Part 2

Baal HaSulam. Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah. #4

1. R. (00:19) Okay we spoke about how the light constructs the vessel the Kli and how it transitions from the first discernment, to the second, to the third, to the 4th discernments and in that he constructs the world Atzilut, Briya, Yetzirah, Assiya.

Reading Item #4 (00:54) “The reason why the will to receive must cascade…”

2. R. (03:59) I think we should read it again, from one time we can not grasp it. We know we learned what the Kabbalists tell us that the light comes from the Creator, from the desire to bestow and descends, descends comes down until it comes to us, descends to us. This descending goes through the four worlds Atzilut, Briya, Yetzirah, Assiya, (ABYA), and all of this process of the expansion of the light includes also it’s expansion and departures, expansion and departure, there is a matter of entrance and exit, entrance and exit in all of the discernments that the light fills within the vessel and then what he says…

Reading Item #4 (05:22) “The reason why the will to receive must cascade…”

3. R. (06:51) Meaning in the lights has to expand within the vessel and the desire and then depart from the desire, and apparently it lives within the desire such Reshimot of itself that the desire then becomes already worth. Meaning it in the lights departure he formats the desire to become worthy for the reception of the light.

Reader continues (06:31) “This means that as long as the vessel ….”

4. R. (06:49) Meaning we don’t feel where the light is and where the vessel is, they’re mixed in such a way that you cannot discern between them.

Reader continues (07:00) “This annulment is because they’re completely opposite from one another…”

5. R. (07:33) This is an essence of light only to bestow, only to give, only to fill to do according to the desire that is in touch to be attached to.

Reader continues: (07:56) “It’s opposite is the vessel…”

6. S. (09:30) What does it mean what it says here in the first sentence that expansion of the light and its departure makes the vessel and it happens before the vessel is ready, how can the vessel and the lights enter and exit?

R. There is a will to receive that the Creator has created and the light enters the will to receive if the will to receive changes. Then the light fills the new will to receive according to its new desire, meaning that the vessel has become fit for the reception of the light and it can already determine what light can fill it.

S. Meaning there’s will to receive but it’s not yet called the vessel?

R. Yes. There’s the will to receive but it’s a general will to receive there is no discernment yet. However, after the light fills the vessel and makes certain all sorts of actions out of it, the vessel, the desire becomes more like the light and can already determine which light can fill it in quantity and quality.

7. S. (11:10) What makes the vessel crave the light, it has a craving of the light after the light leaves it?

R. The light that fills the vessel gives a vessel fulfillment, filling, a sense of calmness, a sense of wholeness and when it departs the vessel and feels what he had as opposed to what he has now where he is empty of the light. He is yearning back for the light and aims to bring it back. This yearning is in essence the deficiency that the light reveals.. It is like us, you also taste something you don’t even have a need for but when you taste it you see how delicious it is and you taste how delicious it is and then you begin to yearn for yourself for the same flavor and this means that now you have a desire on your own.

S. What the problem is, that we have no idea how to get this light back And that’s what the whole study of Kabbalah is?

R. Correct, so be patient.

8. S. (12:55) I just want to ask about the reception of the light because my desire may be mine or it might be a desire that is related to the group. When I see the group I can also say this is my desire right? How can I accept the light?

R. We do not talk about the light that you can receive through the group or alone from the Creator. We will get to the conditions and how we need to arrange ourselves in order for the light to be drawn to us and fill us. This isn’t simple.

S. Why do we need it at all? Why do we need them?

R. Who?

S. Why do we need the group if I can draw the light?

R. you need to learn how to attract and how to draw the light from the group. What do you need from one phrase or from one sentence you already grab something?

S. No, I’m asking about the group being there for me to draw the light for it? In the group I discovered the light or do I discover the light personally?

R. We discovered the light within the Ten, and the light that enters the group is then divided into all sorts of parts according to the Ten Sefirot and then we can begin to feel and sense it and  work with it  but not beforehand. Soon we will get into that. We will get into that we haven’t talked about it yet.

9. S. (15:07) Is there a relationship between craving in the light and the Reshimot?

R. I don’t know what it’s like what is light, what is Reshimot, what is yearning, why do you take words that we have not studied yet, wait.

10. S. (15:38) He says that “after the light departs from it, it starts yearning for it, this yearning determines the shape of the will to receive”. The question is what causes the light to depart, for instance in our ten, so we can reach yearning?

R. The light enters a ten, if a ten cannot contain it according to the equivalence of form with it in order to bestow, then the light departs. And then the vessel, the desire to receive begins to yearn after the light, yearn for the light that filled it, gave it all the fulfillment and pleasures. And this yearning, it now determines the vessel meaning expansion of the light within the desire and the departure of the delight from the desire, it builds in the desire such impressions, such Reshimot that they specifically are called these Reshimot are called a Kli, a vessel.

I tasted something very delicious and now I discovered that it was in me and it departed, disappeared, what do I do? So, it is said that the very flavor that you received and the flavor that you felt after you lost the flavor, when it departed from you, these two Reshimo that are written on you desire now will aim you, will direct you towards the correct work, towards the correct action. That the fulfillment and the deficiency of the fulfillment that you had before will work together and aim you towards you your name correctly in a whole and complete way for the complete fulfillment.

S. Yes but what causes the light to depart, must the light depart anyhow by our actions?

R. Yes, it’s a must for the light to depart because it does not find a vessels that resembles it, that can live within it.

S. Meaning is a part of the process, it is a must?

R. Yes

11. S. (18:46) In the first fulfillment of the Kli, of the vessel, is there no determine where the light came from?

R. No of course not, whatever the light came from that’s something the vessel doesn’t feel as well, for that you should have preparation within the vessel with the origin of the light and before the light came into the vessel, this is Reshimot in the vessel is not there. So in short, there’s a problem here: the vessel needs to be filled with light and to feel where the light comes from as opposed to that, it should feel what the desire of the vessel is, to receive and to enjoy, to what extent it’s desire is the opposite of the desire of Emanator to give and give pleasure. And out of the vessel feeling it’s opposite from the light it feels itself lesser, contemptible compared to the light and then it departs from this receiving the light, it departs from receiving the light. And so the light departs and the vessel remains empty but in between, what is left in the vessel is Reshimot, recollections, records from the lights and in the light there are records of the vessel, soon we will go back to that.

12. S. (20:54) If the Creator created one single creature why do this desire have to take certain forms until they reach final Correction?

R. It is not so clear to me, the created being is the desire however the desire is raw; now when the light expands into the desire, it builds in the desire all kinds of pieces that fill the light in different forms. In the desire as it receives the pleasure all kind of discernments are made in it one, two, three, four, five. When is the beginning it feels only that some fulfillment comes to it but it didn’t yet understand it anything. Later it started to understand, this is tasty, this is pleasant, that’s the second discernment. The third discernment is when it feels is it really what he expected, isn’t is? The fourth discernment is when it feels completely fulfills him all the way, and the fifth determine is that it doesn’t want or it does want to receive this pleasure once it discovered, got to know it with it’s complete form. Meaning the will to receive itself by receiving the pleasure there are all kind of steps of recognizing the pleasure. Usually we say is five different stages, five parts, and this is what happens to it, that’s it. And then we will learn later it decides that doesn’t want to receive the pleasure as it came to him, in the form it came because it separates it, it severs it from the Giver because he is the receiver and before him there is the Giver and as it decides that it’s separate from reception in order to not to be separate from the Giver, it turns out that it’s separate, what can I do? And then I light departs it and the desires remains empty and that’s the second state. Meaning the first state it was when it was filled with pleasure and later he decided that it doesn’t want to receive the pleasure because it distances it from the Creator and the light departs it and now it decides that it does want to receive the pleasure that comes from the Creator but in a way that it doesn’t annul, doesn’t cancel itself towards the pleasure meaning gradually receiving it guarding in the right kind of tasting. And then the light enters and fills it in a gradual way, and then we call the reception of this fulfillment in the will to receive, ‘reception in the worlds, from the word ‘concealment’, Olama, meaning it’s a calculation that there are five worlds here: Adam Kadmon, Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, Assiya, and in each and every world there is a feeling of the will to receive and the fulfillment in a completely special way compared to other places.

13. S. (26:07) When we reach an appeal that is strong enough to justify the friend, it seems that there is a perfect mercy that rules everything and then it leaves. Is this revealing mercy, that we need it to equalize our form and is it really possible to achieve that perfection?

R. We will see that later, it’s a bit too early to for that.

14. S. (26:57) According with what did we study, the real work, the real deficiency is felt only after we felt the light in the ten, in this feeling and then the light leaves or departs from the ten and then we feel the deficiency or a yearning for the right deficiency. Does it mean that this is the sensation of each friend from the inclusion of the ten or of the whole ten?

R. That’s for each and every friend, in the meantime I don’t want to talk this way because we’ll confuse our work and what we learn here which is completely different places, so, don’t confuse other people.

15. S. (27:57) What is the main form or the principle of the expansion of the light and is departure on all of the degrees?

R. It is expansion of the light and its departure according to the degrees of the will to receive that lie within the general desire.

S. The desires is what comes out and gives the form to the vessels?

R. Yes the Reshimot, the records are basically what formats are vessels.

16. S. (29:08) First when the light comes, it comes with the desire of the will of the Creator and then when the light disappears, it also happens with the will of the Creator. But when the vessel wants to receive it’s also the will of the Creator.

R. Yes but we haven’t learned this yet, I don’t want to talk about that yet, we haven’t learned it; why don’t you listen what I’m telling you, is the main thing to ask?

Reading Item #5 “Hence, the four phases in the name HaVaYaH, called HochmaBinaTifferetMalchut, are required…”

17. S. (36:09) The action the light does in the Kli and the Reshimot it leaves, does it relate to the same records that we ourselves are not able to disconnect from?

R. No, no, no, we’re talking about something different, it’s not yet us and it’s far from our desires and qualities, no, no, no.

S. What does it mean that the discern of Tiferet in the light of Hassadim?

R. That’s also we haven’t learned yet, hold on, what will happen to others when I answered you?

18. S. (37:26) I heard that disconnecting from the ego in order to not be disconnected to the Creator and my identification is in my ego, so if I disconnect from my ego so that I’m not disconnect from the Creator, what do I begin to identify myself with, how do I feel myself?

R. You will feel yourself attached to the Creator.

19. S. (38:11) How can a person receive the force of bestowal from below upwards?

R. I didn’t get it, how can a person receive the force of bestowal from below upwards?

S. From what we read right now?

R. Where from below does he receive, where from below does he receive?

S. We uplift in order to receive it, we’re rising, ascending towards that to resemble the Creator and it says here that a person has to resemble the Creator?

R. Yes for that it needs to resemble the Creator but he receives the force of bestowal from above, from the Creator, everything comes from the Creator.

20. S. (39:20) The purpose of a person is to receive the flavor of the light once more, does this manner harm one’s work or the ten?

R. Nothing harms, everything is done according to the plan, don’t worry.

21. S. (39:45) Where the light formats the Kli according to desire, the desire becomes the vessel, what is the active action or the practical action of the person to fix, to correct his intention?

R. Yes exactly, that’s correct.

Item #6 “These four above discernments are the ten Sefirot discerned in each emanated being and each created …”

22. S. (43:18) What is the role of the vessel?

R. The role of the vessel is to attach the light, to attach to the light.

S. What is the form of the will to receive?

R. The form of the will to receive is the size and the manner of the will to receive.

23. S. (44:00) He writes: Until the Neshama form can not distinguish it from Atzumto, until it is worthy to be called its own name. So Neshama is a Kli formation?

R. Yes the soul is the Kli the will to receive that received a form of bestowal and that’s why it can also be felt by the upper light and to shine to a certain extent.

S. And then as if it is separated from the soul?

R. Of course it’s separated because there’s a desire in it and its will to receive separates it from the Creator.

S. Meaning it is separated until it’s worthy to be called..?

R. It means that until it receives such a will to bestow and it can have its name with respect to the Creator.

S. Meaning in some way becomes independent?

R. Yes.

24. S. (45:20) When the light finds a vessel that fits it, that resembles it can it remain there forever and what do we need to do for it to be so?

R. The light cannot stay in the vessel forever, it all depends on the vessel. To the extent that the vessel contains the light it can stay in the vessel.

25. S. (45:59) Could you tell us more about that phenomenon on the 5th item on the third stage? The third phase appears as the light diminishes to the size of the light of Hassadim but without Hochma. And the light of Hochma is the main life force. Then Hassadim has been awakened and drew a certain measure of Hochma. What happened there?

R. We’ll learn this, we can’t answer about these two words written here. Wait and we we’ll learn it.

S. In the fourth phase it also attracted the light of Hochma but it’s more than the third stage. Meaning the third stage is just enough to sustain life and the fourth he wants to be completely annulled to it as in the first stage.

R. Yes.

26. S. (47:13) In the first stage the desire is adhered to Atzmuto, to His essence. Can you say that the desire is equal to the light?

R. When the vessel is filled the desire always has to equalize itself to the light, to the abundance, yes.

S. Is there a state later as the desire descends according to the four stages? How does it fill everything in order to be equal again?

R. No no no, it doesn’t work this way. The desire is filled by the light to the extent of its desire.

S. But sometime will I attain such a desire that will equalize to the light that the Creator gives?

R. Of course. This is what we call the end of correction, it’s the degree called Ein SofEin Sof means there is no limit.

S. Meaning factually we will be raised back to that initial state when we were adhered?

R. No and there is no reason to jump.

27. S. (48:45) In the topic of the creation of the Kli and the cooperation between the light and the vessel what communication channels are between the light and the vessel that can cause it to annul or to not receive? What attributes it to the vessel that it’s just a material?

R. It’s not just material it’s the restriction, the screen and the reflected light that the vessel starts determining for the light its ways of expansion in the vessel. With this we should end.
