle, inside of us, in that point of connection. The Creator is even more internal than us, He is the most internal point of the whole of reality and therefore we want to discover Him in the connection between us. We do not come out of that point of connection between us to some kind of direction, up, down, left or right, no. We want to feel Him there, that He exists inside of us.
S. He writes in this excerpt that it’s like meeting a special, important person. How can we build this feeling in the right way because when you say that He is between us and with us, it’s as if He’s the closest thing to us.
R. You are right, the Creator is the closest, there is no one or something in the whole of reality who is closer to me than the Creator. Because He gives birth to me, He directs me, He makes me, all of the things; He gives me the evil inclination and confusions and He teaches me in what confusions I am, and how I can come out of them and connect with others. even though I don’t want to. But nevertheless I do ask of Him so that I will want it and I will be able to do it, He does it all. It’s like a Nanny who performs actions for a small child in a kindergarten, teaching him what to do and how to do. And she shows him actions for and against so long as he will learn from all of these states he goes through, that he will grasp some wisdom, how to relate to things, how to distinguish between this and that. This is how the Creator does it with us, it is exactly the same system.
S. How along with the fact that He is the closest to us and He’s between us and that’s the foundation of the connection we’re in, how to guard what He says, that we should relate to Him as the most important person in the world? That He accepts me as a special individual and gives me this opportunity, how can we develop this importance?
R. I don’t know exactly what you want to hear. I, from my connection with the friends I now want to develop my connection with the Creator. And then together with the friends, we talked about it, we are already able to and we want to reach that, to try to reach that, this is called to climb to the second floor and this is now how we try to do it. So we turn to the Creator, each one individually and all of us together and we pressure and pressure and pressure Him that He will do these exercises with us. Take an example from little children, how much they demand, and we have to do the same.
10. S. (26:14) After a connection with the friends, what is more important to ask the Creator, to give the friends the force of bestowal or to give them a deficiency?
R. If we turn to Him then it seems that we already have a deficiency, how could we turn without the deficiency? So what is it that we want? We want that our connection will be suitable for the revelation of the Creator. So we ask of Him, give us the deficiency towards you, that we will want to discover you, to feel you, to come closer to you, to adhere to you, give us a deficiency. This is what we want. And in truth it doesn’t matter so much what you will ask for because the Creator will give you what you need according to your situation, according to the degree that you need to correct. And therefore the most important is to constantly be together and to turn to the Creator and ask. Like little children, one time they want this, another time that they are confused. It’s all in order for them to grow correctly.
11. S. (27:50) The problem is that the more it wants to connect to the friends the more I understand that it is me wanting to reach the Creator, only I. But I understand that I cannot do it alone and I want to use the friends so that only I will reach the Creator, help me please.
R. It doesn’t matter, even such an egoistic desire also works and will be corrected in the right place along the way so just continue. The most important is to always turn to the Creator and to add the friends to it, on your own you won’t be able to reach it. When you will start to add the friends to it you will see how it changes for you, your appeal to the Creator and how you should turn to Him in a correct form each time more and more, and eventually you will succeed.
12. S. (28:58) According to the first excerpt number 17, Rabash writes that it’s like a building that has two stories. The first floor is the love of friends and the second floor is the King, the Creator, that’s clear. But there is also one more floor, what is that?
R. That’s a person’s basic ego. Even before he starts to wake up towards the Creator, towards spirituality it’s his general beastly ego. This is how we are born and from that we grow.
13. S. (29:57) So we need to break our evil inclination that does not let us come closer to each other. What is this action, breaking the ego?
R. It is when we realize that only with it can we cannot advance, succeed, become human beings, come close to the Creator. This is called to break it, to break it’s false wholeness, that through it we can seemingly reach everything. When we despair of the will to receive in order to receive of ours, and even though we exist in it and it controls us, however we are not capable of remaining in it. Because we were born a beast but we do not agree to die as a beast.
14. S. (31:09) I heard from you that it doesn’t matter what you’re asking, the Creator knows, the main thing is for us to be together. Many times when we build a prayer in our group everytime some friends say the same words, you know in advance what he’s going to say. Let’s work in faith above reason or something like that. It’s a bit annoying. How to work with that?
R. Try to give an example to each other that you are bringing out words, sentences, appeals each time in a different style in order to renew your appeal to the Creator. Try to do this together, talk about it. Make it so that each one will help the other.
15. S. (32:11) What does the Creator tell us when he talks to us? Does He give us the feeling of unity or do we feel his words and we get some guidance from Him?
R. Whatever is inside of us we get it from the Creator. Even the thoughts that we think are ours and the thoughts and desires that we think that we get from Him and the thoughts of the friends, that it seems that there are friends here and they’re together with me participating in all of these things, it is all organized and led only by the Creator, there is None Else Besides Him. Therefore we need as much as possible in this whole reality that we want to establish as a system of connection from us to the Creator, we have to organize it such that it is all controlled by The Creator and also by us. And where do we want to correct it, to update it for us to take a step forward, from us to the Creator.
16. S. (33:48) What does it mean to get the ability to ask of the King whatever my heart desires and to know it’s true?
R. To feel it in the heart, there is nothing more to say here. Try all the time to raise the sensitivity of your heart towards things that come from the outside. From the outside meaning from the Creator through the friends. If it’s only from the Creator that does not help you so much because you have no correct feedback in return, no correct response to the Creator. If you feel that what you are getting from the Creator comes to you through the friends then out of that you can correctly organize your response.
S. Meaning my whole connection with the friends is my connection with the Creator?
R. Yes, yes you have to feel that this is truly one, you, the friends and the Creator are together until you truly begin to feel and understand in this whole connection, to feel each other this way and that way, we are all as one. This is how you constantly cook until the connections between you and the exchange of thoughts, views, feelings and all kinds of influences will be felt as operating on everybody together, in all directions. And then you bit by bit reach adhesion.
17. S. (35:55) We learned that in order to reach contact with the Creator we have to be in the degree of Bina. On the other hand there is this expression, with common people to be at the eyes’ height with someone. If you are at the same height with the Creator that means to rise to the degree of Hochma?
R. No, no. First we truly need to be on the degree of Bina, it’s called the degree of bestowal, I to my beloved and my beloved to me, mutual bestowal. And the fact that the Creator is bestowing to me, influencing me, organizing me and giving me my whole life, that’s clear. But the fact that I need in return to organize myself towards Him and this is through the group, this is what I need to try to do. And then we will be in the state of I to my beloved and my beloved to me.
18. S. (37:08) Will it be correct to reach a feeling prior to the floor, to reach a feeling of a common deficiency in the ten?
R. Yes.

It is when everything that is between him and the Creator, he wants to live in it, he wants to feel it; or when one blesses, he blesses the Creator for what he has in life when he advances, he comes closer to the Creator. He should imagine that he is speaking to an honorable person, to the King of the world. That does not really depend on him, it depends on the society, how much the society respects and makes these pictures over the Creator and spirituality makes the person be impressed by it. Even if we don’t talk about it, because we are connected in such connections that we do not see or feel but they are affecting us through the air, it passes from one person to the other.

21. R. (42:23) There are a few matters here: sometimes there are such things that we are cautious not to speak with each other, one does not have to pass on his impression of the greatness of the Creator to others. Sometimes it is the opposite, there are a few manners of connecting here, different kinds. So I am not saying we have to behave exactly, we need to be cautious, to affect each other in a way that we do not burden the friend with our personal opinion.
22. S. (43:16) Then I understood that I cannot even raise a prayer, here also the Creator is the first and He is the last, and I reached a great despair of my own forces, and on the other hand the greatness of the Creator, what actually is within my own forces just to despair of my own strength, what do I do between?
R. What does a small child ask he discovers that he cannot do anything, what should you do?
S. He cries.
R. Just like that?
S. And he tries, he still tries to do something, he cries, he’s disappointed.
R. So these are exactly the steps you have to go through: you have to cry, you have to try, you have to become disappointed, you have to see that you cannot. And then you will have an urge to turn to the Creator because you have no choice, you will have no choice. Otherwise you will not turn to Him, if you turn to Him immediately then you are not in the right deficiency. You have to come to Him with such a clear deficiency that if the Creator does not help you, you won’t succeed. So this is it, so just do it.
23. S. (45:00) The habit takes away all the awareness from the process, and you come to the meeting of the ten because you have to connect to the friends and you have to connect to the Creator. Now you say that it is very important for us to raise the importance of the greatness of the Creator, what is the essence of this spiritual action that before the request we speak about it and we raise importance of the Creator?
R. It gives intensity to your request if you enlarge the Creator in your eyes and then you turn to Him, then you are turning someone big. The Creator has no real measure how big He is, you give Him this measure. That is why we always have to be concerned about the greatness of the Creator in our eyes, then we are connected to someone higher, with a bigger, upper one then we can receive more. We are the ones who give measures to the Creator, it’s not that in advance He has a certain intensity or such and such strength. We can receive as much as we want, it all depends on our appreciation. There is a verse: “to the extent that a person measures, he is being measured”, this means that it is very important to appreciate the Creator as big as you can, it will always be for our benefit.
24. S. (46:52) If I understood correctly, you said that we can connect even in the air and reach a certain level of connection. In order to use this exercise to do this work, do we need a phone or should it all be only through the heart? I want to ask if it is correct to do some exercises, do I need to connect only to the deficiencies of the friends or also let the friends connect through me to the Creator?
R. The best is through the command efficiency between you, that you in the meantime are performing between yourselves this common deficiency and from it, all of you together, turn to the Creator, this is called a “prayer in the public” and it is always succeeds, it’s always successful.
This is very important for usually to connect a between us and then we connect to the Creator; this is considered that the we are performing a quorum, this quorum or Minyan means that we can come ourselves. It’s is best if it is a ten and then if we really have ten friends we can come to the Creator and awaken the biggest force and response this is called Kedusha, sanctity or holiness, and to be thankful of what He is doing to us, we call it [Kedish(?) couldn’t find in our dictnry.], and this is how we raise MAN on our behalf and we receive MAD from Him. This is a mutual connection we have that’s called, ”I to my beloved and my beloved to me”, and this is how we advance.
S. Of this deficiency of the friends, is this what tells me that the Creator is more important than anything, is this the deficiency that should activate me all the time, to make this practice, this exercise of connecting my heart to the deficiencies of the friends?
R. Yes.
25. S. (49:57) How can we create this atmosphere of speaking to the Creator in the ten in order to bring Him contentment, in order to experience the joy out of it?
R. We need to connect between ourselves, there is no other answer, to connect.
26. S. (51:03) He writes here that “there is importance in reaching depictions in order to reach spirituality”, what do ‘depictions’ mean that we have to imagine ‘depictions’?
R. ‘Depictions mean that we depict to ourselves through, on one hand, we depict to ourselves, it is from the Hebrew word for “sorrow”, when we restrict ourselves; and on the other hand, when we adopt ourselves to the Creator, to the force of bestowal and by this we come closer to Him.
S. Do we have to imagine something, to have to imagine something that does not exist?
R. You have to imagine what the force of bestowal is, yes.
S. How can I imagine such a thing when I do not even know what it is?
R. Try to do what your friend wants you to do and this is an example.
S. Think about his needs?
R. Yes.

28. S. (53:02) I would like to ask about the feeling, to continue the analogy about the King, the Creator. My whole life I lived without home, they would pick me up everyday and here they bring me to the King’s Palace and they tell you that the King loves you, what is it that you want, how can we help you? I have a feeling that it is some mistake, I am not worthy of it, how did that happen, what to do with this?
R. First of all, it is correct that you are unworthy and how come you were the one who was chosen to come closer to the King? This is correct, on the other hand, you have to understand that it is certain that you are not worthy but still you have inside you a point that comes from the Creator, it is not that you are so special but it’s a point in you from the Creator that in you, “a point in the heart” and this is special and that requires of you a connection with the King, the Creator. And so you simply have to serve that point in the heart in order to bring it to contact with the Creator so please do this and you will be okay. You, yourself, are not so big but you are serving that point in the heart and what is required of you in order to bring that point close to the Creator is to bring that point back to its right place, this is what you should do.

29. R. (56:06) We have to interpret this: it means that even if two, two is a number already that has the opportunity to build a spiritual Kli but if there are ten then it goes according to what we are saying, a spiritual Partzuf. That if ten people gather together and they annul their will to receive each one towards the others in order to create such connection between themselves that from this connection they can already connect to the Creator, this is called the ‘quorum’, a Minyan, that’s it.
30. S. (57:05) By the ten, our work is in that each friend would have the possibility, the opportunity to talk with the Creator, so what does this conversation give us, what purpose does it serve of talking with the Creator to the entire ten?
R. The ten can bestow to the Creator, one can barely do it, two or three, they have a small force but there is bestowal. But a ten is a structure, if ten desires annul themselves and connect between themselves by annulling their ego, they even connect above the ego in order to bestow to the Creator, to resemble Him, it works. And then in these changes they take upon themselves they bestow upon the Creator and the Creator comes closer to them, corrects them, fills them and so advances them toward connection.
21. S. (58:54) On the one hand, we now have the ten, ten friends, and I was rewarded with praying to the Creator of how should I do this work. Sometimes I see only two or three friends in the workshop, I call this a ten also so what should be the right work in the ten?
R. Am I about to tell you the work in the ten, now, we’ve been learning it for months, every day and every morning, now you are just falling on me with this question?
S. I do not want to get confused because sometimes there is a state where we say only in the ten we can do it, that it should be no less than nine, no more than eleven, another time you say that two or three people are also enough?
R. This I can explain now it’s clear what you’re asking. Even two, this is already a mechanism by which they can scrutinize something from corporeality and spiritual life because it is two people, each one is an egoist, to the extent that each one annuls himself to the other he feels this force this egoistic force of desire he had and to the extent he wants to annul it, he feels the other force, the altruistic force, that he wants to receive, he’s drawn to that, and each one by relating to the other, this way he gains a spiritual force.
By facing himself in this tendency to connect to the other and it is truth that two is the least amount for a group so we are enough to scrutinize between themselves what is bestowal and what rejection, what reception is, you can start from there. But truthfully according to the general force of the Creator is scrutinized in a ten. Here too, there is a question because in the ten because maybe you can hide, not to talk, not to response, not to connect. Each one can be silent, maybe, a little bit, while if we are talking about two, they have no choice, they have to be very active with each other and show themselves. And so we have to try to have all the forces of revelation between us in order to reach a true scrutiny of our nature.
22. S. (01:02:22) It seems that there are always three deficiencies that rise synchronically in the group: (1) the desire of that more friends will take part in dissemination, (2) the desire that more friends will take part in the morning lesson and (3) the desire to help the friends more in the corporeality. We never feel that there is a common deficiency, we always have these three separate deficiencies, what is the common deficiency in the ten?
R. I am not going to talk about these deficiencies you are talking about, they are not related to the spiritual deficiency, what did you say, what deficiencies?
S. There are friends who would like others to participate more in the morning lesson, there are friends who would like others to do more in dissemination, and other friends push more toward corporeal assistance to each other.
R. These things are good, they accompany us in our lives but it’s not that that they are the things that we have to improve in the center of the ten, this is not the data there, it accompanies us, it accompanies us. We need to always care about how much between us we build a point of connection between us where our hearts are, our hearts. This means that each and everybody wants to connect to the other and through him to the Creator.
You have no choice, through the friends you come to the Creator, and then all of us wants to connect to the heart of the friends because through the others he can connect to the Creator and if all of us together connect this way then you will see this picture that you are going through: you have one heart and everybody wants to establish in the center of the group, this one heart they want to discover the Creator, this is what is important not that it will help us to do all kinds of things that you said. This accompanies us, the main thing is what I said, that is the most important thing.
23. S. (01:05:02) We say that the purpose of the person’s life is to discover the Creator and always remain connected with Him. We had a question today about turning to the Creator, that the person should try on his own to see that he’s not capable of it and then to turn. So the question is what do we get from the Creator after we turn to Him correctly, what do we get from Him?
R. Whatever you get, you get, I cannot tell you what you get, the main thing is to turn to Him.
S. Okay, so after that again we repeat the same process because we know that it does not end, so this whole process, do we need to reach a perpetual appeal, is this the purpose to be always in prayer?
R. Yes, you can be certain that we have to be in a state where we are always in an open line to the Creator and we’re sending our deficiencies through this all the time. About this, it is written “may he pray all day long”.
S. So how inside this appeal, this part of trying and despairing, how do these two things live in us in the same moment?
R. Despair is good, that’s good because he has not attained what he wants to attain and he is despaired from his own forces, and on the other hand he has to have this confidence that the Creator can help him. The only thing that matters is what he is turning to the Creator with and demanding.
S. We see that getting to a correct request takes a lot of time and effort and we have to reach a despair?
R. Yes, so what?
S. So if the purpose is to constantly be in a prayer, maybe we see that we are not in a common prayer, maybe to really reach a common prayer we making an effort and we try to turn to Him until we finally turn to Him.
R. This is also called a prayer by all these small prayers, we grow and grow until we reach the correct deficiency, the right expression and then the Creator answers us. We have nothing else to do just to sharpen, to strengthen, to establish our address to the Creator, this is the truth raising of MAN, there is nothing else. When we finish that it is considered that, “we have finished the years in the desert”.
24. S. (01:07:57) At the beginning of the lesson, you said that talking to the Creator is the degree of the prophets, my question is can we turn to the Creator in writing? When is it better to speak or to write to the Creator?
R. I cannot say, it depends on the person the way he feels, there is no answer to that.

R. You can’t replace it, and the greatness of the King is the greatness of the upper force that manages us. We can’t, you can’t play games here and switch the upper force with, well, it is exactly a higher force that has a desire and a plan and it sustains us and we are controlled by it. R. Correct.

R. I always have to show the friend good states that can elevate him, awaken him, warm him up and not otherwise.

R. “To adhere to Him in truth means I leave no point in me outside of the connection with Him.

R. No, some do, some don’t, sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. No, so it’s also for each one until everyone rises and then it is a complete ascent.

R. We come to the center of the group, those who want to be connected to everyone, dependent on everyone and giving to everyone, they are at the center of the group.
