1. Rav’s Introduction: (00:19) Yes this is a special day, it is the memory of the passing of the great Kabbalist the teacher, the guide. It is always a special day when he rises to an even higher degree, and he is showing us that we should also follow him and reach after him. This is what we try to do throughout all of these excerpts that we see here before us, to talk about him, what is that special thing that he did? Actually we see that each and every Kabbalist of the great ones to take a step forward to bring the Wisdom of Kabbalah the revelation of the Creator, the method the understanding, the feeling, the connection to bring it closer to people in all kinds of different manners. What Rabash did, I think that he took the last step following everyone, that he was standing on the shoulders of all the Kabbalists that were before him starting from Rabbi Akiva and onward up to the ARI and the Baal Shem Tov.
He concluded and summarized what they revealed to humanity, and he gave it to us in a way that is ready and organized so we would be able to use it and realize it. Therefore we actually need to hold on to what he left us which is the work of the Creator which he wrote about and what Baal HaSulam spoke about which is already a broader manner. Rabash did not want to come out of the framework of man’s inner work to enter philosophy or history or all other things that are related to the development of humanity in general. He was very cautious of showing himself like those great ones like Baal HaSulam and the ARI or Ramchal, instead he guarded himself to be in modesty and this is how it was throughout his entire life. Therefore we need to open up more to his essence, his true magnitude and to see who our teacher truly was, so we have before us selected excerpts for Rabash Memorial Day, our teacher Baruch Shalom. Let’s read.
Reading 1 (04:54) Letter 38. “I Received Your Letter and Congratulate You…”
2. R. (05:15) Semicha, Rabbinical Ordination is like a certificate that you can get in a university. After person studies for a few years, actually all of the years from the age he entered the framework of the religious studies until the age of 17 or 18 or 19 whenever each one thinks he is ready he can come to his management and ask to be given recommendations. With those recommendations he goes to a special place where few great experts and learned people sit and talk to him and he answers a few questions and according to that they give him a diploma a certificate, a Semicha (Rabbinical ordination) in Hebrew to rely from here on you can rely on this person that he received this certification and then they gave him a diploma. Let’s read again the letter.
Reading (06:46 ) “I received your letter and I congratulate you for the Semicha…”
3. R. (07:42) Why does Baal HaSulam want him to receive a second ordination as second Semicha, diploma because in Judaism we have the two main lanes and from each one of them Baal HaSulam wanted him to receive a certificate that he passed their test and that he is ready he has the right preparation to be qualified and Kosher in their eyes
Reading (08:27 ) And should you say, “Where is this preparation?”
4. R. (08:57) Which means that they truly began to study from the wisdoms of this world like for us physics, chemistry, geography, and history and all kinds of such things. They had to start studying from all kinds of such pieces of knowledge about this world. This was in the early days this is how they started to study to finally attain the Wisdom of Kabbalah.
Reading (09:30) “And yet, not many gained favor in the eyes of the Creator…”
5. R. (10:24) This means that indeed Rabash was ready for an ascent to such great degrees about which the Baal HaSulam writes here. Here we see how much even though he was a son, and usually as a son is not somebody who is ready for great ascents following his father. However here it actually did not hinder him.
6. S. (10:56) What is the meaning of receiving from mouth to mouth? What does he mean that I will pass you the Wisdom mouth to mouth?
R. Mouth to Mouth means a connection between the teacher and the student. Mouth to mouth is the place where the Masach the screen stands as the learn about the spiritual Partzuf, the screen stands in the Peh, mouth so if they have a common screen between them, then one passes on to the other without any difficulty and the other one receives from the first one also in the same way manner without any concealment.
S. What is the mutual screen between the teacher and the student?
R. It is considered that they have one spiritual Guf a body and one screen and therefore there is no difference between one and the other. This is not throughout the entire area of the first and second but specifically in a particle away in which they connect.
S. Meaning let’s say a mutual screen is a mature desire? How can you depict it ?
R. Yes, it is a similar desire and similar degree of overcoming and they connect in order to work through the force of single restriction, screen ,and reflected light, for the time being they are truly as one.
S. In the group can there be a mutual screen between the Tens?
R. Yes. well not with such a force that we are talking about here but certainly, yes.
7. S. (13:24) Were the people who gave Rabash the ordination as a Rabbi were they also in spiritual attainment?
R. I do not think that it was so, maybe some yes, and some no. They were simply knowledgeable about all kinds of laws. This is not about tests which checked him of how much he is in spiritual awareness but rather he had the knowledge of the corporeal laws.
S. In that case why did he need the certificates to go forward as Baal HaSulam says?
R. In order to become called a great one among the people he has to be a great Rav and the great Rav means that he knows all the laws of corporeality which the Torah demands, which the Torah speaks of. These are the laws of Kashrut, Kosher, and the laws of how to conduct all kinds of holidays, the laws of cooking, the laws of preparing the Sukkah, having prayers and so on. Meaning what the common people need. A Rav is like their teacher, and he needs to know all of these things just like the teacher in the classroom and he has to be ready for it. Therefore ,let’s say after going through the university you have a teacher who wants to be a teacher in school. They give him tests and he has to know how he would conduct himself with the students.
How he should explain to them, how he should check them and what kinds of grades to give them , and what about all of these things. This is actually with this expected from him but a lot more than that because here it is about knowledge that is written not in the books of the ministry of education but books of the Talmud and Mishnah. There are lots of materials you should know but they are not related to the Wisdom of Kabbalah. In order to be accepted in the audience among the people as a great and qualified Rav a person has to pass these tests and to receive this ordination to receive the certificate, Semicha which is called the rabbinical ordination. Semich is from the word that you can rely on him, you can trust him, you can be certain about what he says and in what he is engaged.
8. S. (17:40) What is the meaning of ‘that the path is long, and their supply is scarce’?
R. The way is long, and the path is scarce means that we do not have many forces, but we have to attain many degrees from here onward, our ascent up. Therefore, we need to hurry up. This is what he says here. The speed is achieved especially through the friends as we learned and about this Rabash would later write in all of his articles.
9. S. (18:56) As you said that it wasn’t taken for granted that the son of a teacher would become a student and successor, what helped Rabash to become so special and chosen like that.
R. I think it is because he subjugated himself to his father and the father for him was first and foremost a teacher and not a father. He did everything that was required towards a teacher and not towards a father and this is why he was successful.
10. S. (20:03) About this expression that is written here twice which is finding favor with the Creator, the Creator’s grace by the wisdom that they attained, the Creator’s grace brought them closer because the Creator favored them. As Baal HaSulam writes the Creator favored him and that is why he opened the wisdom for him. What is this expression to be favored by The Creator?
R. When a person does everything that he thinks will be correct and proper and becoming in the eyes of the Creator, then he can reach a state where the Creator begins to relate back to him in the same way because all of the actions of the person then are like MAN. They waken the Creator to bestow back to him, to that person.
S. These teachers Rabash and Baal HaSulam were special souls, meaning these special souls from the get-go were destined to study the wisdom of Kabbalah so why do they seemingly need to do anything to find a favor with the Creator?
R. Who told you that these special souls don’t require any extra effort. Nothing it is even more difficult for them to reach a special relationship with the Creator than it is for you because you do not have the same disturbances that they have. It is not the way we think. The Creator does not have any favoritism towards anyone. He does not give any privileges. He does not favor one favor the other less, etc. There is nothing like that. The spiritual law is a spiritual law and certainly if you have a special soul according to that you will also have the burden of the heart. That you need to work hard according to this is how it is, as it is in our world to earn more than you have to work a lot more. There is no favoritism here, there is no preferential treatment because he is your father, He is your father that does not mean anything. This is how it is.
11. S. (23:36) You also received from Rabash teaching mouth-to-mouth, is it possible that you can pass to us this teaching to us this way, through the lesson, through these virtual connections?
R. We will reach a common screen which is called mouth to mouth then you will get it, it is not because we have some special relations and therefore I can give you more and others less, it is all according to the laws of nature only.
12. S. (24:33) What is the correct screen that we can generate between us in order to receive the teachings of the Kabbalists and be worthy of the path of Bnei Baruch?
R. I did not understand the question.
S. The question is what is the correct screen that we need to build , to create in order to receive the teaching from the Kabbalist and be worthy of Bnei Baruch?
R. We cannot in advance depict this screen. We have to get closer to this gradually and when we will reach that according to how much we reach it, we will feel how much we are equalizing with the Kabbalists and on each and every degree we will discover more and more Kabbalists, souls attainments and explanations and this is how we will rise on the degrees of attainment. This is how it works.
13. S. (26:16) What did Baal HaSulam mean when he explained to his son about something terrible, or modifications?
R. The terrible mortification means that earlier Kabbalists, thousands of years ago that they lived has to undergo many torments or modifications as it is written eating bread with salt, drink a little water and sleep on the ground and if you did so and studied the Torah and if so you do
throughout many years, then you can attain it. Then you are happy in this world and happy you will be happy in the next world. Which means that there were also degrees to subjugate oneself towards the spiritual path in a corporeal manner. Meaning to go through torments, blows and all kinds of problems. Cold and hot. lack of sleep, sleep on the ground, etc. Which means that the person would truly regress the natural desires of his body that he wants to lie down and sleep in the normal way. To ear and to sleep, that he won’t feel cold or hot but rather that everything would be neutral.
The Kabbalists back then wrote that it should not be so, necessarily. As much as you try go through torments over your body you come closer more and more in order to bestow, to Lishma for her sake, because you get accustomed that your body no longer feels cold or hot or problems if you sleep on the ground if you put some piece of rock instead of a pillow under your head. This is how it is; you eat what you find and you live a life of sorrow as it is written. This was in the early stages of the revelation of the Wisdom of Kabbalah to the created beings because in such a way, such a simple way, in a primitive way, they were able to control their ego and not let it erupt. The moment the ego erupts then they had to stop it, and to fix it through all kinds of strict and severe bodily actions.
Whereas, when the time has come, the times of the ARI and the Baal Shem Tov, then through the two methods we no longer require torments and such limitations because we know how to draw the reforming light and it will correct as and then it doesn’t matter where I sleep and how much I eat and more and more. Rather the most important thing is to get the reforming light and it takes care of us and it is responsible for us reaching Gmar Tikkun the final correction. In the beginning it was truly in such a corporeal earthly form truly to live like a dog, in a dog house. Therefore, all the other people who received the Wisdom of Kabbalah on the back of the Jews until today sometimes they sometimes go through the same customs to eat bread with salt and drink a little water and sleep on the ground and toil in the Torah, happy you will be in this world and happy you will be in the next world. That’s it.
14. S. (32:25) The Baal HaSulam writes that there is the teaching of the ARI and the service of the Baal Shem Tov. What is the teaching and what is the service?
R. It is a study we have to learn so we have to teaching so we have to learn the things and the work, and the service is what we have to implement, realize in our in our life, in the relations between as in practice between is and sometimes we study the articles of the Baal HaSulam and Rabash. Later on we implement them at least to some extent in the relations between us
15. S. (33:33) Today I might have a disconnect or a fall, but I live a comfortable life and I have everything I need I can eat, cold air, hot air, but anything I want to eat, I eat.
The question is, how did Rabash during those days and Baal HaSulam in those days were the Baal HaSulam in such tough days. How did they deal with disconnection or separation? It should have been much more difficult compared to what we have but we experience when we disconnect. How did they manage to climb and then connect again to the path? How are they so strong?
R. They had a small group and they themselves were special souls because from the shattering you have all kinds of souls, with a great shattering and small shattering, a great desire that has a great spark in it and l shattering a great desire that has a great spark in it or a small desire with a small spark in it and according to what they had and also the general time there are many other conditions. The general situation was also such that the souls had to be revealed in order to reveal the method of Kabbalah to the broad public. Therefore, here it was also in the times of the Ramchal and also in the times of the ARI and the Baal Shem Tov and in the times of the Baal HaSulam and Rabash.
16. S. (36:02) What would Rabash say or be happy about us in Bnei Baruch today?
R. This is something that you have to say what would make you happy or sad from the words of Baal HaSulam and Rabash. You should understand what they are saying more or less and say what makes you happy and sad. I do not have to understand more and more but they are saying and you have to say and what makes you happy and what makes you sad. I cannot say this instead of you. I am happy with anything that I discover more and more from their words because I feel that I connect with them more and more. That I surrender before them and in this way I try. This is how I try to advance. Maybe I do not understand your questions so please repeat them.
S. What we have in Bnei Baruch would make Rabash happy or sad ?
R. I am not saying that Rabash was happy about our advancement according to what our abilities are but according to our abilities what we are capable of and still look down at this would make him sad because it influences his place, his degree because we are those who follow him and succeed him.
17. S. (38:21) Thank you for this lesson. When we study this there is a question: how do these special souls like Rabash and Baal HaSulam and their operations, the way we use them, and how we realize them, these actions seemingly, it doesn’t matter anymore because they are not in this world or not. They are in another layer right? Is it correct to perceive this whole path that they’re soul is always with us and there is no difference if they’re in corporeal life or not. Whether they are in this world or not they are carrying out their actions. If I may ask, is there a difference if they are in this world or if they are not in this corporeal life or not. In this world or not, they carry out their actions. Is there a difference if they are in this world or their bodies are no longer here?
R. I cannot explain to everything that you asked about, and maybe you don’t even understand what you’re asking about but I tell you one thing though. We need to rise to the degree of the souls which is to bestow in order to bestow, Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama, meaning the degree of Bina, the degree of bestowal and if we do it then we will feel them.
That is how we will advance. Now where are they? There is no place in this world and the next. It all depends on the intention that rises to the will to receive if the will to receive has the intention to bestow it already in the spiritual world. If it had the intention to receive in order to bestow, then he is already in the world of Hochma and that is how it is . Now until we attain the screen, the restriction, the reflected light we cannot feel anything that is taking place in spirituality. The fact that sometimes you feel certain sensations, that doesn’t mean anything. It is for the time being small gifts, The Creator bestows to us like candy for kids so that we will keep going.
18. S. (41:24) A little bit more about the mouth to mouth with the common screen with the teacher. As it seems to us now it is the only opportunity to discover the Creator. On the other hand it seems that our work is a little bit different from that. Are we not directed toward something else, towards attainment through the Ten?
R. No, this is not correct if you read Rabash you see how much he keeps emphasizing the attainment can only be in the connection in the Ten.
S. Exactly, the question is the following, when we acquire a common screen with the teacher that can happen through total annulment and following and implementing all the advice from the Kabbalists this is one form which is understood. The second form let’s say is that we are not able to carry out the advice, we don’t succeed and when we hear a piece of advice from you or some guidance on how to operate, try to do what you are saying or pay attention to how the group responds to it?
R. The most important thing is to be connected to the Ten because you may understand or misunderstand me. In other words, your will to receive may twist you around but if you are you are connected to the Ten, then you have no chance of making any mistakes and being adhered to them and to annul before the Ten is the best the most correct action on the way to adhesion with the Creator. Just imagine the Creator is in the Ten. Cleave to the Ten and you will feel yourself approaching the Creator.
S. It turns out that this way of attainment?
R. It will come later. You don’t know what it is. You are just saying words. It’s not a contradiction at all with your connection to the society. You are so remote from this and you do not understand that you are confusing the two things thinking that they are in contradiction to the other. Stop thinking about it at all, it will be much more healthy for you. You are activating yourself according to your intellect to your logic and this is what stops you and even through you down.
19. S. (45:.07) Which light are we drawing faster as Rabash has imparted in the wisdom of Kabbalah?
R. I do not understand, which lights are we drawing faster? We are drawing the light that is suitable for our degree as much as we are capable of giving up our ego. The light is drawn to us.
20. S. (45:54) Baal HaSulam tells us here the best preparation before the attainment of the Creator is to attain the seven external spiritual teachings and the Wisdom of Kabbalah. What is it about ?
R. Repeat more clearly.
S. Baal HaSulam tells us here that the best preparation before the attainment of the Creator is to
attain the seven external teachings. What does this mean?
R. This is not for now. This is still ahead of us. We will see the clothing of the upper light and all the stages of this world or the prophecy of this world called the Seven Maidens.
21. S. (47:03) Why do we not have to obtain the seven external teachings in our generation? What is the difference?
R. We attain them but it is not like we have to pay attention to them or invest anything to attain them because they belong to the clothing of the upper light, in the forces of this world. It is irrelevant for us; we are on a higher level already. We will understand them, attain them, and feel them, that is ok but it’s not like we have to get into them and delve into it .
22. S. (48:00) Perhaps Rabash told you and under which circumstances he went through or crossed the barrier?
R. He did not talk about it, I did not ask him, and we do not talk about it or discuss it because each one has his own style, his own effort using the same rules that belong to everybody. He crosses the barrier each in his own way.
23. S. (48:37) I once heard you say about the seven teachings, the wisdom that these are certain corporeal things about the ordinary sciences.
R. I recommend that you forget about these seven external teachings. Forgot about them, they will only confuse you. You think that through that you can attain something and understand something but nothing. It was back in the days when people were not so developed. The souls were from different degrees, lighter and lower so they had to explain things in this way. You did not read the ancient books of Kabbalah. They explain that here you see that you have ten fingers and up above there are also ten forces, so they used these very simple rudimentary forms. Let go of those things and let us advance.
Excerpt 2 (50:00 ) RABASH, Letter No. 8 (twice)
24. R. (52:12) How can we understand this, let’s see the questions.
Excerpt 2 (52:38 ) RABASH, Letter No. 8 ” At the end of the day, this is a group of people…”
25. Workshop Q: (53:40) How do we realize and actualize it? How do we implement this? Maybe you can mention actions 1, 2, 3, 4 and then we can implement what is written here.
Excerpt 3 (59:40 ) “What Does It Mean that the Ladder Is Diagonal, in the Work?”
26. R. (01:01:29) If he is teaching how to connect to the Creator through the friends and come to this state to bestow to the Creator as through bestowing to the friends, then you can learn from it you can follow these actions that he is teaching.
Excerpt 4 (01:01:59) RABASH, Article No. 1 (1984), “Purpose of Society – 1”
27. S. (01:02:41) They will ask to learn Torah from him. Does that mean mouth to mouth?
R. No, mouth to mouth is quick word ahead of us before it. Mouth to mouth is according to a mutual screen between the teacher and the student. It is good to know that such a thing is also happening. It is present in my work but to come to it and reach it is not simple at all.
28. S. (01:03:08) How and why does a person reach a feeling and a knowledge that everyone is a servant of the Creator. just knowing it or not knowing it?
R. A person that comes to the understanding that everyone must serve the Creator that is correct. The question is how are they as servants of the Creator? Is it because the Creator arranges them or is it because they carry out all of his commandments through the will to receive and through the will to bestow. Do they themselves wish to be identified by the Creator with the will to bestow that they acquire by themselves?
29. S. (01:04:26) I hope the question is appropriate and it is mostly related to the young Tens in which I am a part of. Can we see ourselves that we are entering it like in a play? What does it mean to come with a certain role meaning that you leave a large part of yourself on the outside and you have a certain mutual screen meaning the certain part of something. before we read it because actually then we can summon the reforming light because we leave a part of ourselves on the outside and the incorporation is opposite.. mostly what Rabash wrote to us if you can guide us?
R. What you said is correct. Of course there is room to add but you will add by yourselves over time.
30. S. (01:05:38) How is the structure or the foundation of the structure of the group manifested?
R. When more and more people who are incorporated into the Ten they feel that they are dependent on one another completely. If one of them is leaving to some extent the entire system is already limping. Each one has to care about the other and they have to provide the Arvut. the mutual guarantee to each and every one and they have to feel this to do this. It is a very common feeling in the Ten. It is a very special feeling to do this in society, where they feel the general Arvut between them and then in this general Arvut they will begin to advance correctly and each one alone. Rather they begin to feel together, that they begin to advance together. Just like in one single boat where each one has an oar and everyone is doing the same actions, one two, three. and that is how it works, everyone together. They feel how they are advancing like that this is already group work and it is completely dedicated to the Creator and the Creator’s with them together with them and that they feel as if he is present in that same boat. He is holding them; He is giving them the strength and the direction so you have to come to that. Each group will themselves in a single boat and the Creator is managing them and advancing them and He is leading them.
31. S. (01:08:07) When we speak of a person like say in the articles when it speaks about the connection in the Ten or to me individually?
R. We are talking about the individual person here. We should understand that the main thing for us right now is to feel every Ten as a single boat and the Creator is holding them and is leading them and is pulling them in the right direction and the right direction, how can they depict it? They each time have disturbances and they overcome the disturbances and take another step forward. Is that clear?
32. S. (01:09:11) We learn that only when we become worthy, we understand our own parents, how they brought us up and how they educated us. Today when you are the teacher of thousands of students in the world, how do you understand Rabash’s investment in you? How do you see it?
R. I feel that as much as I appear before students I see all his support. I feel how deeply he understood what he wrote. He felt it according to how he was giving to my students. There are more things, but we don’t need to confuse you with them …
S. How do we relate to Kabbalists in the past that ended or departed or something that exists?
R. No, no, there’s no past, present, and future in spirituality. There is no time, rather only states/ Past , present and future. Accordingly we need to relate to us and where we are.
S. You said in the beginning of the lesson that Rabash actually sealed everything that the previous Kabbalists did. Meaning that he finished, he concluded the work. Let us put it this way. What did he actually do?
R. No, no, he did not reject what Kabbalists wrote. Let’s say I learned with him Adir BaMarom, the book written by Ramchal. What he wrote during the days of the ARI, the 16th century, when he lived in Italy and that is where he wrote these things. I don’t know, I think we simply need to follow one direction. Everything depends on your advancement. I cannot bring here a certain text and let’s say a certain homework that will not be suitable for the groups. The more you connect in your groups the more you will understand the principle that the wisdom of Kabbalah demands of you, and you’ll be able to implement them and realize them and you will receive answers from above and not from me. Very soon you will stop asking me, since once the text is clear and you are implementing it between you. You will receive the answer and then you will discuss this answer together in the framework of your Ten and that is how you are advancing from one side to another.
S. What is the place of a teacher and such relations in the group?
R. The place of the teacher is to give each time problems, questions, prayers around which students connect in order to feel them. to understand them and to open them up.
S. More out of curiosity, why didn’t Rabash write more about opening to the world about humanity?
R. That wasn’t his style of thinking. That wasn’t his direction at all. He was thinking in the social direction and I think it is an advancement as compared to Baal HaSulam. It was more realistic, it is more real, more practical. The world needs to be more connected and it will advance shouldn’t speak about philosophy and other things. This is according to the time of the Baal HaSulam, Ramchal, the Ari, they wrote differently. Baal Shem Tov didn’t write anything. He only spoke, that is what we have left of him, Baal HaSulam wrote more about fundamentals. Since it was not possible for him to speak to, to whom will he speak? In a practical realistic manner. how to realize those basic principles. Whereas Rabash, he was at the beginning of the development of the last generation and that is why he insisted on the Ten and the connection in the Ten and the advancement in the Ten. That is our goal. He also saw that all these things are not quite certain, and comprehensive or fundamental but rather there will be a few more descents and ascents before they settle down and end humanity.
33. S. (01:15:48) What does it mean to follow the war of the inclination until our last drop of blood?
R. This means that we don’t let the evil inclination that always wants to divert us, and to lead us to places that are outside of the scrutinies of good and bad or truth and false and we have to stand guard not to let it divert us.
34. S. (01:16:28) What does it mean if the Rav is similar to the angel of God they will ask the Torah from him?
R. Angel means he has no desire of his own but rather he passes a desire of the Creator through him to the students, that is all.
35. S. (01:17:02) How can I be a good student to Rabash?
R. A good student is one who is adhered to the words of his teacher, his Rav and keeps them as much as he can as he understands it as the way his teacher, The Rav teaches him, so read what Rabash writes and realize the way he says you should. It’s connection in the ten and adhesion with the friend until there is devotion between them.
36. S. (01:21:21) From the text about the war on the inclination, how do we become warriors?
R. Again.
S. How do we as warriors in the war against the inclination?
R. We should fight for the fact that except for the questions about the spiritual advancement, meaning connection between the friends, connection between the groups and rising above our ego in order to connect to that, besides these problems we are not opening our heart to any other problem, all the rest is secondary. I understand that it’s in each and every person that there are many other questions and problems and life, families, work, children’s health and more and more but these accompany us in this world in the meantime, as long as we live here. The main thing for us is to nonetheless elevate the questions of eternity, that is how we call them spiritual questions above that, and to care about them all the time. That in our head we will have a place where we are always concerned and think about the spiritual advancement between us, meaning only about the ever-growing connection between us.
S. (01:23:09) How does a person know if he is in the war against the inclination or only running from it?
R. That all depends on his inner feeling, is he fighting in keeping the connection with the friends, so that is called The war of the inclination. In the meantime for now that is where it is between him and the friends, he wants to advance with them. The more resistance he has even if he reaches a state where they want to kill each other as we read about the students of Rabbi Shimon, that does not matter. He is in this war to come closer to them.
S. We read in the last lesson as an ox to the burden and a donkey to the load, so they are asking what it means to us?
R. As an ox to the burden and the donkey to the load means we have to keep on going despite all of the questions and problems. Working as an ox means to have a burden, to go unto this burden and the donkey he carries the load, so they both need to be the donkey and the ox they have to always be working, that is their life. We should also take upon ourselves our life as an ox to the burden and a donkey to the load meaning that we are always concerned about us connecting more and more and this is how we come closer to the Creator.
38. S.(01:25:16 ) What is happening to us when we read the articles of Rabash that can lift us from all the descents, how do they work on us and are different from other Kabbalistic sources?
R. Reading them now because they specifically can direct us to connection and to the purpose of life, the purpose of creation. Whereas all the rest of the things will be more disconnected from what we now need to carry out. This is why we are concerned about always being immersed in the Articles of Rabash. As we were in my time when Rabash started writing these articles and he passed them to his students. We are going towards the same steps exactly.
39. S. (01:26:26) What was Rabash’s dream, what was his vision?
R. The dream and a vision was for us all to connect and that our connection would be unified so that we will all be that no one is more or less than the rest and then we will be this way. We will grow more, and the more we grow the tighter we will be to each other inside until we will start feeling the inclination between us inside, that we are close to each other, that we are connecting and becoming more and more like Adam HaRishon more and more until we come to one heart, as one man in one heart. And that is the final correction, Gmar Tikkun. According to the extent we rise meaning we connect more to each other, accordingly we will also feel ourselves more and more close to the Creator. When it turns out he’s connecting, when He is revealed in us more and more.
40. S. (01:28:11) Rabash determined very precise laws to anybody who wanted to study Kabbalah and today it seems like anyone can study Kabbalah no matter what his background is, why is it like that?
R. The Wisdom of Kabbalah was revealed to the children of Babylon in Babylon and they were completely unconnected to any Nation or certain heritage, they just wanted anyone to come and hear about connections between humans, love your friend as yourself, they came to Abraham and he taught them. From that the people of Israel was formed, Yashar Kel which is entirely only the connection between them and the Creator that is how they were taught. That is how Abraham taught them even in ancient Babylon thousands of years ago. From that came a group from all of the different Babylonians where all of humanity was at that time, from all the different nations, groups at the time.
From that a common group came out that was only thinking about how they can connect between themselves and become one special Nation that’s connected despite all of the differences, external differences between them. Black, white, red, yellow, everyone was equal though they were different externally and in their character and habits on the one hand. On the other hand they were all they all accepted that only the connection between them can lead them to a new form of humanity. This is how these people, this nation, this special group was made even though it exists for thousands and thousands of years, it still exists because it has a goal, and its goal is to reach a state of connection as one man and one heart and to draw the entire Humanity to that.
41. S. (01:31:09) Is the work of annulment in the ten does it exchange the work for the self-torments?
R. Yes of course, specifically the work of connection has replaced all these mortifications. You were supposed to eat only bread and salt, drink only water and lie on the floor and when you work on the Torah that is your merit. Meaning this covers everything, all these torments and limitations.
42. S. (01:31:54) What are the changes in Kabbalists and until Rabash, what is different than from our days and onward?
R. I don’t think we are already in this chain of Kabbalists. We are in the last generation, meaning that this is a group that will maybe keep on rolling for some time until it reaches its last and corrected form. We are basically the last ones if you could say so, it may take a few dozens of years, but I think it will end quickly and as the external actions of humanity, wars as Baal HaSulam says the third and fourth world wars may occur, and he says there are going to be nuclear and thus that will hasten human development.
S. How did Rabash get such a special language for writing such special Hebrew?
R. This was from his feeling from what is going on in the spiritual forces, so accordingly he passed it onto the spoken language.
43. S. (01:33:27) You said usually a son is not ready for great attainment after the father, in our generation what can a father do so his son will study Kabbalah?
R. I think that bringing the children whenever we are doing something together that’s one thing. Another is in our circles so that he will get to know his friends and open other recreational frameworks, we need teachers and people to organize that with the children. I think it is all in our hands and our centers are open for everyone, go ahead and have all of your activities here. If we are talking about different places in the world try to do that as well. If we are thinking about the next summer, maybe we will try it. It depends on the situation in the world, maybe we will try to have some summer camp, a world summer camp for children and you can come over with all of your children. Here they will get to know each other, and they will speak in all languages and learn all these things for a long time and will be happy. We should think about that, how to organize this but that we will certainly be happy.
44. S. (01:35:38) A student that has a mutual screen with the teacher, what responsibility does he have towards the group and towards the world?
R. A student that comes to have a common screen with the teacher, he already knows what to do. He has a screen and that is why he works as a messenger of the teacher to the friends to the students and this basically determines the way he appears.
45. S. (01:36:24) What did Rabash expect from you?
R. That is not something I cannot say but I hope that at least to a certain extent, at least to a certain extent I realize what he thought about me. At least in the fact that we have a big society of men, women and he think that at least, to a certain extent, in a careful way, that something is being realized of his dream.
S. If Rabash would be sitting with us right now what would he tell us?
R. That we should keep on advancing according to the principles he wrote. What can you do? He wrote the principles, and we have to according to these principles keep on going. We do not have anything to do, everything is open, everything is known only to connect as much as possible, and then what he wrote will become more clear to us as a result of the connection between us. One will start opening his writings and then we will know how and what to do and let us go and do that, we will attain, everything depends on us there is nothing to wait for. We are the ones who should always be first in the actions of connection between us and from the actions of connection between us we will already understand and attain everything. Okay?
47. S. (01:38:52) I heard that you told a lot about how flexible Rabash was, how he knew how to absorb new students, how he gave to the women, how can we be so flexible like him?
R. We should see every friend as he is above us. We should also examine each and every friend how much he disturbs or maybe he doesn’t for the connection in the group and to connect and realize ourselves more and more. Everything is revealed in the intensity of the connection internal and external. The main thing is the internal connection as one man with one heart, but the external connection is still in aid and a pressure for us to form the internal one as well.
48. S. (01:40:07) You said you used to record Rabash and sometimes we hear little fragments of it, and it is very inspiring, who was that for, maybe we should listen to it?
R. The things I’ve recorded are all in the archive, I do not own it anymore, it is under the control of the organization. You can use it even though I do not think that you will be able to find something new there. Because once he started writing he actually wrote what he spoke about previously in his articles. That is why you can hear it in parts here and there the things I recorded but the best for you will be to learn his articles. I am not sure that you are going to understand the way he pronounced the words. He had this short pronunciation he used to swallow words, but you can, you may.
49. S. (01:41:48) There is a very outstanding example of how to work in the ten, what will help us work in the ten when you used to speak about a motor when someone is up and someone is down, someone is resting. How can they reach from that state to a state and where someone is holding the paddle?
R. This is a work for each and every moment so you should always depict yourself as coming closer and closer, attaching yourself to this small circle and this is obligatory. Some don’t want to and some push it back, they are lazy, it doesn’t matter. You have to nonetheless keep on going, keep on going because the Creator is governing each and everyone. He is manipulating each and everyone. For some it is in the character or corporeal actions, in favor or against and this way or that way so through the external state a person has in his house and his workplace each and everyone. We need to certainly, despite that, at least a few times a day to establish ourselves in a way that we are close together, tight together. Even to imagine ourselves together physically and also internally. And certainly as it is written about the students of Rabbi Shimon, then the evil inclination immediately grows and increases the distance between us and we will bring ourselves closer again to each other. And that is how it is until we will reach an intensity of connection that is sufficient. The first amount of connection inside, externally there is a rejection, that is called the first spiritual degree with the coarseness and with a rejection and the screen and reflected lights so that we do connect above this coarseness.
50. S. (01:44:37) When you were answering the women you said that the third and fourth world war will speed up the development of humanity, how could that be?
R. No I do not think that this is the way it’s going to happen so don’t start imagining what you imagine now. I think the main thing about these wars, it will be wars of fear, meaning that these wars will bring us fear and the recognition of the end of the corporeal way. We have nothing to do in this world anymore. We have to pass on to a different kind of reality. We can call it spiritual where everything depends on our internal connection and how close we want to be to each other and how we want to pass on to each other a more upper degree of existence. That is why the third and fourth world wars I think this will be something short, as some sort of fear evoking. Maybe one explosion somewhere and no more and from that everyone will be despaired and from the advancement of the corporeal development they will start running after money, honor and they will understand that the main thing is to live and to rise to degrees of spiritual connection.
S. It turns out that humanity is constantly revolving around the same circle because every time a new record, and new Reshimot shows up and they don’t remember what happened yesterday and they make the same mistakes. Also first we do and then we think, so how can you advance without understanding what is going on and just fighting and reaching conclusions?
R. Let’s hope now it will be different, this time it will be different. First of all we understand today and everyone understands that we are really silly going into the same problems again and again. All these mistakes that we have done in the first and second world war we might have now a third world war. But we already see and understand, and we feel that we must not do that. That is why I think that if some explosion will occur in this third world war that we’re talking about and if we’re talking about the fourth, it will be like a symbol, a sign for us all to understand that there is no development in such a direction. I really hope that it will only take place in a very restricted manner on the one hand, on the other hand it seems that it must take place otherwise we will not be able to shake Humanity so that it will start taking upon itself the new methods of development, development towards connection. That is why I think that maybe, if there would be an atom bomb exploding as Baal HaSulam says, it will only be in order to show everyone what it might be, not that it would really cause a big loss to humanity. Humanity needs to go through such states so that it will understand and feel the great suffering that it can cause to itself and now by this war between Russia and Ukraine, it is a very good example for these two Nations how much this struggle, this fight is really needless. We have to stop it and never go into it again.
51. S. (01:50:00) We see as much as Rabash and Baal HaSulam and you, were trying to strip the Wisdom from external wrappings in customs and habits but still make it relevant. Also for the religious people and also for the secular people and how complicated it is, it becomes more complicated with the years. We see how the Wisdom is expanding in Israel and in the world and how it is confusing and how hard it was even for you to explain in the beginning of this first quote and how Rabash got the qualification. We see how confusing it is for students to understand, whether religious or secular something is not connecting there and there is a feeling that they were able to do it and you are able to do it, and I just want to know how will we know how to balance, how to be able to connect and will this ever work out? It looks like there’s something that can’t drip down, not to this audience and not to that audience, because of the difficulty that has accumulated throughout the years?
R. We need to cleanse this Wisdom from everything that was there before, everything that is stuck to it throughout the years. Not in external actions and not in inner confusion and only to leave what we need for connection. Because except for connection to return to the system of Adam HaRishon we do not need anything. That is why even something that is restricted and clear and that is why it is difficult because it is so clear. That you have to do it against the ego and even though there’s an ego it can be done against the ego, and even though if we do it together, that is why everything depends on dissemination. As much as everyone will know that this is the path of correction, that as much as they know that we cannot reach the correction of the world with any other path, and only in that way we have to behave, only in that way. That is why, let’s hope we do it. I think that this group, we are taking a big step ahead, that we are stripping ourselves of almost all religious and external symbols that belong to the masses and want to adhere only to the connection in the hearts, connection of the souls into one soul. That is why it seems to me that we are taking a huge step towards that.
52. S. (01:54:13) Do you see ordinary people who do not know the wisdom, deeply explain to us the process of how we are broken and going into one soul?
R. We need to write books like we write for children about the development of humanity, and afterwards on the development of the souls. Meaning our inner connection and external connection how it should bring us to the internal connection. This is something that we have to write about in a very simple way, like in the big books that we buy for children. I don’t know if you can draw anything in there but it has to be in a very clear way, this is what is before us. Like children, we need to learn what we should do in order to be big and that is why we are writing this book. You know a big book, colorful and inside it has to be clear of what we need to do. How we connect and through that connection what do we attain. One desire in each and every person there’s a desire that’s called a heart, and our hearts connect into one, and as much as they connect, to that extent we start feeling a special force in that special heart that is called Creator. We are making Him, we are building Him, we are revealing and feeling Him and upon that we have to reach, and afterwards we want to tell about it. Write it. More than such a book we do not need anything because we will discover the rest on the path on our own.
53. S. (01:56:55) What is the main thing, the main advice that you took from Rabash for spiritual work?
R. That I’m not missing out on any lesson no matter what, no, cannot be, no such thing. I used to come from Rehovot in all kinds of ways, there were very rainy winters and the car was not great and it used to stall on the way and at night you could not get any rides. There were all kinds of difficulties but I knew that I had to get out of my house and drive and come to study. And I wanted to move there right away and be next to him and to live with Rabash. But he didn’t let me, he did not allow it. He said no, maybe in two more years you should live in Rehovot. What, I have nothing there, I can be here.
He said no, it is good that you drive, and I drove every day and it was right for me. I invested a lot of time, nerves, and money and thought how I had to go at night again, and what was going to happen until I changed my car and even the new car was not so great. And I understood that it was not about the car but the burdening of the heart that has to come and that is how I used to show up and in this way I came. Back then I don’t think there was anything easier for me to do than what you are doing today but I respect this exertion. That a person comes to a lesson from far away and understands how much it adds for him in his exertion.
54. S. (01:59:52) To continue Rabash’s vision, for looking forward, what does the wisdom of Kabbalah give people?
R. Recognition of the Creator, knowing him. Knowing the Creator the upper force.
S. Okay, so I heard about him. I’m making things difficult on purpose because today people are looking for development to become good.
making things difficult because people are looking for…
R. But you need to know the upper force that you are 100% dependent on. Some kind of force that you need to succeed in life. It is the upper force that sustains all of your life, in all of your history, what you had and what will be. That is what the wisdom of Kabbalah gives you, control over time.
S. It sounds like very big things
R. But it’s really that.
S. It sounds almost like a fantasy.
R. For now yes, because it is far from us but when we advance towards it and come closer to it to it so the matter of time, space, motion, reach a state of one simple point of revelation of the Creator and in that revelation we reveal everything.
S. From the other side, what does it mean for an ordinary person not a student of Bnei Baruch. An ordinary person, what does it mean to be a Kabbalist?
R. That everyone will know me from small to big.
S. What does it mean in their daily life? if I’m a philosopher. What does it mean for a certain, simple person?
R. It means to live in a whole and complete connection with the Creator. The one force that stands before you, that you are in contact with and in that way you exist. In this world. without this world, it doesn’t matter. It is like you take off your clothes off at night and go to sleep and in a day you wash yourself and change with new clothes.
S. During the day, as a person who wants to reach what you are talking about, does it mean that I have to be connected to think about something about something? Is it practical advice for life?
R. You feel the whole world in yourself like you feel now a part of the world inside and then you can think about it and speak to him and so on and in that way you feel all of reality. You feel all of reality inside, all galaxies and everything above it and you feel all of those distortions you have in the corporeal perception of reality and above it everything in spiritual perception. You sense everything.
S. The work is in the emotion and in the thought?
R. The work is in you discovering the actions of the upper force that conducts everything and fills everything.
S. How do I do it?
R. You don’t do it, you exist in it.
S. How do I exist in it? I want to be there?
R. You still do not have the senses. You have to uplift above your will to receive and then you will start acquiring that reality, the upper reality in the 125 degrees until you know it in wholeness.
S. I’m going back to the ordinary person that wants to be there, is it something that he has to learn to do, to think about? What does it mean to be?
R. The main thing is to uplift against your ego. The method is to connect to the friends.
S. It has to go back, so even for an ordinary person it has to go to the connection even if people are pushed away from it, it has to go back?
R. They can’t come back to that, nobody can.
S. Basically it’s a way to show you how to connect to work and connect and feel it?
R. Yes, yes, specifically when you work against the desire, against your mind and every heartbeat you start feeling as much as it is important for you more and more to adhere to them. Because by this you lose yourself as much as I come closer to the friend, in every step I come closer and , closer, the more I forget about myself, that I lose myself I really enter a state where it is the Creator and not me and my ego.
S. Humanity right now the self is the most important thing and we’re talking about losing it?
R. Let’s hope that through all kinds of means and including a World War, humanity will understand that they need to get rid of that self as soon as possible which causes all that evil.
S. To be this way in Bnei Baruch and in this way have to be like Rabash and to be like you?
R. No, you’re going to be a lot greater than us, a lot bigger. Every generation will be greater than the previous one. Now you are in the state, that you’re in the worst state but when you rise you will rise to a great state. There are a few more things in that, by this you are also pushing the previous generation higher and higher. Until we all become a circle, or a sphere.
S. We should aspire to be the organizers of this, or the teachers for this. What word should we use?
R. We need to organize the end of correction Gmar Tikkun ,everything should be in a round, a sphere for the most complete form.
55. S. (02:07:16) How can we also reach such a connection with Rabash as well so that we can feel that he is accompanying us and always leading us?
R. Through the connection between us. We cannot feel the upper one if we do not connect. the law in spiritual attainment that if ten individuals connect on their lower degree. They by this are equal to 1 degree or one connection in the higher degree ten to connect are equal to one of the upper one. Then there, when they enter there they discover ten and then they discover that ten has more one than one man and one heart and then they attain again a higher degree. The intensity of one so ten becomes one, ten becomes, one ten becomes one. That is how we go from one degree to the next.
56. S. (02:08:44) You drove an hour to the morning lesson, you also moved closer to be with Rabash and you left your business and you exerted a lot. Is this exertion also require today or is this exertion changed in these times?
R. Today it’s not so crucial. Today we have the internet, and everyone has cars. But still to live so close together and to connect together during the week is good. That is a good thing. I’m really for it. I’m happy at least that we have this one meal. That we call the Hummus meal, not such a respectable name, but let’s say. I want to have a few more of those during the week and that there will be more activities for kids and women. There is room and a place for men to connect this whole building, let it live its life. That’s through the day I go from one end to the other and I see that it is mostly empty and I feel sorry for it, it hurts. I like to see you as much as possible here except for the essential hours for work at home. The groups are invited here to connect here and the kids of course and the women. I’m really for the connection to be as much as broad for the masses. Let’s hope we will reach it.
57. S. (02:11:26) We are saying that we have to disseminate the only connection. On the other hand we are saying that if the connection is correct the connection of righteous is good for them and for the work the connection of the wicked harms them in the world. around what? What should we show the simple people what point would be the connection so that it will be connection over righteousness?
R. I think that mutual help should first of all stand out from such connections. That people connect. First of all they are concerned that their connection will be as Good that Does Good for all of their society and also around them to societies around them and then from that they can connect and grow bigger and in this way to advance.
S. Meaning this connection for certain common good, in the future there is no Creator there
R. No it cannot be that the Creator, the one unique upper force that determines everything that is nature. Can you come out of nature’s framework? No, so the Creator is nature, so don’t draw him in a different way because then obviously you will be limited. We need to understand that we have nothing else to do except the broad mutual connection between everybody until we annul all of the limits between us, all the borders between us that there are no nations, no countries and it all becomes as one man with one heart. We still need to aim for that. Ok? I am sure that this is how it will gradually happen because humanity is coming closer to it. Also through understanding and dissemination and also through suffering so these and those all need to bring us to the right decision.
58. S. (02:14:39) Today we are mentioning the day when Rabash passed away. I wanted to ask; how did you prepare yourself for this moment where your teacher departs?
R. I was constantly besides him. Thirty years, till today it has been 40 years. I knew all of his states, his condition, everything that happened with his body, his health. He also died in my hands and then I called the doctors. I have nothing to say. It was a very dramatic event externally and internally I don’t even want to mention how much, that is it.
S. I will say the place I am asking for. Can a student prepare himself for such a moment when the teacher leaves?
R. Yes, we need to prepare ourselves today for a state when you will be independent and you will know the right way to organize and manage our world BB system and it has to be in such a way that I will not receive everyday a few emails with questions that don’t belong to me and that I will only appear in the lessons and after all I’m gone there is an archive and a lot of people who can give the lessons and you will just get going. Also now we can start doing it and think about how to give the lessons along with me.
S. I wanted to ask about the ability of a student to reflect about what he gets from his teacher at the moment because when we are looking for sources from Rabash and when we hear your words we can see the same language ,the same way you speak, it is exactly the same. How did such a thing happen that you were able to pass on to be a conduit to your teacher with respect to the students.
R. I think it is for two reasons. One is that my Hebrew is not my mother tongue. That is why I cannot be as fluent in Hebrew in a different style except for Rabash. Actually, what did I have? I worked in the army and I was in contact with the soldiers, so the style of my speech you can understand what kind. I used to say such words that people looked at me and did not understand that a person seems intelligent and gentle, and he speaks such words and afterwards I knew, I found that it was not proper to say these kinds of words. That is why my style is similar to Rabash except for most of the hours of the day I used to talk to him. I spoke to him at least eight hours a day, even more if it was with the lessons. Ten or eleven hours a day I was speaking to him, I was beside him. Where else could I take my style of speaking, obviously from him. That is it but that is not important. That does not point to any greatness, the main thing is from the heart. To learn how to say a few words and that is it.
58. S. (02:20:17) I will explain the place from where I’m asking. I never see that you are trying to give something special to yourself. You always say to go look at what Rabbah wrote. To look at the source. You always say look at the source. That is the part that I am unclear about. How can we strengthen it every time more and more? That is the point I’m trying to make.
R. I don’t see what else I can add except for a few sentences about science and politics. Other than that what else could I add? Baal HaSulam and Rabash did everything. They did everything. Of course there’s more and more details in reality that they did not express but actually the foundations, in general, they are all there.
59. S. (02:21:31) We think that you add a lot and from you we can feel Rabash and through you we can feel and experience Rabash. It is a very nice addition that you gave, and we are looking for our addition. What can we your children add to the path that you are showing us?
R. Your addition mainly is the connection in the ten, the innovation that is your turn. That is your duty to do. Connection in the tens and then connection between the Tens and more and more inclusive Ten until everyone becomes one man with one heart.
We will try not to separate from our dear teacher Baruch HaLevi Ashlag who will always live among us and let’s try and become worthy to be under his feet.
