Part 1:
Rabash. Article No. 20 (1989) What Does It Mean that the Evil Inclination Ascends and Slanders, in the Work?
1. Rav’s Introduction (0:35) Yes. The Creator pushes us to actions that ultimately have to lead us to the purpose of Creation in two forces; the good inclination and the bad inclination. The bad inclination is the first because it is born together with the man and it develops together with men and it develops man. The good inclination comes from a special period, if it comes at all, it comes to the person and gives him the possibility to make a change in his behavior and thus shift from the evil inclination to the good inclination and with his own strength he begins to approach the goal. So let’s see how that happens to us. But both this and that inclination have to accompany the person from here till the end of correction.
Reading Article (01:53) “It is written in The Zohar”
R. (22:23) The article is not so long, relatively short and not too difficult but nevertheless any questions?
2. S. (22:37) What are we reading here that the Torah that he reads gives him the recognition of evil, the farther it comes and lets him multiple things in order to receive that not allow him to, so what is the person to do then?
R. The person besides prayer doesn’t have what to do or give, but still he scrutinizes what he has to do and does it. His will to receive nevertheless brings him to progress towards the purpose of creation but also through opposites from the purpose of creation and then he has no choice. He sees that with what he’s got in him he cannot advance and then by prayer he asks and he states.
S. Where are our efforts to work into connection, enter to this thing, into this process?
R. In this whole process we are as tens that are working on connection between them, inside of them, and that’s how they advance.
S. It is a preparation for everything that is written here or?
R. No, not a preparation, we are doing this work, it’s already going through us. The only question is in what way, in what force does it happen and how do we feel it, how do we scrutinize it.
3. S. (24:44) I don’t know, I have a feeling with this article that we don’t have enough faith, that the Creator can’t help us and then he gives us these foreign thoughts and then if I truly believe it then these foreign thoughts will not come up to us?
R. No, you have to understand that alien thoughts they’re helpful except they do it from the other side. We advance by two forces. Therefore foreign thoughts come and slander against the Creator and his help in men’s qualities and his ability to overcome and that is specifically in order to clarify these things to us. It’s one thing out of its opposite, that’s how it happens so we don’t need to direct ourselves against these forces rather we have to accept them to begin with and they are helping us not make a mistake. They help us clarify the path and move forward by negative forces we do advance correctly. We just have to not fall into despair and put more and more strength and effort into depicting the bad force and the good force as if by both of them we reach the goal.
S. The more we advance we discover the truth more?
R. Right, but the truth is such that we are incapable, all right we’re incapable, so what? This is not our goal here to succeed, to gain. Our goal rather is to discover that nothingness of our strength and mind in clarifying and doing all that we have to do, that we’re incapable of anything. So what do we do? That’s what we do, meaning that we scrutinize and we see that we can’t and we somehow advance by the good force but it’s still not true progress because of the evil for us also grows for now and so we end up each time in a state where with the good force we discover how much the bad force is in control of us. And that’s how we advance towards a state that we start crying, asking for help.
S. To advance with the good force means that we advance with the friends?
R. Certainly yes. In a single individual there is no faith to attain that. Only with the friends and the group with preparations and working in the group against the distance that they feel between them that’s how we advance.
4. S. (28:39) He writes that there is a correction from above that a person yet doesn’t have the ability to correct, he’s not shown what he needs to correct?
R. That’s right, this is called you don’t put an obstacle in front of a blind man. Blind meaning one who cannot see the disturbance and that he’s not being shown because what’s the use of that? He’ll just fall and won’t even know why and that’s called the blind man. So that’s not, that’s not what is happening only to one who can process it and take it to progress.
S. We digest this each and every day more and we see what we need to correct and from that point what does it mean to begin to correct?
R. To begin to correct means that he actually begins to connect with the good forces and the bad forces and use both of them correctly in order to advance. To go forward means that you learn how to walk correctly on the left line by the right line. Left and right, left and right and that’s how you advance and each time you’ll have more left but you’ll all already know how you need to work with the right and that’s progress.
S. What happens if a person sees like you say, he sees the left and he says; why can’t I just live with it? What is the point where he must bring it to the right?
R. He feels the left in him and that he can no longer stand it and then by the right he completes the left and moves forward, there’s no other way.
5. S. (31:24) How to burn, how do we use this fire of Torah correctly?
R. The fire of Torah burns all the crimes because the middle line comes and it governs both lines.
6. S. (31:54) The more there is revelation of evil, the more the person discovers himself as more negative, or bad, weaker, he’s actually coming closer to the Creator?
R. No, that’s not sufficient. The fact that he’s being shown more evil means that he has shown his overcoming and he can be shown the bad, but by that he still doesn’t attain anything. He still has to make some work to overcome and advance foreward and that’s how he moves, from left to right and left to right.
S. So the revelation of evil will always come to one as a surpise. It’s not something he initiated but rather suddenly he discovers it.
R. We will learn, there are different aspects here.
S. All together with the revelation of evil the feeling towards it comes also, that he can’t do anything about it. One can discover something about it and say okay that’s what I have. On the other hand one can discover something about himself and be stressed by this, so this distress will yield a prayer but if this distress doesn’t come then there won’t be any prayer. How much is in his hands this matter of reaching a prayer?
R. That’s according to the states. Not in each and every state is he in prayer, but at times, sometimes yes, sometimes no.
S. Okay, he has to phrase a certain prayer or a..?
R. No, there’s no such thing that he must. He has to come to identification with the Creator in each and every step that he moves towards the purpose of creation. If he does that, good, if he cannot do it he clarifies what’s disturbing him and for that part that disturbs him he prays to the Creator, seeing that he can’t overcome that.
S. In any case he has to scrutinize. If he doesn’t scrutinize it means he missed the opportunity?
R. Well let’s say he doesn’t miss it, we have to understand that it’ll come. If not this way then another way, if not now then later, but there’s no such thing that it just went and there’s no longer any opportunity.
S. I mean the question is should I work according to my intuition or there is some method here that a person has to get used to and follow it?
R. Yes, there is a method.
7. S. (35:01) I’m asking about the revelation of evil that is shown to a person. It says about David in the Zohar it is written that a person must not accuse himself because then the slanderer takes it, he comes up and he slanders about person rightfully. How when a person receives a revelation of evil about himself, how can he raise a prayer to the Creator for correction without giving permission to the slanderer to slander him?
R. I don’t know what it is, that and I don’t go into contact with these forces, I have nothing to do with that. I just see if I can muster the strength against the hurdle, if I need to recruit the strength, what I can and can’t do and to pray to the Creator to help me. I’ll contact Him and with His help I’ll overcome the hurdle.
S. When a person receives the nothingness of these forces in terms of correcting the situation he’s in, how does he turn to the Creator effectively through the Ten? What does he do in the Ten so that his prayer will be pure and effective?
R. First of all you have to nullify inside the ten, that’s the first stage, to pray to unite with them as one man in one heart. Then from that feeling that comes then he’ll pray to the Creator.
S. How does he ask or pinpoint in a very specific manner for what he was shown from above? He simply describes it the way that it was shown to him, precisely in the same way?
R. He describes it the way he feels, how he feels it in his heart.
8. S. (37:21) In the revelation of evil I get the same package, also motivation or the motivation is something that I get in a different place?
R. Typically there is some motivation there too, yes, but it’s hidden.
9. S. (37:46) He describes a process where a person becomes empty of the will to receive and it reaches a point of zero. The question is what does he do with these necessary desires, essential desires, food, sex, family, etcetera?
R. These are desires that come from the beastly degree and he now cares about acquiring the human degree, to resemble the Creator. There’s no competition here or something that prevents another thing, he just shifts himself from beastly desires to human desires.
S. Yes, so it’s hard for him to sustain the beast. His actions about taking care of the body, taking care of the family, there’s no urgency, no power to perform such actions.
R. He doesn’t do it with his desire but according to the habit and what he determined for himself mechanically. I understand that he doesn’t have the mind and the heart now to go and look for other jobs to do or he can’t be some expert now in finding some new kind of employment or something, there’s no strength. A person knows only starting on the path but on the other hand he has to do it according to habit, according to the clock.
S. Is it okay to ask for the strength for such desires so I’ll be able to perform these actions?
R. Yes, of course.
10. S. (40:20) In the end it says that it follows, that the Torah sends him the bad thoughts and then he falls into loneliness and he sees that he’s immersed in self-love and he doesn’t believe that the Creator can help him. Then he continues, that you are not worthy of the Creator helping you but rather he only helps people that are more important than you and we need to burn it to the fire of the law of Torah and a person has to leave a state of lowliness where he is actually completely disconnected. What does it mean you have to burn in the fire of the Torah? How can he emerge from such a state?
R. He has to long for the goal. The goal Is to be connected to the Creator through connection with the friends, and he has to invest himself in that. It’s basically so direct and simple that it’s hard for us to escape it. If we want to see the truth then there’s two steps, to the love of the created beings and from that to the love of the Creator and one always needs to see himself towards that is that he is doing something towards that or not and in every moment that he examines himself is used needs to renew one action and another action in relation to getting closer to the group and to the Creator.
S. But he feels that he’s always not worthy and not worthy of the Ten?
R. No, one is worthy. Tell me,who is worthy? Rabbi Shimon before he was rewarded, was he worthy? No, even worse than the others. Worse than you, it is written that one who is greater than his friend his inclination is greater than himself. Meaning that being he had disturbances and conditions that are worse than yours.
S. There’s no intention that a person cannot aim it to this place where he wants connection with the Ten from such a place from such lowliness?
R. No one just received something from heaven just like that as a package that falls on him and he just opens it up and enjoys it.
S. We work without the desire or…?
R. As much as we can. There is no such thing that we will work without a desire. One is given some desire but a weak desire, a partial desire. He is given some area to work.
One is not just left alone, in short
11. S. (43:36) We need to reach the state where we no longer need to use the vessels of reception, what causes a person to reach such a state?
R. In the meantime, that you don’t want to use the vessels of reception you want to refrain from them, you want to know how to work with vessels of bestowal only and then you do once again some in the vessels of reception to work with them.
S. How can we accelerate or hasten the time that we need to reach such a state?
R. Only by working with the group there’s no other advice .
12. S. (44:18) What is labor, actually, exertion?
R. Exertion means that I try to do something against my desire.
S. How do I renew the exertion each and every day?
R. Look at what you need versus what you want.
S. I mean that the exertion in the end becomes kind of a habit, so how do you renew it, how do you make it so that you’re always exerting?
R. Labor can’t really be a habit because each time you have to labor on some new disturbance in order to advance, to make another step forward, therefore the labor renews our life.
S. If labor comes before the prayer or after the prayer?
R. When a person activates the prayer; typically, he first examines where he is, what needs to be achieved, what for and how. Then he understands that he has to attain the force of bestowal and in order to do that he has to pray, to labor and to bring himself closer to the force of bestowal, and that’s where the labor begins.
S. There are two kinds, one that is before the prayer and after the prayer, really?
R. Before that prayer, it’s not really labor because we just advanced but after we are examine ourselves it becomes clearer to us what we lack in order to make a a step forward and we ask for strength for that?
S. What is actually a thought that comes to a person, what is ‘a thought’ that comes to a person?
R. I thought that comes to a person is the thought about how to advance towards the purpose of creation.
S. Do I determine if it’s good or bad?
R. You determine also, yes.
S. How do I make this determination?
R. By comparing what you want to reach versus what’s in the purpose of Creation.
S. What is that fire that should always burn, the bad thoughts?
R. It’s not that it’s ready, it’s you and your attitude toward in your hatred to foreign thoughts, you burn everything that is around the correct thought.
S. This will actually build in me the prayer?
R. It’s expressed in prayer, yes.
13. S. (49:19) How to shift the recognition of evil from the mind to the heart, from a state where a person sees the evil in him, that he’s immersed in self-love to the point up where he feels that the evil as bad, that he suffers from that state and a prayer emerges from him, is that within man?
R. It’s by man’s hands, by his work in the group.
14. S. (47:58) Can we say that the deficiency connects love and faith?
R. That’s it, yes.
15. S. (48:20) In this partnership between the Creator and the person, the part of the Creator is clear, the question is what is the part with the created being in this partnership and also why does the Creator need this partnership?
R. Of course it happens towards the Creator, we connect to the Creator, He’s our partners from our partnership with the friends and between the tens, that’s ultimately in order to reach adhesion with the Creator.
S. But what is the created being give to this partnership with the Creator it’s clear, He gives the soul, the spirit, what is the created being give?
R. Labor, labor and scrutiny, how does it a baby grow, by putting efforts in all kinds of actions and endeavors and trying to do this and this and that. The Creator awakens these things in him on the one hand, and on the other hand, the Creator fulfills him due to the efforts.
S. The question is why does the Creator even need all this headache between Him and the created being, why does He need it, why does he need it? He can do whatever He wants, the Creator, He can give the person everything?
R. Right, but He wants it to be at the account of the created being.
S. What’s on the account of the created being?
R. That man will earn it, will have it, that it’ll be his, that he’ll own it, he’ll know how to do these actions and what he needs to receive, that he needs to own the action.
S. Actually all the person has to do in this partnership is labor towards the Creator?
R. Yes, it says that “my sons have defeated Me”.
16. S. (50:26) The father gives the whiteness, the mother gives the redness, this is the entrance to Ibur, conception?
R. This is an entrance into conception, yes.
S. The Creator gives spirit, soul, Ruach, Neshama, that’s already the birth?
R. It’s not birth, it’s in order to connect the whiteness and the redness, and begin by that, the beginning of future of the embryo.
S. The future newborn?
R. Yes.
S. What’s the difference between Ruach and Neshama, spirit or soul, does He give this or that?
R. This or that, these are degrees, Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama, Chaya and Yechida.
S. No, it’s one degree after the other, so He gives both Ruach and Neshama?
R. We’re not going to go into this now but He gives internality.
17. S. (51:46) I still didn’t understand how by drawing the reforming light it becomes a fire,we learn, we study, that we draw the reforming light, what makes it ‘a fire’?
R. The light that we attract is light of Hochma, when it comes to the vessel of reception it them, literally, from that, out of the Reshimot, new embryos develop.
S. And what does he mean that “these fires should always be burning, should always be on the altar”, he says, “it should be an everlasting fire on the altar”, what does it mean that “it should always be burning”?
R. That we have to be ready to burn everything that prevents us from advancing but in a simple way.
18. S. (53:02) “Ready to burn anything that hinders our advancement.”
R. Yes?
S. It requires power to do so.
R. We ask, we pray, we come together first of all and then we pray together to the Creator and He helps, everything’s done by the Creator, we ask.
S. In the article it says that “if a person invests forces his nothingness is revealed to him”, so nothingness is not power, so?
R. No, no, no, it’s on the way, he’s being shown that he’s incapable of anything; well alright, so he keeps praying, ‘help me, give me’, it’s one of the stages of the scrutiny, what a person has to do, what he can’t do.
19. S. (54:00) He opens the article by writing that “our foundation, our basis should be faith”, without this we can’t even begin to talk about corrections, so where do we even acquire faith?
R. We receive from above, the force of faith is the force of bestowal, it’s a force that without it we can’t make any step forward correctly.
S. But he writes that “without faith there’s nothing to talk about”, so if without faith there’s nothing to talk about why do we talk about all the other things?
R. We long to reach faith, on the way to faith we overcome in connection, in mutual work between us, until we come to the powers of faith at least to some degree that each one can trust the other and contribute and give. And that’s how we begin to feel how we work with shared forces.
S. What does faith give us?
R. Faith gives us the ability to feel the other and work with him in one body, ‘as one man in one heart’.
S. Is it a Kli, what is that thing?
R. Faith is the vessel where I feel the other as a part of myself and I’m willing to be inside of him as a part of him.
S. It’s not part of everything we talk about, the correction of the will to receive and so on, it proceeds that?
R. Correction of the will to receive, of course, but it still happens in such a way that I get a part of you and I work with it, and you get a part of me and you work with it and then between us there is also something that is created, it is a part of Adam HaRishon which is corrected.
S. So it turns out that the work is basically ‘you never work on yourself, you always work on that part in the other?
R. Yes, it’s either inside of him or inside of me.
S. I’m in him and he’s in me, so where’s your correction if you’re always work on that?
R. These are the corrections, what other corrections do we need to see, only those where it’s ”I to my beloved and my beloved to me”.
S. What do you correct in him?
R. The incorporation, Hitkalelut.
S. You correct the incorporation in the part of the friend?
R. In my part, I correct him, in his part he corrects me, and then we connect.
S. But what do you correct in his part, because in the process you always discover the lack of correction in you, so what do you correct in him?
R. I get a part of him within me and he corrects my part within him.
20. S. (57:50) Can we say that progress in the spiritual path is to reach the recognition of evil in us?
R. Yes, in the end this is how it happens, but besides the recognition of evil or according to the measure of the recognition of evil, we also have to corrected the recognition of good.
21. S. (58:18) How do we create the middle line?
R. We do not establish the middle line but rather we want to reach it but it comes to us from above.
22. S. (58:32) What happens if there’s a lack of the left line?
R. If the left line is missing, well it means the lack of connection with the society.
S. How to work correctly on the left and right lines?
R. Left and right, or in the right?
23. S. (58:56) How do we go correctly on the left light and right line?
R. Well, we need to see this according to the actions; first of all we must always work on the right as much as possible towards connection, towards opening up together with the friends. And then as much as we get the opposite, the left, over that we also need to make corrections.
24. S. (59:30) Is there an example of how to work with the vessel of bestowal?
R. In our world, I don’t know, what can we show? If one wants to help another, well think about it, we can talk about it some other time. There are many things that happen here.
25. S. (01:00:05) You answered a friend before that “an obstacle is not put in front of a blind man”, and still if the Creator gave the friend a state that because of it, the friend doesn’t come to the lesson, so did the obstacle made him fail or did his power couldn’t overcome that?
R. Let’s say so?
S. How does the ten lift the friend above this obstacle who’s not with us in the lesson?
R. Well, it does whatever is possible, Rabash writes her and there about this in many places, about how do you lift a friend, how do you save him. We need to work on it, it’s not just one from the ten, somebody who’s in charge and he’s told that he is responsible. But rather each and every one must realize that he touches his own fate.
26. S. (01:01:19) In the discussion with a friend you explained that I need to correct the part of the friend that resides in me. So in terms of the prayer, I always pray for the friends and to give to the friends but if we start from the premise that the friends are corrected then I have to pray for myself, but isn’t that something for self, is it okay to pray for myself?
R. Just try to become incorporated in them and start praying for their part in you and your part in them and it’s not so important as long as you connect together as ‘one man with one heart’.
27. S. (01:02:06) Rabash writes, “afterwards he comes to despair, to such a lowliness that he can’t believe that the Creator can help us according to seeing his own lowliness, how he is immersed in self-love”. What is the goal that Rabash describes this state for us, here?
R. So you will know what kind of states we have, that we may reach and fall into, but nevertheless we have to turn to the Creator. And the Creator saves us by bringing us to the group, that’s it.
28. S. (01:02:52) In the beginning of the article I got a bit confused, how do I know that I’m not justifying myself, how do I know that I advance?
R. Repeat, I didn’t understand him.
S. Rabash says “that in order to learn that we’re going backwards that’s also a sign that I’m not making efforts”, how can I not justify myself? How do I really know that I advance and that I’m not moving backwards or that I don’t justify myself for not going forward?
R. Can someone explain the question to me?
S. He writes that “the more a person advances on the path he sees that he is going backwards”, so the friend is asking how does he know that he’s advancing on the path by seeing that he’s going backwards, or that he calms himself down, that maybe he’s not doing any work but that he’s actually moving backwards?
R. We always advance on the right or on the left ,and therefore if I’m connected with the group then I’m either on the right or on the left but it advancing forward. I might be doing it through criticism, maybe even disagreement with something or with someone or I do agree and I’m connected. However this way or that way I am advancing; now, the questions may be how to accelerate the advancement, this is about how quickly I realize that without the right or without the light, without reaching connection I cannot take any step forward.
S. Maybe also like this: When a person discovers the lowness of himself, how does he interpret it, is it because he’s falling behind or because he’s advancing?
R. Does he see that he’s advancing or not advancing, what do you mean?
S. If he discovers his lowliness of himself more and more coporeal, more lowly, so is it because he’s being lazy in the work, or because he’s advancing then his broken state is being shown to him?
R. I don’t know, the true work is that in any state, when he feels that he is connected to the ten through some positive or negative phenomenon, he sees it as advancing, it depends on which side, which leg.
29. S. (01:07:19) Rabash gives the order of the work here, that first thing, I don’t use the will to receive that means that “the father gives whiteness and then the Bina gives redness”; how do I get these actions that when I want to do the connections with the friends and I don’t succeed, what do I do next?
R. I try to be together with the friends, connected in heart and soul as much as possible in each and every state, and I begin to discern in our states, different forms that this is the right and this is the left, this is the intention, and this is bestowal, this is criticism, this is the opposite, etc. Then in that, I begin to see my progress in each and every state, however what I need to do is to always make efforts in the connection between us. And then I will understand and I will see that the Creator is giving me an opportunity to come close to each time, on the right or on the left.
30. S. (01:08:40) What can obligate the person to make a decision not to use the will to receive?
R. Well, it’s that he wants to advance, so now he doesn’t want to work with his vessels of reception because he sees in them a part that can obstruct him, that’s on the one hand; on the other hand, nevertheless he has no choice and you will have to use the vessels of reception however in different, new forms.
31. S. (01:0:32) How can this ‘burning fire’ be used in our work to come to the Partzuf of the middle line?
R. I don’t understand, again?
S. How can this ‘burning fire’ be used in our work to come to the Partzuf of the middle line?
R. It’s after we go through the right and the left and then we reach the middle, when we already know how to awaken the upper light so it will burn within me the entire will to receive, the intention of the will to receive, and will balance me on the middle line. It’s not immediately, it’s after we know how to shift from the left to the right and from the right to the left, and then to build the middle line
S. Where is the fire felt?
R. The fire is felt inside a person’s desire where he feels everything, his whole desire, in his heart you could say.
S. What is the meaning of this ‘fire’, what is happening in us when we feel this fire?
R. Gevurot, Gevurot, we will learn what this means but it is Gevurot.
32. S. (01:11:39) It says here that a person determines 100% that if the Creator doesn’t help him he stays in self love. That means there’s a vessel and deficiency and then the fulfillment appears meaning that the Creator gives the longing and desire to bestow. Why is the desire to bestow called fulfillment then not deficiency?
R. Because what is it you want in your corrected vessel? To bestow. What will fill you? The fact that you bestow, the act of bestowal.
S. The Creator gives a desire to bestow and He too needs to be fulfilled or it all ends there?
R. Did you ever see how a mother nurses a little child? When he is filled, when he enjoys it he becomes like a little bloated balloon and then she wipes his mouth and she thanks him. The mother thanks the child because he gave her pleasure. This is exactly what we feel when we bestow.
S. Meaning this desire from this pleasure, from the desire to bestow, this is the conclusion of the action?
R. Yes.
S. And afterwards a person once again discovers that, falls again and then continues?
R. Yes, of course.
33. S. (01:13:43) How can we increase our desire to give pleasure and bestow to the Creator in the work so that we can unite our hearts as one, our souls as one?
R. Also through connection between us, as we learn from each other through envy, lust and honor. Those should advance us towards adhesion with the Creator.
34. S. (01:14:20) He says the father gives whiteness and the mother gives redness instead of saying the will to receive and the ability to only make actions of bestowal. Is there some value in the explanation through allegories that advances us spiritually rather than direct explanation? Is there some benefit in speaking through allegories like saying the father gives whiteness and the mother gives redness rather than the ability to….?
R. I don’t know, I never heard such things, something about the will to receive, etcetera. We will speak in Aba and Ima, try to speak in their style and then everyone will have the same language.
35. S. (01:15:35) Good morning, thank you for your patience. The question is as follows: how to not fall into fear when I have the feeling of the left line?
R. What can you do? We have to relinquish everything, raise our hands and we don’t care what happens we simply have to reach the purpose of creation, the purpose of life. What happens along the way, let it happen. Of course sometimes we fall into fear and we shiver and it’s unpleasant and we don’t know what will happen, etcetera but what can you do? This is what we have to pay for, for our shells in order to get rid of them. It’s worthwhile to burn them.
36. S. (01:16:43) So what is the relation between Aba and Ima, the soul Neshama and advancing in left and right?
R. We will learn it. Here didn’t he didn’t talk about AVI and all those things. We’ll talk about it later.
37. S. (01:17:11) It is written that this is the Torah of correction but why is it called the Torah of the burden?
R. Because of its operation, it lifts a person to the purpose of creation.
38. S. (01:18:11) You might have already answered but it’s still unclear to us. When evil is revealed in me do I need to speak of it in the tens so we can pray better together or will it bring the left line into the ten and then it’s better to pray for it personally?
R. I didn’t hear what he said.
S. Again when I see that the evil is revealed in me do I need to talk about it in the ten, to pray for it together or will that bring the left line into the ten and it’s better not to talk about it in the ten and to pray for it individually?
R. Did you understand? Help me.
S. Yes, she’s asking when her evil is revealed…
R. Oh, and the one who’s asking?
S. The evil is revealed in her, should she bring it to the ten? Is that left line? She’s afraid to bring the left line to the ten or should she pray for it alone?
R. She should begin to pray alone and then move on to the ten.
S. How to bring it to the ten so that it won’t be the left line?
R. But she’s already bringing her own solution. She first does it herself and then brings it to the ten.
S. So what does she bring to the ten then?
R. She brings to the ten the knowledge, the awareness that now they can all work in the left line.
39. S. (01:20:01) What is the difference between Ruach and Neshama?
R. The difference is that spirit is a general name, a general term of things that operate in a person now and the soul, Neshama is the corrected state.
40. S. (01:20:48) How do actions influence one another? Are there actions that one person has to do?
R. The friend too has to act in response. There’s a double benefit here both for us and for the friends.
S. If he does not do such actions?
R. Remind him over and over, in the end there will come a time where he does it.
S. How will he understand what actions he needs to do?
R. He will look at you and will understand.
41. S. (01:21:48) The right line seems like it’s easy work but how can you advance on the left line without having the right? On the right I have the group with me but on the left I’m alone. How to go back to the right from the left line without harming the group?
R. I go to the left line in order to return from there to the right, for the sake of the whole group.
42. S. (01:22:35) Sometimes a person wants evil to be revealed but how does he know that the evil that’s revealed is in fact being revealed from the Creator and it’s not some morals or something from his ego?
R. If it is revealed, if the evil is revealed to a person then there’s None Else Besides Him, there’s None Else Besides Him.
43. S. (01:23:08) It is described in the article a state where the person feels himself as righteous and he takes his lowliness only from the fact that there are people that are more righteous than him. How does he come out of that and reach truth and why is such an obstacle given to a person?
R. In order for a person to also see the boundaries otherwise his nose will be up in the sky, he will be very, very arrogant.
44. S. (01:23:47) Should we remain with the same prayer, with the same cry until we reach a complete prayer or do we need to renew the prayer every time and not remain with the same one?
R. Again?
S. Should we remain with the same cry that is being revealed until we get a response or not stay with the same one and constantly try to renew different prayers that are being revealed?
R. Yes. We have to try to activate different prayers and in the end everything will be revealed to him because there are things that are connected to each other here.
45. S. (01:24:43) It’s talking about here the matter of advancement, that a person discovers he doesn’t have strength to bestow and it’s written here that there is a correction from above, that a person won’t see his true state and that will be given only from above. What is that same correction and how does a person when he reaches this state discover this limitation that comes to him from above?
R. From above a little bit is revealed to a person so he can advance and this little bit is always measured according to the person’s ability, to the extent how connected he is to the society and what is his record, let’s call it this way, according to his previous actions. And accordingly the evil is revealed to him. The evil is not in order to fail him but in order to promote him to advance, that’s it.
S. The person comes to the King’s Palace, the gate is open and he’s invited in. The person can see and feel a state which is purely emotional and in a state that the Creator is in one’s heart. How does a person feel it?
R. We will advance and see. First of all let the gate be open for us.
46. S. (01:26:24) Maybe this is related to the friends question. What is related to fool who sits with his arm folded and eats his own flesh when it is shown to the person the flaws he done in the past, what he’s harmed, etcetera?
R. With respect to the past nothing is our fault, whatever is past is in the past, we must not be sorry. It’s just as you said, the fool who sits with hands folded and eats his old flash. We have no transgressions in the past, whatever is past is past, that’s it. Only about the present do we need to see that we don’t make mistakes, that we can already distinguish and divide them into what is a mistake and a transgression or a Mitzvah, a good deed.
S. Yes, but there are things that have impact all the time even for now?
R. It’s in the corporeal world, in the spiritual world there aren’t any, there’s nothing. If a moment is passed, it’s past. That’s it, the account is closed. Now every moment, every day is new.
S. I don’t….
R. It’s just like here in this world. Every day a person is new, everyday the calculation with him is new. So what’s the problem? You get up tomorrow morning with a new song in your heart.
S. But I still have results from the past, some things that I’m not happy for, glad with. It’s just however it ends up.
R. It doesn’t matter, I’m telling you. You have to see yourself as you get up as new, as if you were born, that’s it.
S. With all the sins and transgressions?
R. With everything that happened. Erase everything and start a new slate.
47. S. (01:29:01) If a person won’t see his true state before he’s able to correct, what does it mean that he’s able to correct?
R. He’s able to correct, he’s able to process his real state and ask for correction for it.
48. S. (01:29:32) I would like to continue the friend’s question. What happened in the past, let’s say it caused some disconnect between a friend and I now I get up in the morning and there is a disconnect with a friend. What does it mean that I come to this anew?
R. That you have to come to the friend and say I understood what happened then and that I was totally wrong. I want to erase everything that happened, that’s it.
S. So from this state that I am now, to clean up everything?
R. Yes, yes.
49. S. (01:30:27) What to do so that we can think only of the friends and the Creator all the time?
R. Think.
S. [no translation]
R. There’s no point of choice here, you are constantly in them, together with them.
S. There are other thoughts and you say okay I’ll think later of the friends and now I’ll deal with nonsense.
R. That’s also good.
S. How to overcome this?
R. Ask the Creator, always ask from the Creator because from Him you get every single thought, good, bad, small, great.
50. S. (01:31:37) How do we reach from love thy friend as thyself to love the Creator with all your heart and all of your soul and all of your being?
R. I don’t know. We haven’t reached the state of love your friend as yourself so as to jump from there to love the Lord your God.
S. Okay. Joy is a sign of faith and a result of good deeds, is it so?
R. It is written so.
51. S. (01:32:40) Could you help us understand, we’re in awe towards the prayer and constantly trying to understand what it is. For example there’s a prayer that we put together a long time ago and every day we’re hitting that point. Now I hear that the prayer needs to be renewed every day. What does it mean that the prayer is renewed everyday? Is it emotion, is it words, is it an attitude or do we take the same prayer we put together a year and a half ago and constantly through it knock on the Creator’s door?
R. The important thing is for your relation to the Creator to be renewed so it becomes stronger, more stubborn. How it is implemented is not so important.
52. S. (01:33:47) It is a combination of the whole lesson. Every time, every day we experience things we don’t agree with. We don’t like either the friends or the world or whatever. Isn’t this the point where we can renew our prayer to see the world and our friends as the perfect created being which is created by the Creator?
R. Yes of course, this is how we should see the Creator, the operations of the Creator, ourselves. Did you understand her question? So I guess that’s it.
53. S. (01:35:20) When a friend speaks about, slanders about herself toward the ten what to do?
R. She is speaking badly about herself or about the ten?
S. Herself. She says she’s worse than the others she’s….
R. Well, there are people whose nature is to say that they are worse than everyone else, yes. Normally when people talk about themselves they say that they’re better than everyone because the will to receive doesn’t let them see the bad in them, and the good in them they want to bring it out and show to everyone, that’s the way it is. So it happens, now what to do? I don’t know, I think these things just pass with time. Just like they want to show the bad in them also the good in them; don’t pay attention so much to what the friends are saying, let time do its thing. Let time do its thing.
54. S. (01:37:15) How to not be in the state of a fool that eats his own flesh and to really be in a state that is beneficial?
R. Repeat.
S. He says in one of the Shamati Articles that there has to be complete prayer also on the past. How to do a prayer for the past without being a fool?
R. Look, sometimes there come times where we reflect about the past, or the whole group begins to get a feeling in connection of how good we are or bad, how good we were or bad but still usually we don’t reflect about the past. We still aren’t knowledgeable enough in order to make the right calculations about the past, this is number one. Number two: tell me please, what do you have today to correct that you are certain that in today’s state you can criticize the past? Each day a person is new. He looks at yesterday, at the day before yesterday and what happened a year ago if he can imagine it. It’s impossible but let’s say it is. So then what will happen? In other words, we in the end are stuck in this until the light comes and shines for us correctly with its light over our entire path. We learned at school about the still, vegetative, animate and speaking, how nature evolves so we will know, so we have this panorama of how we evolve, how we constantly change and how we can judge today from tomorrow, it’s not simple. When you speak to children you’ll see how it can be done. This is why it’s very difficult for us to do this on the axis of time, it is a big problem. We’ll learn it afterwards but I’m not going to open these things up right now. The incorporation of vessels in vessels is something that is really not simple. As those who learned in math, it is the incorporation of numbers, today with yesterday, what steps are taken, it’s not a good idea not for now. It is written about it until the Messiah comes and what does it say there? Yes, so until the third writing comes and decides between them. So we’re done with this, what should we do next?
