Part 1:
From Lo Lishma [not Lishma], we come to Lishma [Lishma] – Selected Excerpts from the sources. #6
1. Rav’s Introduction: (00:33) Our work begins with having to feel where we really are with respect to the Creator. It is the one unique and unified force that fills everything, surrounds everything and there is nothing else besides it and therefore how do we constantly feel, want to feel, are supposed to feel, come closer to feel, are going to feel Him as filling everything and surrounding everything. Here we should position ourselves in such a way that there will not be any disturbance as much as possible between us and the Creator. Therefore, we need to constantly depict ourselves as being in His world and our goal is to come to a state where it is clear to us that there is None Else Besides Him completely in all of our senses. This is what we have to attain, so let’s see how they depict it for us in their excerpts, our teachers.
Reading 6. Twice (02:41)
2. R. (07:33) When we begin our spiritual work it seems to us like we can advance with our own strength, that the more we do, the more actions, the more prayers, the more all kinds of forms of connection, this will advance us. And it takes a long time until we see that these things, although they are correct in terms of the action but in terms of the intention or the result we are not succeeding. Here we come to a situation where we understand that there is a difference between Lo Lishma and Lishma, not for her sake and for her sake. That we need an additional force here that we don’t have. That we are still in the will to receive we are born in and developed in thus far and we need to come to a new intention, a new desire, a desire to bestow. The connection between us and between us and the Creator will be a real connection and by this we will attain Lishma; in other words revealing the Creator. That He surrounds everything and governs everything and everyone is in Him and are dependent on Him. For this reason the order of the work begins in Lo Lishma and when we discover how much we are in Lo Lishma then we begin to be perplexed or bewildered and we feel powerless to change our fate where we do and change. And here is the question, by what can we come to a new state? Gradually through connection to the tens, through prayer where each one is concerned with what his heart demands and what his friends demand we become as one man with one heart. And we have to be certain that the ten is in one heart, in one mind, one intention, one goal, that the ten are truly as one. Rabash writes a lot about it. Then this way we do attain our unity and from our unity as much as we are yearn, to the extent we yearn for it we can unite the image of the Creator and organize it in such a way so that in all the states He will be the one who governs, surrounds and organizes and that there’s None Else Besides Him in the end.
3. S. (12:02) How through adhesion in our connection to the friends do we reach a feeling as you said, to feel that we’re in the world of the Creator?
R. We can feel that we are in the world of the Creator if all of us in the ten crave through our common effort to show this to each other. That we are connected together and in our connection we want to build such a desire where we discover the Creator. That He is one for all of us, controlling all of us and we are all connecting in order to reveal Him. In other words, here we have group work. This is basically all our effort at least in the beginning that we have to do, to be as one man with one heart in one system helping one another. Everything that the Kabbalists write for us we must, must do.
S. When I try to bestow to the friends I feel them. When will I understand in some moment that this brings me closer to the Creator?
R. When I connect to the friends by this I am trying to come out of myself and be incorporated in them. Then within the incorporation in them I begin to feel the root of the connection of the ten which is the Creator.
4. S. (14:53) It’s felt that every friend in the ten and society altogether is yearning for revelation of the Creator but where is our mutual effort? Where is that common point where we connect into one longing towards Him?
R. Our common effort cannot be before we feel that without complete corporation and sharing we cannot reveal the Creator. The Creator is revealed as a result of our efforts, our common effort where we help each other, where all of us are concerned about everybody else. In this way we build a place, a deficiency for the one force to be revealed and to tie us all together.
S. How from a personal effort do we come to a common effort?
R. Just as we learn that it’s impossible that a system of ten Sefirot will feel from each Sefira something else without the work of the other Sefirot so likewise that’s what we should be like in the group. That I cannot discover the force that operates on the group as one. The Creator doesn’t operate on each one individually, He operates on all of us together and wants us to approach Him together. This is how we have to feel ourselves.
5. S. (17:09) The true connection is only the one desire that has intention to bestow to the Creator?
R. What is one desire? A common desire.
S. How do we advance to that intention? Is that an effort in our thoughts?
R. It is in the heart and in the mind, in the thought where we help each other. I feel in my thoughts that I am not connected to the others; I feel it in my heart that I am not connected to the others and I try as much as possible, correctly or incorrectly, the effort is what matters. I want to be together with everyone. We need to be closer as one man with one heart, closer to each other until we feel that we really are as one man who has a mind and a heart that is as one for everyone. And by this each of us cancels his personal love and we begin to discover in our common force, we begin to reveal the Creator, that He is one for everyone.
6. S. (19:07) In the beginning of the lesson I heard you say that we should position ourselves so there are no disturbances as much as possible between us and the Creator. What does that mean?
R. We want to come to an understanding and feeling that only the Creator surrounds us, fills us and only He is the one who performs all the upper operations on us.
S. What does it mean that there is no disturbance between us and Him?
R. That no feeling or thought, what is called foreign feeling or thought that will appear so we will understand everything and feel everything as coming only from him only from the Creator. There is no one else there who disrupts, there is None Else Besides Him.
7. S. (20:24) How do you exit the state that the Creator is in control of everything and man is like Pharaoh that wants the Creator to serve him and everything around him?
R. These are two forms of nature, the will to receive and the will to bestow, love from the Creator and hate from a person. This is how the Creator created man, so he would be initially something separate in creation and then through efforts he will revoke his ego and will adhere to the Creator and they will be as one.
S. But what is the exact work, the point I have to press on so it will be an inversion point from Pharaoh to the Creator? That He will be in control, not that the Creator is serving me that I’ll serve the Creator. So what’s that inversion point?
R. That’s exactly the point of transitioning from in order to receive to in order to bestow.
S. So it comes only with the light that reforms through prayer because the light in it reforms?
R. Yes.
S. So except for that there is nothing else? Is there an addition to this formula?
R. No, this is all we need.
8. S. (22:14) I heard that a stage comes at the beginning of the path that someone thinks that he’ll do more actions, more connection, more prayer, that he’ll advance from that. Then he reaches a state that he understands that he needs more forces to be helped. At that point when he understands that his actions aren’t beneficial for him, what gives him the fuel to keep going?
R. First of all the actions help because through them he understands that there is None Else Besides Him. The upper force is surrounding him and takes him through all the states and therefore he has nothing else to do other than learn how to bow before it and accept its governance, its control and that’s how he advances.
S. I don’t understand. When a person doesn’t have this additional force yet and he understands and feels that his actions aren’t helping him advance towards the goal meaning there are no forces to come to the goal so how does he have motivation to keep doing these actions?
R. This is true that there is a situation where a person sees that with his own strength he cannot achieve the goal but when he at the same time performs actions then he also begins to understand that there is no choice. He has to be even in Lo Lishma as much as he can; he must advance because he has nothing else to do in this life other than to take another step and another step toward the Creator. And then in every situation, in every place, in every desire and form that he is in he nevertheless tries to go forward, and this is our work.
What the mind doesn’t do, time does. We can’t with our own intellect justify ourselves or the Creator, rather we have to keep going. And here we begin to see that really in our toolbox there is nothing left other than the connection between us and the connection between us, this is what brings us the ability to truly advance. It is a very essential and not a simple transition because by this we truly change our direction, our intention, the purpose of our connection, the purpose of our lives. So the main thing for us becomes to be as one man with one heart, how to be in one heart, all of us we don’t know. How do we come into being as one person instead of a ten? We also don’t know but then we have what to ask for, we have what to ask. Then our prayers move to the next stage where we indeed ask the Creator to organize us in a new system so we will feel ourselves as connected together that we are one system in creation and we belong to Him, are dependent on Him. Here is a big change when we begin to see ourselves as a group.
9. S. (27:45) Rabash writes here that the light that reforms, that’s what works on us. How exactly does the light that reforms work, how does it do it?
R. It comes from one source which is the Creator and therefore in its nature it connects all the contradictory things, it brings them together and this is what it does to us. It’s simply its nature, there is nothing else to say. Afterwards we’ll understand and feel how it happens, attaining the connection between the desires, contradictory desires, different desires, attaining that connection, this is called the work of the Creator because it’s the Creator who does it and we only somehow belong to it.
10. S. (29:09) It’s written that when we start keeping the Torah and Mitzvot we have to believe even through Lo Lishma. What does it mean to work with faith in Lo Lishma?
R. That I believe as much as I can bring a deeper interpretation into this word ‘believe,’ so I believe that each and every operation of mine that has to do with connection in the group brings me closer to the Creator, that’s it. I’m still not in the intention to bestow, I’m not in any spiritual attainment yet but I hope that this is what should happen, that this is what will help me.
11. S. (30:10) What is faith in Lo Lishma and what’s the difference between faith in Lishma?
R. Lo Lishma, not for her sake is not for the sake of the Creator, not for the sake of heaven and Lishma, for her sake is completely disconnected from the person, from the person’s will to receive and it is entirely directed toward the Creator.
12. S. (30:45) You said that when we discover that we’re in Lo Lishma we start feeling embarrassed and we can’t change our destiny as much as we try. According to what you explained, can we change our destiny only in the work of Lishma? Can you explain that?
R. I don’t really understand the question but of course our whole purpose is to come from Lo Lishma to Lishma. Meaning for everything to be as clean as possible including the intention bestow. We’re not for ourselves, where we want to come out to the other nature and not to remain in the black central point which is our will to receive. This is our goal, to receive the nature of the Creator, to adhere to Him according to the equivalence of form and in this way continue.
13. S. (32:07) Can my annulment cause a deficiency in a friend?
R. My annulment can cause a deficiency to a friend? What is this about? As an example, by doing it? We are in one system, each one who makes any inner movement, it operates and influences everyone. So what does he mean? Of course if we are in a group that is somehow connected among its friends it turns out that even a tiny change in someone affects everyone, operates on everyone but we are unaware of it, we don’t feel it. This is what happens to us but if we want to be in connection, if we want to bestow upon each other all the forces of bestowal, connection, the good forces that we have in us to give to everyone, then in the end we connect these forces and through them we rise above our nature.
14. S. (33:59) What is this action that a person receives the Torah and implements it?
R. A person receiving the Torah means he’s accepting the Creator as the source of light, the source of bestowal and love. And he wants to attain this force of bestowal and love, be incorporated in it and that only this will guide him and direct him.
15. S. (34:53) You said that the Creator isn’t working individually on each one separately but on all of us together. I’m trying to understand what that means even in one ten. Let’s say there is a friend with a huge deficiency and another one that has only a small deficiency. How does the Creator work on such a ten?
R. Why does it matter to you? What is the source of the question itself? How the Creator operates. He operates in all kinds of ways to bring us closer to connection between us so we begin to feel the common force of bestowal that operates between us. I don’t think that we should even ask such questions, how does the Creator operate. He operates. We should be asking what about us? The Creator always operates for connection between us so that in the end we return to the same form as in Adam HaRishon.
S. He is also saying that a friend doesn’t have the forces to even work in Lo Lishma or engage in the Torah. If we could count on the friends in the ten that do have the forces, that they can ascribe this state to the state he’s in..
R. Yes he can think this way, that if he’s in such a lowly state that’s the meaning of the ten. That they help each other, that each one can help the other and in this way in the end all of us are saved.
16. S. (37:09) In our work he writes about states of reward and punishment, revealed or covered. What is the reward and what is the punishment in our work?
R. What is the reward and what is the punishment? It depends on what a person depicts to himself as reward and punishment, either in order to receive or in order to bestow, what states. It depends on the person.
S. We’re constantly in this tendency of spiritual development. We bump into all kinds of states, sometimes we argue between us. Is that also a way to measure reward or punishment in our inner feelings? Are there states where we separate or do we see it as another state that the Creator put before us and accept it as a gift?
R. Yes. The main thing is that we need to see what is written for us and this will direct us accurately toward connection between us. To the extent that the connection between us becomes more and more from the depth of our hearts and to the extent that it is in order to resemble the Creator from the connection in its power and form of connection, this is really our advancement, our progress.
S. So as much as this state is more complex, if we accept it like that, that’s the way to accept it as a gift from the Creator?
R. It may be a gift but we shouldn’t see it as complicated and complex, it should all be pretty simple. We need to be close to one another without any clothing, any covers which actually are the ones that complicate us. If we want to be together then there’s no problem that should disrupt us, no such thing.
S. We just need to do a simple connection?
R. The more simple the connection is, as one man with one heart it is easier, more correct and closer to the goal.
Reading 7. Twice (40:49) “Sometimes I the Lord who dwells with them…”
17. S. (43:30) The friends asked it but I’m trying to phrase it again; how can we add in the light that reforms? Is there something extra in the efforts in the ten?
R. Connection in the group, I do not see any more powerful means, the connection in the group, what it is called the prayer of many and that’s it.
S. That’s what we are doing, so we’re doing the maximum?
R. So just strengthen it to the maximum, yes, in this we can always add.
18. S. (44:30) How will I know that I really came to Lo Lishma and how can I cause this mechanical mechanism of the ego and the will to receive work for the Creator?
R. That’s according to your feeling, no one can tell you, you cannot read it anywhere, but only according to the feeling of your heart can you detect and identify your spiritual state, if it is in order to receive or is it already in Lo Lishma which is already different from in order to receive and then Lishma, there are many degrees and states in it but this is already each person’s personal matter.
19. S. (45:48) What does it mean that the Creator is with them in their impurity?
R. That even their thoughts and desires are in order to receive but the Creator nevertheless does not leave them; He is with them, in them, but they have to correct their intentions. They still have the force within them with which they can correct themselves from in order to receive, to in order to give.
20. S. (46:58) You stated that the Creator is revealed as a result of our mutual efforts in the ten, so the question: is there a state that in the group two or three or part of the group reach full connection between them, so what is the difference between the state and a state of revealing the Creator completely, is there a difference?
R. Of course there is a difference between every situation, we still can’t talk about this because we don’t have such states in our attainments.
S. In what way does it obligate a friend in the group to reach the perfect state through the work?
R. We influence each other so we need to see how we can influence each other in the most effective way.
21. S. (48:19) When does the work in Lo Lishma begin?
R. The work in Lo Lishma begins pretty quickly, if a person is in the group and he listens to what he should do, that we have to attain the Creator through the connection in the group, then perhaps from this state onward the work in Lo Lishma already begins.
22. S. (49:10) It’s written that sometimes I load with them in their impurity, what does it mean sometimes?
R. Sometimes, not always. It all speaks from the perspective of the person, so a person attains that although he is in all kinds of states they are not good, not permanent, the Creator is nevertheless with him.
S. We’ve learned that everything comes from None Else Besides Him, so even the state of Lo Lishma comes from Him. That’s for us to ascend gradually and not burn out if we do it at once. Why is it like that?
R. I do not understand the question.
S. We learned that everything comes from the Creator, so also the state of Lo Lishma came from Him, so is that in order for us to rise gradually and not burn out if we do it at once, what is the reason that it is built in such a way?
R. Who told you that we might be burnt if we rise quickly, where did you read this?
S. I’m asking, why is there such an intermediate state of Lo Lishma before the state of Lishma?
R. The state of Lo Lishma is a state of work, when we see that we are still in the intention to receive, so how can we change ourselves so our intentions would be in order to bestow?
23. S. (51:22) We can feel that we have no control over anything and that brings us to a feeling that There’s None Else Besides Him. How can we attain that prayer from the bottom of the heart in order to surrender to this force, to this single force?
R. It is through mutual help between the friends, where each one shows to the others how much he exerts, he makes efforts to connect with others and to yearn for the revelation of the Creator in order to bring Him contentment and only from this; this is our help to each other.
24. S. (52:26) How can we in every moment choose the right action that will bring us closer to the Creator, how not to make a mistake and do what He wants?
R. Only by scrutinizing in the group as a result of the ten, if I know how to elicit from the ten a common desire, a common prayer, good relationships with each other then it is certain that I’m advancing toward the right goal because it too is attained in the correct connection between us. It is not like we are in the dark, we are not in the dark, we have precisely those points that if we do them, don’t run away from them but we do them, one at a time, then we are on a clear path toward the goal.
S. Outside of the ten, in my choices there is no ability to choose the right actions, to be on the right path? How does a person know when he’s outside of the ten, how to choose things correctly that will lead him to the Creator? When I find myself in confusion on personal choices that have nothing to do with the group, how can I choose what the Creator wants?
R. How can you choose anything if you are not in the group and you choose not from within the connection, how can that be? Of course it will lead you to a mistake for sure. If you want to know where your mistake is then decide alone without connecting to the friends and being incorporated in them, bowing before them, and then you are certain to make mistakes. This is one opposite the other. We can perform actions that are completely opposite from the Creator clearly because if I don’t connect to the friends, if I don’t choose the connection with them, if I don’t walk toward them closer, to come to a growing adhesion, then it is certain that I am going wrong, making a mistake just by cutting it this way just by deciding this way, this is why we can check ourselves every moment of our lives.
25. S. (56:16) Before we said that every inner change and emotion affects the whole system, the whole group, if I see day after day that I do not see changes in the friends, how can I be more sensitive, they seem the same to me?
R. All you need to understand is that it depends on you, so what do you do?
S. I don’t know what my options really are, I come every morning, I go to every meeting, I connect, I see them more or less the same, maybe small changes, unless some friend has a problem or something very clear, so day after day they seem the same.
R. Internal or external changes?
S. External.
R. External doesn’t count. I need to feel from them internal changes and then I’ll ask myself and what about me, and in this way I too will change, otherwise what’s the point.
S. I agree that, what’s the point if there are no changes. But how can I see an inner change in a friend, his character doesn’t change?
R. How do you know?
S. We also talk about a person’s personality. We don’t expect it to change, qualities don’t change. The externalities don’t change, I’m in a ten, so everybody comes to all the lessons or the meetings. They’re very organized, that doesn’t change, so what is changing?
R. They probably don’t want to open themselves up to you, and each of them comes with this shield that says to everyone: “everything is fine,” but is it fine? I have to be responsible for awakening the friends’ hearts to advancement, am I doing this or not? Even if I have nothing new, I have to express myself toward them as a new me, that I have a new desire, a new intention, another drive and vice versa, we must not seem to each other like wolves, on the contrary, we should help each other.
S. Sometimes there is a feeling that there is that friend in the group that is very heartfelt and open and the friend that is a bit more closed according to his personality. So within the ten I have a pattern of a friend and it doesn’t search for any innovations, it wants its routine, the norm?
R. I understand you want to relax.
S. I feel that it is an internal mechanism that doesn’t let me break out of the routine?
R. Correct.
S. So I don’t know what to do even though I heard your advice and I will try to do something a bit different. I’ll try to find something, a strong text for the friends, to prepare something, so okay, I did it, so in the next day somebody else will do it?
R. No, it’s not okay that you did it, if you did it, you did it, it’s already an action, it’s already an advancement, you’ve already taken something from one side and shifted it to the other side, this is already work. We shouldn’t slide it, every moment when I have to shift from a friend to the center of the society, from someone, it is spiritual work, this is how we scrutinize things.
S. I’ll try to do that but again if you could repeat: how do I work with a friend that I feel that he closed himself towards me, that every day I see the same, how do I renew the inner connection with him?
R. Try first of all to turn to the Creator and ask Him to help you; help you open the friend, the heart of this friend who is closed, try to approach other friends, soften the heart this is what you need, soften the heart. It is not like the heart of the friend is closed, perhaps it is your heart that is not open enough, so try to open it and then you’ll begin to feel how it softens and how you can really come closer to him and even though he’s hard, as Rabash writes: it’s like a “stony heart”, it is written there how you enter your friend’s heart by over and over and over again. This is how the heart’s connect.
S. If I feel with the plea to the Creator, the Creator is also closing Himself towards me?
R. Well of course it happens, unconditionally that you understand that He demands work from you. It is like whatever you learn you get more and more difficult exercises every time so you grow and here too, it is the same. You can’t remain in the same class all the time. That’s it. Understand that it’s for your sake and you have to be more connected to the friends and ask from the Creator more and this is how you will advance.
S. That letter he speaks about softening the hearts with the gifts if I’m not mistaken?
R. With gifts, yes.
S. The gift to the friend is like giving a gift to the Creator?
R. Well that’s different, gifts to a friend is if I open for him an ability to connect with the ten and gifts to the Creator is when we already come to him as a ten and ask Him to be revealed between us; in us.
26. S. (01:05:31) According to the excerpt: “He dwells with them, in the impurity”, so that’s a state that there’s a vessel and it’s not in equivalence of form right? So what’s the difference between a vessel that isn’t in equivalence of form and one that is?
R. A deficiency that for the time being he cannot realize. This is called not being in equivalence of form with Him and the opposite, is the opposite.
S. So the vessel that is in equivalence, it has a deficiency that can be implemented?
R. A deficiency you can realize or it is realized or you can’t realize it.
S. And where does it happen in the ten?
R. Within the vessel itself we have nothing besides the vessel. Other than a desire we have nothing.
S. Where is the desire he feels, where’s the realization? According to what I understand from the excerpt it’s all about the feeling, what is revealed or isn’t revealed in the work between us.
R. I didn’t understand.
S. Where is it implemented between us?
R. Desire for connection?
S. Yes, equivalence of form.
R. The desire for connection is revealed within the desire or between the two desires in the ten for example. To the extent that they realize this desire correctly the upper light fills them and this way there is a connection between the Creator and the created beings.
S. So how do we reach a state where this desire is revealed like above the surface? That all friends in the ten feel this common deficiency and..?
R. All the friends in the ten feel that, it’s not simple, it’s not immediate and not soon but we have to yearn for it in words. We may be feeling that we’re getting closer but to come to one desire and to feel that we’re connecting the desires into one desire and then the Creator is revealed in this desire that we attained as one, this is work.
S. What is the first step we can take in our work to such a direction?
R. The first step is when I think only about connection in the ten, nothing more than that. For all of us to connect in the ten and for all of us to feel that we’re in one vessel and we want that vessel to be filled with the greatness of the Creator, with connection between us. Then in this way we will advance toward the general correction.
27. S. (01:09:39) We can imagine a state of Lo Lishma and demand from the Creator for the friends. So what is the matter of the prayer in Lo Lishma?
R. The prayer Lishma is aimed entirely toward the Creator, toward in order to bestow upon the Creator and through Him to all of the created beings. The Creator Himself has no will to receive and therefore I have no one to turn to that I want to bestow and fill, He only receives an impression of my relation toward the created beings. Therefore, if I want to do good to the Creator I have to see how I can do good toward the created beings, how I relate to all the people in love and connection because all of the people, all of creations are actually His and in this way I come to the love of the Creator.
28. S. (01:11:18) I also wrote down that we’re in one system and every smallest inner action affects everybody. Where does that become against nature? At what point is that something that is opposite of our nature?
R. I didn’t understand what you said.
S. In this process we start understanding that every small interaction affects everybody. So it works great with the ego, with nature, it’s even nice. I’ll ask for the ten, something good will happen to them, I’ll take responsibility for that, it works very well with nature. When does it become against nature?
R. When I understand that I cannot think for them, when I cannot think for someone else. That all my intentions are in order to receive for someone else, meaning for the sake of someone else. That all of my intentions are to satisfy myself.
S. That’s clear, so I want to do something for the benefit of the ten. I’m asking for the ten, I do all kinds of things and I even maybe see results from this, sometimes I don’t, sometimes I do. It works out so where is that defeating the body and fighting it and everything about that? The question isn’t clear?
R. No. I always have to check, am I working through connection, that’s it, that’s the main thing. If I can take my thoughts and intentions and desires through the ten then it is certain that by this I am relating to the Creator because the ten and the Creator are the same.
S. And then when does it become something that is impossible and you need the help of the Creator for it to happen?
R. When a person sees that he is not succeeding, that he cannot connect all of the friends in his heart and bestow upon them. And the more he advances the more he sees how far he is from it so it turns out that he has no choice but to cry, and ask.
Reading Excerpt #8 twice (01:14:52)
29. S. (01:19:12) What is the action that is called faith? Why is it called an action?
R. Because I am the result of the faith and I awakened within myself the light of mercy, the light of Hassadim in which I attain something of the Creator.
S. And this is still in Lo Lishma?
R. It’s already Lishma.
30. S. (01:19:54) It comes from the excerpt that we can increase the Lo Lishma and not even touch Lishma. Why should we pay attention in order to ensure that we are aimed at Lishma because it is said that he increases his pleasure as he works in Lo Lishma because he has greater pleasure there?
R. Let’s move on some more and then we’ll progress to that.
31. S. (01:20:35) So the question that I’m sure has thousands of times been asked and hopefully with a thousand and one we’ll be able to internalize it: why does the Creator show me that a friend has a descent? What does He expect me to do?
R. That you will connect to his vessel and that it will help you and Him and your friend in your connection to rise together, meaning to correct the state.
S. I try and I feel a lack of success and for a period of time I see friends receiving this heaviness and I don’t know what to do. I understand that I don’t know how to pray correctly, how to turn correctly, with what intention to come to the Creator. What to tell Him on this? What do I need to do in order for it to be received in him?
R. Pray for your friend. As much as you understand him, pray for him, ask. Turn to the Creator so that He helps him.
S. When I do it I guess I cancel the action that the Creator does but I need to take it into account what He made, this heaviness as if it’s good or in some way I have to relate to it. I can’t just ignore that He did it and then ask Him to change, otherwise I don’t know what the Creator is asking of me?
R. He requests from you that you will prefer the friend’s desire and the Creator’s desire, to correct the friend through you and that you ask for that.
S. Through you? What do I need to sacrifice of myself, to pass of myself?
R. That you’re ready to be the conduit.
32. S. (01:23:15) Faith is called Lo Lishma?
R. Faith is called Lo Lishma.
S. So what is Lishma?
R. Lishma is that you already work in order to bestow.
