Ushpizin David – Sefirat Malchut – Selected Excerpts from the Sources
1. Rav’s Introduction: Today it is guest David, Sefira Malchut which is the last day of Sukkot. Now we understand that all the corrections are concluded in Malchut. They accumulate in Malchut they happen in Malchut and Malchut is essentially the concentration and conclusion of all the corrections. And therefore David is King David, refers to Malchut, it indicates the end of all the corrections in the soul. All the corrections that were together we have to connect and be under the thatch, the screen and receive the upper light from above that will be revealed in the corrected vessel. And thus we’ll reach a state where all the upper light will enter our vessel. Through that we also come to the holiday of the day after which is called the joy of Torah, Simchat Torah where we begin to receive the upper light, not in the Sukkah but already outside the thatch, the Sukkah meaning that the upper light fills up all of the reality. It’s difficult to discuss Ushpizin David because David symbolizes the whole vessel, all created beings. It’s a complete disconnect from the Creator on the one hand, disconnection from the upper force, on the other hand it is our complete work which achieves the adhesion with the upper force. And therefore it is so intricately comprised of opposite qualities, opposite forces and also his life was such that he was always fighting which indicates his spiritual work. Ultimately he was also the King, Malchut, King of Israel. We will read, there is a lot written about him and there is something in all of them. Our friends collected these sources and gave it to us.
Reading Except #1 (03:38)
2. S. (04:51) What does it mean the corrected Malchut?
R. That she’s like the guest in front of the host, she can receive from the host all that the host wants to give and do all of it entirely in order to bestow. Meaning restrict her desire, open a desire to give to the host, bring contentment to the host and in that pleasure she wants to give to the host she aims to receive everything the host wants to give to her and thereby give back to the host her entire heart, her entire desire for the host. That means they become bonded, me for my beloved and my beloved to me.
S. Just remember that we learned that Malchut doesn’t receive anything into herself rather only in the first nine. And here it’s interesting, how is it corrected in this manner?
R. She corrects herself in that she receives all that’s the host wants to give to her but only in reflected light, through reflected light. This means she’s receiving in order to bestow. Meaning if you look from outside you see she’s receiving, if you look through to her heart of the Malchut you see she’s not receiving anything for herself, but she is turning everything in order to bestow to the Creator.
Excerpt #2 (06:49)
3. R. (08:06) This means the role of the Malchut is to achieve an intention in order to bestow with all of her forces of reception and all of her intentions to bestow.
Excerpt #3 (08:29)
4. R. (09:53) The mercy is actually in that in the will to receive wants to kill the will to bestow. However the will to bestow is not interested in killing the will to receive because it’s actually interested in even transforming it in order to bestow. So they are not in equivalence here, they are not in equal kind of force here. Because the general goal is not to annihilate the will to receive but to transform it in order to bestow. What the Creator created will become clear to everyone, that it’s for the benefit of the created beings and not in order to expel it, annihilate it from the world.
5. S. (10:55) We always talk about bestowal to the Creator but what bestowal are we talking about, bestowal for the sake of bestowal?
R. This is called receiving in order to bestow, what we have to do for the Creator. Because He wants us to receive and by us receiving we want Him to enjoy a hundred percent of our reception. And therefore we receive only for Him, and this is called receiving in order to bestow.
6. S. (11:39) What does it mean that the Creator will proceed his salvation? That the Creator will deal mercy with me first?
R. That it all depends on our preparation. If we are ready and to the extent that we are, the Creator wants even more our correction to come first and that we will come as quickly as possible to connection with Him.
Excerpt #4 (12:25)
7. R. (13:42) Yes, meaning from them aspects of bestowal King David receives, this is Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and from the aspects of reception which is Isaac Gevura, he only receives vessels of reception in order to use them to the extent that it can happen through the aspects of Abraham, Jacob, Joseph. This is the kind of combination of the forces that we see in David and that’s why he is called King of Israel because this Malchut collects and accumulates all of the forces and combines them in the correct way. Therefore the life of David as it’s written in the Torah is not a simple life; he was always in battles and problems and had to escape all the enemies, haters and so on. Meaning he didn’t have an easy, good life but by that he corrected the entire Malchut. And also we call it Messiah the son of David which emerges from this aspect, this Behina.
8. S. (15:25) If we hold on to this point of the greatness of the Creator then all the rest of qualities are processed automatically?
R. It’s not just happening by itself, is goes through us and we need to discover them anyway one by one, feel them but it happens, yes. You don’t need to learn how to go into some quality or out of some quality but if we go in order to bestow in an increasing connection with the friends, then in the point of our heart we gradually begin to feel gradually begin to reveal the quality of Malchut.
9. S. (16:25) What is Israel that has no King and what is Israel that has a King?
R. Israel who doesn’t have a King means that they can’t build the Malchut and make themselves compatible to the Creator to a complete extent. Because the King of Israel refers to this equivalence with the Creator that the created beings generate within themselves in their connection.
10. S. (17:20) It is written, does David only have to fight an externality or internality and also externality?
R. Basically essentially yes, he also had to fight externally even though it’s not mandatory it doesn’t have to happen. Now we at some point will learn about what is the connection between internality and externality, what’s the relationship between these two. We will learn that, we’re not getting into this now, we also don’t have enough material for this now. What is the inner war and the outer war and the connection between the two and how much we can transition our efforts and our battles from outer to inner and the other way around, this is a big problem in our world. It will soon become more revealed how we can fight internally and thereby reduce the external war and arrange it on the inside. Right now we don’t have the material or the quotes for it, but we will. The world is moving towards that, it will become more relevant, and we will also be able to build some dissemination system in that regards to prevent more war. How we should explain to the people of the world that when we transition the wars to a spiritual degree there we certainly come to corrections. Rather than just keeping the war on the level of this world which brings no correction to the world besides just accumulating suffering with no conclusion from it there should be a decision that we engage in correction. So soon it will come, we are moving faster towards the final correction. There is still a way to go, but the aspects of it are gradually being revealed.
11. S. (20:35) It is written here that the right aspects of bestowal the ones who use aspects of King David is always asking for the upper force?
R. King David always asks for the upper force, awakening himself towards the Creator in corrections and prayers. And alongside that he himself fights with the opposite forces towards connection and adhesion with the Creator. And therefore his work was both in terms of the external war and the internal war.
12. S. (21:32) If the end of the holiday of Sukkot symbolizes the end of correction why do we also have Purim?
R. We are going through the cycle of the year and all those holidays Purim, Passover we have to go through them, they each time appear in new degrees.
Excerpt #5 (22:08)
13. R. (22:55) Meaning David who is Malchut, who is the aspect of the Messiah, who is the one who establishes all the general structure of the soul. There is nothing more important than Malchut where all the qualities, all the forces accumulate and converge and come to a state where they can resemble the Keter. So this Malchut connects to ZA, and they come to a great coupling, Zivug, and by that Malchut fills the ZA and thus comes to the final correction. From the side of creation ZA is like the Creator towards Malchut but he seems as empty because she cannot reveal and fulfill him. Therefore what Malchut does ultimately is she fills ZA and thereby achieves adhesion with the Creator and ZA towards her appears as the upper one, as her husband, as the Keter.
Reading Excerpt # 6 (24:37)
14. R. (24:56) With regards to King David’s harp there’s a lot to say. It comes to us from above because the violin or the harp actually plays by itself because the Creator Himself plays the violin in order to be connected to Malchut, to David. We will study it at some point, these things are very delicate, very subtle how the connection is arranged between the Malchut and the Creator. We are learning that soon. But ultimately King David’s harp symbolizes this connection that comes from the side of the Creator towards Malchut.
15. S. (26:01) What is the essence of the holiday actually ?
R. Holiday means a degree, a degree of conclusion of things we went through and corrected before that. Holiday, the word Hag also comes from the word Mechugar which refers to the rotation which means that it cycles, it goes and comes back once a year. And we have to relate to it in a similar way because we can’t correct everything all at once, rather we have to repeat it and review it and then go to others through other things in the same circle or the same cycle of the year. That’s how we gradually come closer to the complete correction, the final correction.
S. You say that this is a degree of connection?
R. Yes of course, everything depends on the degree of connection between us.
16. S. (27:25) In the ten what is Malchut?
R. Malchut is what we need to build. Meaning that there is no such thing, we have to connect to such an extent that we will feel the conclusion, the summary of our efforts to connect with all of the desires that go against it and with all the intentions that go in favor of it and all of it will be Malchut.
S. Afterwards what is corrected is the general desire? That upon it we need to build and make restriction and reflected light?
R. Yes, yes.
S. Restriction of what exactly, the Creator, the upper light, that in this general desire we don’t receive?
R. No no no. We don’t restrict the light we restrict the desire. We play with our desire in order to play with the light through that.
S. Meaning the desire towards the light of the Creator we make a restriction upon that, upon this general desire in the ten?
R. Let’s say so, yes.
S. How can you do such an action together in the ten?
R. Try getting closer and closer to each other. That you understand what is standing before you and you need to overcome that. You will see that when you understand each other, agree with a goal and the action then you do it, you know how to do it, you know how to ask the Creator to do it.
17. S. (29:55) It’s a principal this cycle ends on this degree? Do we pass on the love to the created beings?
R. We have to be in King David, Malchut and try to be in today and not tomorrow.
Reading Excerpt #7 (30:27)
18. R. (31:31) Meaning to rise to such a degree where the Creator shines with his light on all the created beings. This is the Malchut that achieved the complete correction, a very moving and epic big thing. It says David went and walked in the ways of the Torah meaning that through the Torah he corrected himself and was rewarded with vessels of bestowal. In these vessels the abundance is poured from above and a person is rewarded with the good who does good. Meaning everything that comes from the Creator that the Creator wants to give to the created beings, meaning then he attains the real name of the Creator which is good who does good.
19. S. (32:29) Today we’re learning in the lesson about King David which symbolizes for us the sphere of Malchut. We your students each one of us that are asking questions during the lesson it’s like we’re taking a bite of this global integral knowledge of Malchut of Ein Sof. Are our questions helping to build a new understanding and sensation, a greater understanding and sensation from the picture of Malchut of Ein Sof?
R. Yes, your questions also help me because I better and better learn in what way to relate to the students. It is said I have learned from all my students which means that the questions of the students, the thoughts make a wrapping for the teacher and help him express himself better and better. That’s why I am very thankful to you.
Reading Excerpt #8 (33:52)
20. R. (34:23) Because the wholeness of the world appears in the vessels of the created beings and the wholeness of the Torah appears above that in the upper light. Therefore he says how I love your Torah. That he attains from within the vessels the degree of the light which comes and builds and fulfills all of reality. I don’t have anything to add here, it’s all perfect what’s written. It’s an episode of Psalms, how I love your Torah, I speak of it throughout the day.
21. S. (35:17) What does it mean to yearn for the aspect of Torah?
R. Torah means all the light that comes from the Creator, both the light that fulfills and corrects and everything is done by the light, we know that. That it gives birth to the vessels, develops the vessels, breaks the vessels, corrects the vessels, this is with respect to the vessels. Other than that we are these Kelim and so He gives us the motion and mind and the ability to come closer to each other and move away from each other, everything is done by the upper light. Therefore all of these actions of the light, of the upper light all together are called Torah. Meaning what is the Torah? It is all of the actions of the Creator on the created beings all together. We don’t see it like that from the Torah and from history and so on but this is essentially what we have. The Torah explains to us how we go through changes until we move from the state of zero, basically where we don’t exist as created beings to the point of the created beings that are like the Creator. Meaning the Torah tells us how we rise to a reality where we are connected, embracing, and bonded with the Creator.
22. S. (37:18) This Malchut that is connected, it’s receiving all the intention to bestow to the Creator through the created beings or directly to the Creator? How does it work?
R. Malchut, what, I don’t understand. Do you want to ask about Malchut or the Creator or the created beings?
S. About the process that she’s receiving on the intention to bestow to the Creator, is it through the created beings or directly to the Creator? Does the component of the created beings have to be in this process?
R. Of course, the created beings themselves are the Malchut. There are no created beings and Malchut and the Creator and this and that, no. It is altogether the same the same whole.
23. S. (38:20) What is special in the Torah that it corrects the intention to receive?
R. Torah is the upper light that comes from the upper force and this light that comes to the created beings corrects them by matching them in order to bestow to the source of the light, the Creator. This is what is special about Torah.
24. S. (38:56) Can you say that to love the Torah is to always reveal that there is None Else Besides Him and the good who does good and connects everything together?
R. Yes but that’s insufficient. We have to try to resemble the qualities of the Torah so that they fulfill us.
25. S. (39:28) How to correctly give the friends the sensation of attainment? Is there some scale of measure by which we?
R. We must not do that or discuss that but only discuss love, connection and not the internality, how my heart works and so on. We can’t do that; we will corrupt each other by that.
26. S. (40:09) In the excerpt it says that David reached wholeness and wanted more and to us the wholeness is what we look for. What is this thing that there is more? How can you want more beyond wholeness?
R. We’re talking about the wholeness of our state, but we want to talk about the wholeness that we’ll be able to feel the Creator in all that He wanted to receive from us. Like a small child who wants to give back to mother, to give mother all his attitude towards her, that’s how we want to relate to the Creator, and we want Him to feel it, to receive it from us, feel our love and our giving in a manner that’s without limits, without borders.
27. S. (41:34) It seems like this quality is always on the one hand the Creator. The upper force hides towards it and she’s always in some search and yearning. So where do the where does the fuel come from to continue this work all the time?
R. You have infinite fuel, it comes from the Creator. We need only to desire that they will appear in us. I will tell you; you will soon begin to feel just how much forces He has in our will to receive but rather in our will to bestow. This is what our world is suffering from in corporeality. That we don’t have force, we don’t have energy. We need to take everything out of the earth or out of the air, all sorts of things, it’s impossible to receive energy from zero. But on the intention to bestow, that we connect to the upper force and work according to the same method like the Creator, then we have unlimited forces. It’s not atomic forces or electronic forces it’s unlimited forces, forces from the higher degree than our corporeal material, matter. To this we’re intending to reach both in our spiritual work and our corporeal work and then everyone will know that only this is the salvation. That by the forces of connection and love we reach the source of energy, corporeally and spiritually in an unlimited manner. That is called love will cover all crimes.
28. S. (44:00) How can we relate to or treat these forces that we don’t even feel?
R. We will begin to feel them gradually more and more, I’m telling you that’s how it comes. A bit, and a bit more and a bit more. There are many things in the world and as we grow then maybe a bit more and a bit more and we reveal that these things exist.
S. So we have to work according to what we feel, that we receive and then?
R. This year you will see it, you will begin to reveal it in practice. Of course on the condition that you will try to realize what we are learning. It will happen.
29. S. (45:03) What is the connection between Yesod and Malchut?
R. Yesod on one hand builds the Malchut because it is above the Malchut like a male above a female. On the other hand Malchut directs, aims, connects to Yesod in order to give Yesod an expression, and the entire expression of Yesod is in Malchut. There will be a few more excerpts, we have a lot of excerpts today and you will see how they work together.
30. S. (46:06) Is Malchut the final state we need to reach according to the state of faith above reason or is the first stage towards the complete connection to raise MAN to the Creator to reach correction?
R. We need to reach a state that all our vessels, all our Sefirot from Keter to Malchut and from Malchut to Keter will all be as one circle, one equal.
31. S. (6:47) If we speak about the discernment of Malchut being David I assume we speak about the corrected Malchut, about Kedusha, Malchut of Kedusha?
R. Yes, of course, the King David is the corrected Malchut.
S. So we are the un-corrected Malchut?
R. In the meantime we’re not even Malchut because we’re not connected between us. Malchut is already qualities of the will to receive which are connected and parts of the will to receive that are connected and want to reach an intention to bestow.
S. I have some more general questions: how does it then work in the ten with Ushpezin? Is it like in our connection we embrace the qualities of Ushpezin and if we do this together then we rise to the next degree as a ten?
R. Yes, very simple.
S. We learned in the past that go into the next degree is Keter of the ten connects to the Malchut of Kedusha. Can you elaborate on this process? How does it work?
R. No, no enough. Up till here. You’re entering into a field that doesn’t belong in the lesson.
32. S. (48:48) Will learn that Torah is the totality of the actions of the Creator even though the created beings will be like the Creator, and there is the weekly portion that says before the people of Israel entered the land of Israel and Moses died, and so on. Why does the Torah speak so little about the land of Israel?
R. Why doesn’t Torah speak of the land of Israel? Did you read the Torah? Read it and see just how many verses there are about the land of Israel. Of course.
S. The Torah ends where the people of Israel stay in the desert and don’t enter the land of Israel. Why does the Torah end there?
R. The Torah talks about corrections and the entrance to the land of Israel is already corrections in practice. The Torah doesn’t talk about this and so you have Torah, Nevi’im, Prophets, and the writings, you have many books that were written after the Pentateuch, the five books of the Torah, the whole Torah is before the entrance to the land of Israel but it continues and talks about the entrance to Hevron, the entrance to the land of Israel, and wars, and how all the tribes spread out and what occurs afterwards with the Malchut, actually this whole process ends in Exile of Babel, Babylonian Exile, during the time of Nabuchodonosor we need to learn all these things in the meantime don’t get confused.
33. S. (52:23) A Sefira that is filled and corrects itself and she is filled by light. What is the process of the Sefirot on the way to enter Malchut and the connection between them of course to bring the final general correction, what is the work relationship between them?
R. We have gone through all the aspects before Malchut. Today we’re talking about Malchut. You have to go back and go through all these aspects, Malchut is comprised of them, and accordingly understands why in order to be the vessel of reception for all these aspects, Sefirot, light, which are above her.
34. S. (53:26) How can I attain and use the quality of Malchut in the ten?
R. That I am ready to receive everything from everyone, serve everyone in the ten, and truly to support each and every friend and everyone together, that is what Malchut does and thus in this she gathers all the forces that are before into herself and becomes Malchut of direct light for the Malchut of reflected light.
35. S. (54:50) How can we incorporate with a deficiency of everyone like David, it feels like great darkness?
R. Thus he’s called the King of Israel because he suffers for the whole nation, receives blows for the whole nation, and fights for the whole nation. That is actually the work of Malchut. Even we see in all of David’s history we see how difficult this role is.
S. Can we learn something from this overcoming from the war that he symbolizes?
R. His wars are the wars of an entire life. Forty years he was a King and forty years he was a warrior, a fighter and along with this he wrote Psalms in which he blesses the Creator without limit from all the heart although he himself suffered greatly and everyone wanted to harm him and his son and everyone, what not. Along with this despite that he feels and understands that it comes from the Creator he is in absolute love for the Creator. All his forces he returned in love.
36. S. (56:46) If you to hold a greatness all the Creator besides private corrections what other corrections are there?
R. I don’t know. We, in sum total need to learn and you are asking a question which is not a question. We need to learn from all the material that we are learning, you want to run away from all the material and receive some recommendation in one sentence. Doesn’t work that way. I understand you; I also wanted the same thing. We need to incorporate with the entire story, with the entire message that the Torah wants to pass on to us, and to incorporate in it and receive it as much as possible with all our heart and soul.
37. S. (57:53) How should a person accept correctly the attainment in such a way that he doesn’t give it to others?
R. Help everyone, friends meaning, in the group in everything that they need and from this you will see just how much it advances you.
Reading Excerpt # 9 (58:34) “Just as the tower of David is a strong tower …” Twice.
38. S. (01:00:39) David is a huge friend. What does it mean to engage in Torah day and night?
R. It illuminates and when it doesn’t illuminate, a person needs to make an effort to engage himself to be as much as possible to be close to the Creator to his bestowal.
39. S. (01:01:05) We are now learning how David worked and these songs, these requests, would it help me and my connection with my friends to see only the high qualities in the aspirations of my friends towards spirituality just that I want to see and jump above it and ignore all the mistakes and the incomplete things and always try to see their greatness and grow towards the Creator, when we will arrange this kind of work between us like David?
R. We already in the process in which there is no difference between us in anything but rather only towards connection that each one invests in this is there is difference between us meaning the differences between us depends only on us that is it what we need is not to pay attention to names or to some numbers rather only how much I am drawn to the connection with everyone and how much I push everyone to connection and where we are today compared to yesterday and where we want to be tomorrow that is it and thus the questions these different questions are like secondary they’re not so important. I give very much thanks to you for all of your participation over many years. In this matter will push and push everyone to connection. This year we truly need to reach that all our friends, all our groups, all our Tens will feel that we are all connected together.
40. S. (01:03:56) What is David that he connects between us he is the conclusion of Sukkot? What is that force that connects us?
R. He is the King of Israel Malchut because he is ready to connect. He is ready to suffer for everyone. He fights for connection for everyone and this it’s his role, his role from above and the fulfillment of the role below.
S. We also said Joseph connects all the aspects
R. Joseph is not in practice like David. Joseph is the beginning of David and David is truly the Messiah.t That his force is truly the end of correction.
41. S. (01:04:42 ) You talk a lot about the coming year. What do you see?
R. I see that we are reaching connection that we will begin to feel. How it exists within us. That we are connected more and more. I don’t remember and I don’t remember names or faces you know I don’t have any. I’m not very good with names. We will reach the state, that we will feel all of us together, just simply together. That all of us they’re closer and closer, more united truly as if in contact, touching one another with our flesh with our skin. In this manner we will advance to be as one man in one heart towards the Creator, as the guest and the host and will be an out of this we connect to one another. This we will give the Creator because we have nothing to give to the Creator other than our connection. As much as we connect between us, that is called our giving to the Creator and that is how we will feel it in practice for all of us in the coming year.
S. You said that there are infinite forces of bestowal between us that we will begin to feel them. The question is what to do now before we start to feel them. What is in our power to do to extract these forces between us?
R. To do is called what we do is such an effort, in this manner each one with the others not in practice that we will sit and hug each other. rather the internal forces and in our prayer. The Creator feels what is in man’s heart and if each one of us will awaken a bit more and get closer and closer to each and every friend, men with the men and women with the women, and thus absolutely we will begin to feel just how much the Creator is expecting us and he’s getting closer to accept us, to receive us.
41. S. (01:07:46) What exactly needs to change in our connection this year?
R. Many things, just these are just emotional things so it’s hard for me to say. We will feel how much our connection and the world Kli becomes more and more intense, as much as without high words and shouts, more from the inside, that we want to be more connected supporting one another. That the friends are more dear to me than my own, this is what we need to see: the intensity of our connection. That according to the size of the intensity and internality of the intensity this is what I am hoping for, will be revealed.
S. What determines the intensity of the connection?
R. We determine that.
S. Yes but how do you see that the connection was stronger than it was?
R. I feel it within my heart, how can I measure it, check it, feel it, only according to my heart.
S. What will my heart want that it doesn’t want today?
R. I want ultimately that everyone will enter my heart, that my heart will include everyone.
S. And how does this transition when you begin to live from fuel that is different, that it’s not my fulfillment but their fulfillment, fulfillment of friends and I live by that?
R. I don’t exactly understand what you were asking, but simply I want to feel everyone in my heart, to close them, that they want to run off to escape. That my heart will hold them more and more, strengthen them more and more, and in this matter I’m giving my heart to the Creator.
S. This transition from beginning to feel that your livelihood is from the friends attaining this internality and not necessarily what happens to you, how does this transition begin happening that you begin to live for the sake of their spirituality?
R. I don’t think about myself, I think that they will all be satisfied from this, that they have a great, whole Creator that dwells in everyone and that, on my part, I am bringing them to this meeting with the Creator, I am glad in this that they are coming to know the Creator.
S. So why specifically this year, what is special about this year that we can do this?
R. Well, today, we did a preparation, the first stage of preparation, now I feel that we can enter into the first stage of connection and ascent.
42. S. (01:12:11) What you said about additional connection this process has already began because I want to share with you that we went through difficult Sukkot in the ten and friends from Moscow Four asked to join with us and we made a few meetings and preparations. Please tell us, the guests are the hosts what is the importance here?
R. It is actually not important if you’re the guest or the host but in any case to be the host is more, it is more important because you are investing more in this. You are expecting more of this, you worry for it, you care for it. And thus the correction of the vessels of the host and between the groups is greater than the correction of the vessels of the guests.
43. S. (01:13:31) What does it mean that King David went through many blows and suffering but he was happy at the same time and adhered to the Creator?
R. He wasn’t so happy, they were very difficult states, he would run away escape, he would be facing, truly, his life was in danger. It was even written about his corporeal life, that it was all accordingly, it is worthwhile reading about him but from the true sources, authentic ones. We need to be familiar with it.
Reading excerpt #10 (01:18:26) “Oh Lord the God..”
44. R. (01:19:09) It’s known about King David that he would wake up at midnight, it’s not according to our clock, midnight is halfway through the night; and he would pray and study and sing, he wrote his Psalms, and he would advance himself towards the day.
Reading 11 (01:19:52) “And I awaken the dawn..”
45. R. (01:20:20) Meaning the other way around: meaning he controls the entrance and departure of the light and not that influences him, he is above the actions of the light on him. He is doing his actions and his screens above the light, “I awaken the dawn and the dawn does not awaken me”.
46. S. (01:21:00) What does it mean ‘to awaken the coming of the light’, what does it mean ‘to awaken the departure of the light’?
R. That he can bring about the arrival of the light and also the departure of the light, yes, because after the light departs, it’s a new day and a new light, and we have to bless all the stages of the arrival of the light and its departure.
Reading number 12 (01:21:44) “Our sages said..”
47. R. (01:22:38) So he won’t receive an order to receive, the light that comes.
Reading continues (01:22:45)
48. R. (01:22:57) We ask that the light that will shine, will shine on us with all of its might and forever.
Reading 13 (01:23:17) “Baal HaSulam said about…”
49. R. (01:24:07) It’s not like us who depend on how much the light shines on us; but instead, even before the light shines there are forces, special forces, that King David would awaken so that he would awaken the dawn that would start shining and acting on him.
Reading number 14 (01:24:37) “King David said that he does not accept…”
50. R. (01:25:07) Yes, in order to advance he, himself, would awaken the blackness and in this way, he controls both the light and the darkness. Meaning the day and the night and he advances from state-to-state, that’s why he is called the king. And he had it to such an extent that he would even awaken the darkness, he would awaken from the darkness. He waited for spiritual states that would awaken him to serve the Creator. As much as it’s bad, as much as it’s dark, he felt more, greater necessity in spite of that in overcoming those forces to approach the Creator. This work is very big and very special.
51. S. (01:26:30) It’s confusing, we say not to awaken the left but it kind of sounds similar: to awaken the dawn mean to awaken the left, so what’s the difference?
R. I’m not going to get into it right now, the left line and the dawn are not the same; the left line is criticism, and the dawn is the general state that exists before.
52. S. (01:26:59) You said that there was a state where he expected the spiritual forces, what does it mean to expect spiritual forces to come and help in the ten, what is that state?
R. He would pray, meaning he lacked vessels when he felt he was in the state of darkness and there is lack of vessels, and then he would turn to the Creator, and he would ask for those vessels and that was joy for him because he had a reason to turn to the Creator. We want to receive and he wanted a reason, he yearned for a reason to turn to the Creator, that’s the difference.
53. S. (01:28:05) Where did he have the forces for this, what, was he chosen?
R. Yes, of course King David signifies for us, symbolizes, the general Malchut, the kingship so he had the power to behave this way; it gives us an example in what we can resemble him.
54. S. (01:28:34) What does it mean to awaken the darkness between us and how do we do it?
R. By yearning for connection and then we discover just how much we are not in it, let’s say that for now, this is the awakening of the darkness between us.
Reading number 15 (01:29:11) “Prayer for David”
55. R. (01:30:03) The prayer of the poor or for the poor, and then the prayer of King David or for David, and then the prayer for Moses, three degrees in prayer.
Reading number 16 (01:30:29) “One should receive strength from above..”
56. R. (01:31:58) And so gradually he can reveal The Good Who Does Good.
57. S. () I heard that you were saying that he awakens the light and that’s why he’s called King, what is that, usually it’s someone who exploits or suppresses?
R. It’s the upper force, the King, the upper force, Malchut, kingship, when it comes with its influence, with its reflected light, all the way up to Keter, it’s called King, Melech. Where its Malchut but it reaches all the way up to Keter, then it’s called a King. If we discover the actions of the Creator in this way then He becomes a king for us but why? Because we accept Him, it’s not like He’s outside of us, He’s inside of us, He’s working, He’s acting, He receives our work, our service and He raises us to His degree. So when we are in His level and in His degree, we can say conclusively and completely that He is the King. Meaning we bless Him, we give thanks to Him, we understand, we reveal and we feel that we have reached the degree of the Creator. And that’s why we call it ‘the King’, it’s like a special prayer.
58. S. (01:34:08) If feels that when you’re in a state of darkness and you want ‘to awaken the dawn’, you have to come to the ten, and when you come to the ten there’s a state where you ask for something to connect with them. And it’s like you get an answer, you’re with them, you start the work and then there’s like another prayer that you have to put in there, like another request and if you don’t do it, you lose everything. So what’s that second prayer after you awaken the dawn?
R. You will reveal adhesion with the group and then through it reveal adhesion with the King.
S. That’s the difference between the prayer of the poor and the prayer of David?
R. Yes.
59. S. (01:35:04) We just read that there are three degrees of prayer: the poor, of David, and Moses. We pray every day, what degree is that on with our prayer?
R. I didn’t understand, on what degree are we on?
S. Yes, we pray every day between us so what degree are we on? We read that there was three degrees of Prayers.
R. Who is “us”, this “we” that you’re asking about, each and every one, all of us together, who is this “we”?
S. On a daily basis in the ten and in the whole world Kli we pray.
R. I cannot say, I first of all it’s forbidden, but also I still cannot say, I cannot tell on which degree you are on when you pray together. If you wish to know, ask, I don’t think it’s even worthwhile to ask about it because you wish to be constantly advancing together and as much as possible; whatever you have you have, typically you don’t ask about it. Rather you only push yourself forward, try to scrutinize all the questions around the end it will advance you
S. We actually need to aspire for these prayers are reading about now?
R. Yes, yes but the results from prayer should be that you feel yourselves more united.
60. S. (01:36:52) What we just read in the Zohar about faith that he should feel the operator so as to feel that he does good?
R. Yes.
Excerpt 17 ( 01:37:21) “David is Malchut..”
61. R. (01:37:53) Yes, the Lord is high and the low will see. There are many verses about this. The more a person lowers himself the more he merits connection with the Creator. That should be clear.
E Excerpt 18 (01:38 20) “King David always Lord Himself..”
62. R. (01:3857) That stone that the builders loathed and rejected and that became their cornerstone. Specifically from this foundation from the stony heart on top of the stony heart the end of correction was built.
Excerpt 19 (01:39: 25) “The Ushpizin of David…”
63. R. (01:39:11 He feels that he can bestow more and more to the Creator and he’s still not in. It’s a very special deficiency, the Creator did it as a favor to David to feel that there is always more to add.
Excerpt 20 (01:40:10) “It is written (Psalms 121), “I will lift up my eyes to the mountains”
64. S. (01:40:59) We always need to see ourselves as standing on the outside and not to ask about our advancement?
R. That’s a great degree that you’re inside but it feels like you’re outside. you’re advancing but it seems to you as if you haven’t even started the work. That’s a good state, that’s the correct state.
S. We actually have to aspire to this?
R. Not to Aspire to this but this is what should be revealed in a person.
65. S. (01:41:44) It turns out that if we advance every time from an expectation for the next state that isn’t necessary for you? Is it all through the path of miracles?
R. I don’t quite understand what you’re saying that you can’t advance to something that you’re drawn to but let it be this way for the time being.
66. S. (01:42:11) There’s big qualities for big people, what should I do now to resemble them?
R. Yes, try to resemble them,
Excerpt 21 (01:42:40) “know that the Creator does not accept..”
67. S. (01:43:54) Is David the one who builds the sukkah?
R. It’s not David building a sukkah, but in order for all the qualities to appear gradually, eventually it will be not for the sake of David but for the joy of Torah, Simcha Torah, all the upper light and the light of Ein Sof will all appear through the sukkah? How can that be because the sukkah is the thatch. The thatch barely lets any light pass, it’s like a screen but specifically when we finish all the guests we need to say that through all our guests there comes to us a sukkah of the light of end of correction. We see that the sukkah is the sukkah of peace and wholeness and it covers all of the earth and all of the created beings and they are all inside of that sukkah. Which in total is the means for revealing the Creator to all the created beings that’s the sukkah.
68. S. (01:45:34) Is the whole essence of the holiday of Sukkot to accept the guests? Meaning the seven qualities in her heart, how can I implement this inviting of the guests?
R. Yes, we can take it like that. How do we accept it through the connection between us? That all the Ushpizin, all day guess, all the lights come when we connect daily more and more. All the seven days of Sukkot and then we receive and we welcome all our friends as guests inside our hearts, then we are all in one connection under sukkah, under one thatch, all of as one and then the light of this holiday is revealed completely.
69. S. (01:46:46) What is the prayer of the four. Is it important to understand which prayer is taking place in the ten?
R. There is the prayer for the poor for David in many names. We need to aspire to a prayer of all of us to the Creator. Let’s not get confused about it, we need to connect all of us in one hard meaning in one desire and for us all to connect with the Creator. Meaning in one heart in one desire and for us to all connect with the Creator. Our Prayer reaches the Creator. That’s what we have to think.
70. S. (1:47:26) In excerpt three it says that David is the Chariot for Malchut, what does this mean?
R. David is the end point of all of our desires, all of our decisions and everything there is. We call the city of Jerusalem, the city of David. David is a general name and with that we actually conclude our attitude towards the structure the way it’s constructed relative to the Creator. Messiah, the Son of David, the result of building the structure called David.
71. S. (01:48:37) In exit at 6 it says that the violin hung above his bed. What is David’s bed?
R. For that we need to read the Zohar. There’s a lot about David’s band and his violin.
72. S. (01:49:03) In excerpt seven it says that he corrected himself through the path of the Torah. What does it mean to correct ourselves in the Ten?
R. To correct ourselves in the Ten means to be, on one hand, to reach a zero relative to everyone as Rabash writes, a zero before everyone and he is the opposite of that. Then I raise myself to everyone and to be opposite to that. First of all I annul myself towards others and that is how I surrender before everyone and then I raise myself according to how I can help others grow and in this way I hold myself ahead of everyone, before them and in this way I conclude the Ten and I also open the Ten. In this way we come to the right connection with the Ten, the right one, both the first and the last. That is what I have to be, you have to pull them forward so for that I have to be first, to push them from behind and I have to be the last and in both I advance and I advance them.
73. S. (01:50:37) What is the Malchut that we revealed? What does it feel like? What are the actions that should take place in the ten when we reveal Malchut ?
R. We revealed that Malchut as the one who seals the Partzuf or Sefirot and the one who serves them, they are all the appearance of the upper light, the appearances of the qualities of the Creator. We are ready to receive them and for them to incorporate them in the connection between us and for them to shine in us
74. S. (01:51:34) How do we attain the quality of the good that’s good in the Ten?
R. To the extent we wish to relate to one another in this way according to the law of equivalence of form, we also reveal the Creator relative to us. This goes from the love of the Created being to the love of the Creator. As much as I can relate to good, nice and go to the friends then I discovered how the Creator relates to us nice and good.
75. S. (01:52:19) In what way does Malchut fill Zeir Anpin? What is the connection between them?
R. Zeir Anpin, we can call all the qualities above them Malchut and influence Malchut and then Malchut discovers Zeir Anpin by receiving from him the qualities, the forces, the fulfillments, and they’re all revealed from Malchut. It turns out Malchut reveals Zeir Anpin. He fills her, he reveals He is there as an upper force relative to her.
76. S. (01:53:23) David corrected himself through prayer, how can we correct ourselves?
R. Also through prayer, we have learned this many times, we have nothing to do but to pray. You can search far and wide but we have no powers, nothing good, not even bad, we receive everything from above; whatever we have to give towards the upper one is only our request, the prayer, that’s why He leaves to us, this is her work. So, the prayer of David, the violin of David, the work of David, we have to learn from that, David is King David, kingship, Malchut and we have to learn what to do because we are parts of David.
77. S. (01:54:35) How not to harm the Malchut of David?
R. The more you connect between you, you will feel how you are incorporated inside David.
78. S. (01:54:53) How does Sephirot have names of fathers and not of mothers as if the female force does not exist?
R. Correct, in the Torah it is speaks a lot about man and every so often about women, and it is not because there’s a matter of men and women according to gender but according to roles that all those who are called “women”, they have a role as a woman and when it is a man, so it’s the role as a man and it has nothing to do with male or female of this world, it doesn’t belong to it, we have to understand that the Torah isn’t relating to all of these things. Restriction, screen, reflected light, overcoming, that means ‘male’, how many of those were in the women? There were also and they work even more than the men in the spiritual matter manner, that’s it. That’s why I don’t pay attention to the gender belonging
79. S. (01:56:28) We talked a lot about incorporating everyone in the ten in our heart and turn our hearts to the Creator, deliver it; what does it mean to deliver the heart to the Creator?
R. Delivering the heart to the Creator means that all the desires you want them to be under His control.
80. S. (01:56:53) Whenever we learn about the Ushpizin, we learn about the meaning of the name, Josef, Moses, what is the meaning of the name David?
R. David is Kind David, oh, that Joseph, Yosef, is “Osef”, gathers, no. King David is the general name of Malchut, and there’s here and there explanations but that doesn’t belong to us. The main thing is that it belongs to the connection between everybody. We do not feel him yet, we don’t discover him yet because it’s before us. When we get closer to the final correction then David will be revealed; also the Messiah, son of David, that draws us to the degree of King David and then Kingdom can be revealed.
81. S. (01:58:07) You said that David had internal wars and external wars, do we always have such divisions between inner and outer wars in our work in the ten internally and externally, administrative matters?
R. We will discover that in the future, there’s always on every degree there’s an internal part and an external part. We also learn it in the Gatehouse of Intentions what we just start studying, we will see it there, it’s explained in a lot of places, we will learn.
82. S. (01:58:50) Please elaborate on the prohibition to share your personal attainment with friends?
R. We just simply have to awaken greatness of the Creator and greatness of the goal and except for that we have not to talk about. Our private attainments, we don’t talk about it because none of us is in, is beneath a whole screen, let’s say. That’s why each and every one’s will to receive can harm the other.
83. S. (01:59:50) You spoke about ‘authentic sources’, in which sources should we read about David?
R. The authentic sources, I understand that if you enter our website so there you have everything; except for our website I don’t think there’s anything else you should be reading.
84. S. (02:00:19) What to focus on in our work today?
R. Only the connection. I don’t know, I am constantly trying to find other ways to answer you but there are none because our whole tendency has to be in that direction. All the work, the end of correction is that we are all drawn into connection.
85. S. (02:00:58) Why should we add to increase in the tens to feel the connection between us in this year?
R. Dissemination, dissemination is very important. As much as we draw if not in quality so in quantity more and more friends from all over the world into our studies, I think it will help all of us and the whole world advance towards peace, wholeness. Let’s try and advertise everywhere. We have a department for dissemination. I heard yesterday, a few people who came to Israel for the holidays and I asked them what is the public first inspired from? They said the book Attaining the Upper Worlds. So maybe start from that book. I wrote it 35 years. Whatever comes out of the heart enters at heart.
Reading (02:03:22) #22 “ King David said (Psalms, 115), “Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Your name give glory, for Your mercy, for Your truth…”
86. S. (02:04:45) In what way most effectively should we be in order to reach the action of restriction? We learned that the action of restriction is severe, it’s not simple. How do we reach it optimally in the ten?
R. Only in connection. We have nothing to restrict. We need to be drawn towards connection between us and when we are in that tendency to connect we’ll see what we need to restrict, what to expand, what to do in order to become a vessel.
87. S. (02:05:35) Is the quality of peace created from the correct mutual connection between the Sefirot?
R. Yes
88. S. (02:05:56) it says here why would the nation say where is their God, He’s in the heaven, He does as He pleases. How to understand this?
R. That He is on a higher degree than us, that’s enough for us right now.
89. S. (02:06:28) You were talking about it’s all about connection. If we’re doing the work day and night concerning this connection you’re talking about what should we specifically focus on to reach let’s say this perfection of the quality of David?
R. Mutual completion of one another. That we’ll all feel that we are in the desire to bestow from all of us together towards the Creator. That is the action of perfection in its correction.
90. S. (02:07:27) We’re here now under the Sukkot in Holland.
R. Yes we can see.
S. What can we do concerning connection when we’re here right now under the Sukkah during this period of Sukkot. Do you have some advice for the Holland group?
R. To want to receive, accept the Messiah. Meaning the upper light that will pull you even higher to the Creator.
91. S. (02:08:09) I need to give gratitude to the Creator for the will to receive?
R. Of course. If not for the will to receive that the Creator created we would be disconnected from everything. What’s in the still vegetative and animate compared to the degree of man? That in man there’s a will to receive towards the Creator. And if he doesn’t want to receive the Creator he’s part of day still, vegetative and animate.
Reading (02:09:13) #23 “It is written (Psalms 78), “He chose David His servant and took him from the sheepfolds,..”
92. R. (02:11:07) Okay let’s quickly go to twenty-nine
Reading (02:11:16) 29 “Rise up, O Lord, and let Your enemies be scattered.”
93. R. (02:12:12) How do they want us to read psalms here at the end here of the document?
S. It is such a suggestion, it is not an obligation, simply to read.
R. But how can our friends around the world read it?
S. There are translation in all languages.
R. Okay, so please.
Reading (02:12:40) Psalm1 “34. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
Reading (02:13:56) Psalm “35. I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?…”
Reading (02:15:13) Psalm “36. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures.”
94. R. (02:16:19) And let’s know how about workshop: in what can we feel and summarize this holiday of Sukkot? What is the general feeling after this whole week that we went through this holiday, we have discovered Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and David, all those forces. We wanted them to bestow on us and let’s hope it keeps going and keeps bestowing throughout the year. Tomorrow, we have another special day called Simchat Torah, the happiness of the Torah, that all they lied that we receive from those great lights, we will receive it and it will bestow upon us and we will have a holiday, and what can we do now, what can we say as a summary from this whole week we went through?
