Rabash. Article No. 32, (1988). What Are the Two Actions During a Descent?

2. S. (31:10) What is whole faith in the Creator? Complete faith in the Creator?
R. Who can answer? No-one? Can you? Go ahead.
3. S. (31:40) He writes on the last line, a lack for spirituality. He simply asks for life; called complete faith in the Creator?
R. Meaning complete faith in the Creator means asking for life, for livelihood for life from the Creator and then what he receives is called complete faith. Is there anything else to add? Let it stay according to the book for now.
4. S. (32:32) The article is very precise, meaning I can feel and see and then he begins to give the solution of prayer and I feel like the mind is shut?
R. A question: do you have an answer to the question?
S. He wants to see that he doesn’t leave us, and all the states, when you look back, you see that they were for your benefit. S. So the question is: How to establish such an influence, such a bestowal between us when we are in such a state so we should have a constant state of recognition of evil?
R. We need to understand that the distance between us, if we could connect using modern communication, technology, distance does not have an influence on us. We need to be the same and constant thought about the society where we bring about adhesion. We obtain that adhesion and no matter what states, we will constantly think of the adhesion.
8. S. (38:53) How to feel that you’re in the state of the cats eating from the garbage without eating one’s own flesh?
R. We need to cleave to the society and from that adhesion, to see what are you drawn to compared to them, then you won’t allow yourself to descend to such garbage.
9. S. (39:39) What is complete faith? Is that the lack and the fulfillment are both from the Creator?

10. S. (40:00) When a person turns to the Creator in praise to Him, what type of cooperation, partnership is he building with the Creator?
R. He enters into connection with Him, with the Creator and then he can scrutinize from this connection between them, all the modes of connection: good ones, bad ones, and to strengthen the connection in advance.
11. S. (40:51) What can we do in order to cause the King to forgive us, to give us absolution and pardon us?
R. No, of course He will pardon you, it’s part of our work except we need to work on it, on this request for pardon, for forgiveness and advance accordingly. So constantly that we work specifically on moving farther apart from Him and how can we correct this distancing and connect.
12. S. (41:55) Regarding the state where it comes to the state of a cat eating from the garbage, why in this state is it important to say that everything comes from above, that the Creator lets him feel this?
R. A person by himself would never descend to such things, no. The Creator who causes the descent and the ascent but a person by himself would never put himself in such a lowly degree unless he’s in a state where his will to receive is truly drawing him into it but even that, it is not him, it’s the Creator that’s behind him.
S. So, this that I need to say that the Creator brought me to such lowliness, what does it give me?
R. It gives you a place for work, you overcome, you don’t want, you ask the Creator to save you from this state.
S. Let’s say, I say to myself, ‘you’re a cat in the garbage because you’re truly garbage,’ you’re truly a cat, too?
R. Yes, but who has made me so? The Creator has made that state for me so that I will understand where am I and what to rise from that.
13. S. (43:48) The prayer is the result of the gap, the difference between wanting to be like the Creator and the quality of bestowal which is life as he writes here and this state that you are sentenced to death in your will to receive. So this gap, this difference is what gives you the prayer. So as a result how can you reach a state that you feel that you’re truly sentenced to death? The Creator gives you this, the environment?
R. When you check yourself relative to the environment and to the Creator, you see yourself as the lowest of everyone and you cannot save yourself, you cannot, you have a feeling that that’s it, you’re staying like that and you’re sentenced to death.
S. The environment gives you such a state?
R. After all, the environment, the Creator, you.
S. To feel that you are sentenced to death, that you’re in your ego? Okay, that’s possible but to want to bestow so much that this is life, how is it possible? The environment, where I can give my desire to bestow and act in practice? I can see that the friends are right but the true intention to bestow, to want that so much, to work without reward, self-benefit, how can the environment give you that?
R. The environment can bring an example and he will envy that example.
S. How come others can do it and I can’t?
R. Okay, so I see them bestowing in externality, I do that, too, what can bring me to the intention to bestow called life? This that I’m sentenced to death, okay but I still need to reach the desire for life and then I can come to the prayer and if I don’t want to really, if I don’t want this life, I don’t really care that I’m sentenced to death. Who gives you this gap? Is it the environment, is it the Creator?
R. It’s both, there are many factors that combine to show to a person that he’s in the lowest state possible.
S. Lowly is understood but for a person to want to bestow so much without self-benefit for this to be life?
R. Well, we didn’t speak about that.
S. But if we don’t have that point we don’t have a plea, right?
R. Yes, that’s correct.
S. Is it a gift from above?
R. Yes.
14. S. (46:52) When a person truly descends into the garbage of this world and has no power to resist it and has no power to turn to the Creator to stop this descent, what does he do?
R. To be incorporated among the friends you will derive forces from there, the feeling of what exists between him and the friends between himself and the Creator and then he will want to change his state.
S. And then from this state where does he have the power to incorporate in the friends?
R. He will find the power and the strength out of the gap that he will feel there.
15. S. (47:47) He describes a state here that a person is in denial of his state, that he is in a descent, that he is disconnected and he’s not even in sorrow, he’s not even suffering from it, that he is in the descent, that he fell. I want to ask you: we have a friend in the ten, that he’s in the sensation, as it’s written, he’s in denial that he’s in a descent. He doesn’t want to receive aid from us in the ten, he says, ‘everything’s fine, what do you want from me.’ Actually it’s not fine and he doesn’t come to lessons for a long time, we call him before the morning lesson and he doesn’t answer. So what do you do in this state and how do you help a friend who doesn’t want your help?
R. Every once in a while perhaps you should reach out and connect with him but ultimately there’s a limit to how much a society can carry a person. He’s not a friend, he’s not calling, he’s not coming, he’s not answering, so perhaps, that’s it.
S. To be more precise, he does come to our virtual meetings over the course of the day. We do see him, he incorporates with us but beyond this, that’s it. The question is: Should we be a bit more patient?
R. Yes, leave the connection on Zoom, we’re willing to be in connection with him even though it’s on Zoom.
S. What is it to eat the garbage that I already agreed that it’s bad?
R. Everything that used to give you pleasure in the past and then later you recognize it as waste, things that all relate to reception and not from good connection with others, you go back to them again and you enjoy them again.
16. S. (50:05) I don’t have recognition of evil. It seems that I have a great ten and a great Rav and a great Kli and I’m happy with what the Creator gives me. Is it okay to give thanks to the Creator like this or did I need to ask for something else from Him?
R. You need to decide and to carry out your decision.
17. S. (50:41) How do we come to the lack for true vessels and a true prayer as a ten, so we can reach the true demand to the Creator?
R. Only as a result of the connection between us; only from the connection between us.
18. S. R. You’re in it but in spite of that you have to turn that state into a degree that you can climb, rise above.

R. No, he hears that he’s in a state that he can rise from the state, that it’s not such a good state. So he should get a hold of himself, with his claws, in this good state that they’re telling him about and he should try to climb out of it. There’s nothing you can do here, a prayer, a cry but if you are in a state and they give you the possibility, the feeling that you can rise from the state which is truly bad to a better state, you try to do it. You grab that better state, perform a few actions and then you rise above it and disconnect from yourself. Try to live as if you are already in a higher state with higher values. Therefore, you may not have it but try, you will build yourself with that, like a cat that wishes to climb out of this pit that he’s in, and he’s using all of his strength to try to come out.
23. S. (57:11) This upper perspective that’s disconnected from myself I get from incorporation from the friends?
R. Yes.
S. So the more I incorporate with them and this that I reveal that I am cat, that’s good because then I can grab onto them?
R. You shut your eyes and you connect with them and tie with them.
S. And then to the extent that I am shutting my eyes and I connect to them they raise me?
R. Yes.
24. S. (57:57) If I understand correctly he speaks of a few states where a person is like a cat. One time he says I will remain a cat until the help will come, another time he’s like a cat but he feels pain and suffering from being a cat, it made him despair of whatever was coming out of it. R. In order to understand that salvation is a true thing.
S. How does it make it?
R. He was only getting it through the force of faith, that he prays to the Creator, that the Creator will save him out of this pit that he is in.
25. S. (59:15) About the scrutiny with a cat, I want to take a step back. A person comes to this point, as we say where they wish to advance him from above and then they raise the will to receive, he is looking for fulfillment. R. The difference is whether the society can save them or not.

R. Yes.
26. S. (01:00:23) At that point where person comes to recognition of evil he discovers that he is in garbages as we say and then he imagines the more corrected state. What is the next state? How to imagine myself coming out of it? So instinctively he describes himself as in the garbage and the next state I’m not in the garbage but to exit that state is not in that direction something else it’s incorporation in the society, it’s not like that I’m not corrected and tomorrow I will be corrected, it’s not that, can you clarify the transition at this point?
R. No, a person needs to scrutinize this himself, needs to scrutinize this himself.
27. S. (01:01:23) There are advices for how to overcome despair in the work when a person seemingly discovers he’s a cat and what’s be like a man but he experience also he’s trying to be a man even like the story he becomes a waiter when they throw a mouse he becomes a cat again when falls into that state. So that is clear that I see the mind understand then comes another layer where it says you have to believe it’s written in the book that you have to want this person has no experience there what do you think the part of belief that there is a way out of this loop?
R. From the friends and from the above reason.
S. He says here something as if a person is condemned to sentence to death and he’s looking for someone to save him . So it seems like in corporeality we are all sentenced to death it doesn’t matter righteous, wicked, the lowest person at the end everyone it send to death then says it’s not that kind of death rather in life it’s better to live spiritual life and not the life of a cat. So what can help a person want to choose spiritual life because they are difficult and and unsatisfied it’s always the revelation, recognition of evil and suffering we are in this Loop it is not good? How can we introduce joy to the system, confidence impression?
R. This is out of man’s internals awareness nonetheless to the extend that he appreciates the states that he goes through. There are those who depicted themselves the next world and then they dream about their death, there are those who dream about the death of the world to receive and how would be for them if they don’t have a will to receive. There are those who have overcome the will to receive but can’t use it with the intention to bestow to the others nothing for themselves and he himself diminishes truly to the point of zero, and that’s for him is the most respect state for him that could be, and more and more.
S. But receiving strength from the society from work on the path, it’s fear but you’re not taking the right thing you are taking from society. That’s it, I can be happy that I’m here we have friends, we have meals, we have articles, we have scheduled and some sort of people here really nice and smart and they can fill a person but it’s clear that I shouldn’t be filled by that? But what should I, what exactly should I take from the society and not become confused and look for other things?
R. The point of adhesion of the society and the Creator.
28. S. (01:05:35) You said that the change of intention is a gift of above everything loses taste all the work and excertion, if it is a gift?
R. Well you need to read, you need to see, you need to think to what extent we scurnities the point of adhesion, nothing more to add here.
29. S. (01:06:19) It says that the creed comes from above and if he would guard himself in all kinds of ways nothing would help him because that is how he was decreed from above. Then on the path here to bestow like good state, pain state that are not so good, so we need to learn from them, we need to learn and even from the bad things that we did in the past learn from that too. There is no righteous in the land that never sinned, so each one of us has a huge sack with all those mistakes but not just mistakes but also truly bad things that we did and we need to learn how we correct them.
S. The question is if we are in that state where we read about miracle process of the recognition of evil the will to receive for itself and so on and so forth still you feel the Creator is pulling you even further down even if you think you’re ready for it. The question is when does it end? Rather each time we have greater recognition of evil and greater one?
R. Could be, why it’s important to you? If all your progress depends how we turn this bad to progress, It’s like a wheel that half of its motion is revolving backwards and half of it revolving forward and all in all it moves forward.
S. Even with the friends it feels like they do everything to go stronger in the society, you feel that the Creator’s pulling him down again to fall again to make mistakes again?
R. In order to strengthen the intention, the actions to prepare us but the intentions I guess we still have not reached the state of correction.
30. S. (01:10:17) It says at the beginning of the article is that the purpose of creation is to do good to the created beings it’s different than the correction of creation which is the creatures need to want to do good to the Creator and he keeps going and he says that in Lishma the reward is according to the measure of his desire to bestow to the Creator and punishment is when you don’t have the desire to do it and we learn that a punishment is actually correction, it’s not a bad thing but it’s rather has to bring what to correction. I want to understand how punishment because the rest of the article talks about how the descent it’s the name of the article action during descent, the descent is something that part of the creation of the vessel becauseto bestow to the Creator is already like a reward he’s calling the reward, meaning this punishment in an inability to bestow to become a cat all those things, how do we focus on the fact that it’s actually building the vessel it’s not something bad?

R. There is coarseness that without it you won’t reach ascent you must descend in order to ascend.
S. And in the lesson yesterday you said that the person alone is like a single note?
R. You can’t.
S. There is a building of common deficiency of common vessels?
R. Necessity for the shattering of the vessels.
S. People ask all the time, I have such a problem, I’m a cat, I’m eating from the garbage, how do we?
R. It’s fine each one has such a state.
S. How do we turn it as quickly as possible to a common deficiency?
R. By incorporation with the friends who incorporated with the state of the friends.
S. How do you do that quick or faster?
R. Of course you are here to make a mix from a few states and by them you rise faster from the state.
S. The deficiency is the vessel we say deficiency is a prayer. Is there another vessel it’s pretend is connected, is there another deficiency?
R. How will you express the deficiency you must raise it to the force that brings you out of the lack.
31. S. (01:14:12) Rabash gives us an example of a person sentenced to death then he doesn’t let go of the King he keeps addressing him, crying to Him until he gets what he wants. The question is, does the Kabbalist feel like he is sentenced to death everyday?
R. Why is it important to us?

32. S. (01:15:28) The purpose of creation is to benefit the creatures and correction of creation is to benefit the Creator for the benefit of the Creator so what is the purpose of creation truly?
R. To do good to his created beings.
S. What does it mean for the benefit for the sake of the Creator?
R. When the created beings reach the state the ‘Good That Does Good’ by this they do good to the Creator is supposedly from their behalf but they attain the state that’s towards them the Creator is the Good That Does Good.
S. When does the correction of creation begin, where is the starting point?
R. In the beginning of creation..
S. Person who is born in this world, the beginning of his correction?
R. Yes.
S. When he, is it possible at the point of correction starts from a person who comes to recognize that he wants nothing for the benefit of the Creator?
R. It could be, there are such states.
S. That’s the starting point where you begin to understand, to yearn for the correction? What’s the point of awareness that I wish to reach the purpose of creation?
R. A person gets to the purpose of creation usually by incorporating in the environment and getting a desire from them, and illumination through the group.
S. The desire for what?
R. For the general correction.
S. But they decide to reach to obtain the Creator for the sake of Creator?
R. Yes.
33. S. (01:17:38) Why is the will to receive the risk of death for the spiritual life like he writes in the article?
R. The will to receive itself isn’t a danger of death if a person chooses the will to receive then it’s dangerous for him but the desire itself? It’s not a danger and it’s not death.The will to receive I created the evil inclination and created the Torah the remedy without this foundation there can be created beings and they could not advance.
S. What does this mean that if he chooses it it’s a danger of death?
R. If man has to choose to advance to the Creator to adhere to the Creator and every step if he chooses the will to receive he chooses his death.
S. How can this be felt, he described the will to receive in the article and in general it’s very cruel to do to spread self love every time but here it says like it’s nice and cute? How can we see, it’s cruelness that works to put a person down in all kinds of ways?
R. We don’t see it. He is wise enough in order to show the person that is bringing him death. On the contrary it is showing a person that is bringing him life pleasures and this and that and all kinds of things. In a very quick time a person can fill himself, and we see as much as we sometimes disconnect from the path or its eternality and we get immersed in all kinds of stupid things ,food ,sex, family,money, lust, honor, knowledge.
S. How can we identify this danger and we don’t see that we live in the mud?
R. Through the society where everyone is in a different state every time and and the main thing is that the Creator’s taking care of the society of the Ten that’s why he won’t let them fall. Only in such a way, a person on his own? No chance.
34. S. (01:20:20) He says the person doesn’t see Him unless he has no serious sensation, what does that mean?
R. Anything that disconnects him from internality.
S. How to see the true benefit of evil and to use it correctly?
R. That all this evil is directing us in an opposite way towards the right direction.
S. He writes the Creator can help the person, only the Creator can help the person help a friend can help a person on the path?
R. By aiming him towards the Creator.

R. Why? Whatever he has to have it in order to bestow. To invert it.
S. But how can you reach such a request from the bottom to ask for the highest possible thing?
R. What’s in the middle?

R. What 10 steps?
S. How can you ask from the lowest possible state to ask for the highest state?
R. That’s only from the same desire that you have. You are in right now so you want to see in it only an expression of bestowal.
S. But still, I’m in a state of complete unconsciousness and when I feel that I’m unconscious, how can a cat, a cat can pull himself with his nails but how can a cat pray for bestowal?

S. He’s not asking for bestowal,he’s a cat he’s asking to come out?

S. How to come out of this I understand but here he talks to us for spiritual Kli vessel, that is something much higher
R. That’s called to come out of the pit.
S. So he asks for what he can right?
R. Yes.
43. S. (01:28:17) I heard that I will to receive give us a pleasure from nonsense and how the society can connect to internality, so if the person is now in this state that he is getting fulfillment from nothing from nonsense that’s his state and now comes the time of connecting in the Ten,he comes this connection and in his internality he’s now enjoying nonsense, so what does he do with the connection in the friends?
R. It still works on him even though he can’t cancel himself towards the environment. The environment still works on him because between them there is already some kind of agreement of Arvut and that he is Incorporated in the desires of that environment. it affects him and he starts uplifting. The force of faith is the force of connection between us that we can build a system that holds us all because on the system of those 10 people it can be less but let’s say 10 people, we hold a spiritual system.

R. Which transition?
