Part 2
Zohar for All. “Introduction of The Book of Zohar”. The Fifth Commandment.
Reading 5th commandment #215
1. S. (10:11) What is that interesting gradation of commandments, the first one to engage in the Torah, the second one cutting and exposing and then the circumcision after 8 days?
R. Corrections we have to make on our will to receive, only on the will to receive because we have nothing else to do. So these corrections will help our desires connect, reconnect after the breaking of the vessels, after the sin of the tree of knowledge so we can unite between us into one desire but already corrected. So we do all these actions, we couldn’t do them, we weren’t born like that, but now that we are already through attaining of the sin now we can correct ourselves and connect ourselves correctly and then it will be the end of correction.
S. It’s interesting that to engage in the Torah is in first place.
R. Of course because without drawing the light from above how will you see what to correct?
S. But how come circumcision is at the end, it should be at the beginning of the person’s life?
R. It doesn’t matter, it’s not a matter of beginning of life or end of life, it’s the operations a person has to do in order to come to correcting his place where he makes contact with others. This is called circumcising his heart, his desires.
S. And to engage in cutting and exposing, what are we doing with that actually?
R. By correcting our desires our desires become able to connect among them in all kinds of ways of connection and this is called multiplying, reproduction.
Reading Item #216 (12:56)
2. S. (16:18) He writes that the first four commandments correct the world of Atzilut. The question is why when ZON raises MAN they correct the world of Atzilut and not only themselves?
R. That’s what he writes first of all, that’s number one. Number two it’s not according to the order that you would say or perhaps ask. So when we correct, we start correcting from the nearest degree and then higher and higher up. Here it’s already the world of Atzilut immediately, right? We’ll see.
S. I also have the impression that everything is corrected, the world of Atzilut is corrected and only ZON needs to correct itself? Is that correct?
R. It’s correct but Atzilut has to corrected by demanding of it to bring light to correct ZON.
3. S. (17:24) It turns out that in the fifth commandment we draw Mochin from ZA to Nukva and we clothe them in order to revive the Nukva?
R. We always do that. We always draw Mochin from above and clothe it in reflected light and in this way it becomes corrected.
4. S. (18:05) Is the advancement built on building a Masach and then praying?
R. Yes, yes exactly.
5. S. (18:27) What does it mean that he speaks in it?
R. It will become revealed to us and then we will know exactly what it means speaking. You can translate it verbally, but we need to attain it.
6. S. (19:23) If I may ask two questions here, in item 216, it says that when he engages in the Torah when he expresses it in them he is rewarded with the holy soul that helps him resemble the Holy Angels. What does it mean to engage in the Torah to express it in the mouth?
R. It means we have to be on a level where a person discovers the meaning of what is written in the Torah, and he can elicit it from himself. In that case, you are already connected to the degree of the torah. It’s not about speaking or breathing, it’s not connected to us, to the animal us in any way.
S. I have a question in item 215 where he speaks of the fifth commandment. It says that there are three Commandments in the verse with this we have to draw wholeness in the coupling face-to-face. Maybe my question is incorrect, but as far as I can understand, from above down is it correct to receive Hassadim from above down and Hochma has to be from below up? What does it mean to extend wholeness? What does it mean?
R. It is when the light of Hochma dresses in the light of Hassadim.
7. S. (21:36) What does it mean that a man has a part in the coupling with the Creator and his divinity?
R. That a person awakens this coupling and then this coupling happens; and the result of it influences it comes down to a person.
S. You said that coupling is connection with the Creator?
R. Connection with the Creator and light comes as a result of the coupling.
8. S. (22:15) I am a little confused here. We spoke about worlds and degrees of the world of Atzilut and their corrections, it felt like mechanics and suddenly there is a man, he engages in the Torah and you open it up, explain it?
R. No, you have to make an effort and do it. It is exactly written in this way so we would check ourselves and see where we are, and what else is missing.
S. Is it what he describes men going through here and what the degrees of Atzilut went through, are they related/similar?
R. I don’t understand what you’re asking.
S. We spoke about the MAN that is rising in Zeir Anpin and Nukvah rising up and correcting in all kinds of states and relationships. Now there is a man who engages in Torah and there is something else, some other corrections?
R. No no it’s the same, it’s just a question of who awakens this person. Adam, a person.
Reading Item #217 (24:00)
Reading item #218 (32:52)
9. S. (34:43) What does it mean, “those who wait for the Lord”?
R. Those who expect the Lord, they expect to reach him to come closer to him.
10. S. (35:12) In the previous, he mentioned eagles wings and how it helps to include?
R. Yes, whatever you say will be right for the time being.
11. S. (35:33) What does it mean where he writes that his action closing his eyelids before the dusk comes anticipating an impeding situation?
R. It means we have to hasten and extend the corrections before the order to receive comes to us. To extend the intention in order to bestow so it will be here first.
12. S. (36:21) Maybe a continuation of the question, but here it is written in the excerpt that those who deal in the Torah are called angels on Earth and they fulfill the Commandments of the Creator before they even recognize and thought about what they do. But, we always say that we have to build an intention. What is embedded here in the automatic fulfillment of the Torah before you can even recognize the thought/become aware?
R. I wouldn’t translate it this way of course, but suppose we have an opportunity to perform a commandment in an automatic way, meaning that I am completely connected to the Creator. That’s not considered keeping a Commandment, meaning I’m not keeping anything on my behalf. When I keep something, when I do something, it’s when I in principle I don’t know, I don’t feel. But rather simply because I want to resemble the Creator to begin with, this is why I perform all of this. This is called Tzimtzum.
S. So when it’s written they resemble angels, we learned, as I understood that the work of an angel is almost negative?
R. Yes, that’s because an angel has no egoism, so he does whatever he has to do, because that is how he is made. That’s why it seems to him that this is what is required, but the person has ego. He doesn’t want to do it, and when he does, it’s after work he has done. That’s why his effort is appreciated.
S. Meaning what we read it’s like a stage between the described?
R. Yes yes. Okay, we have concluded this part with you and let’s move on.
