Going Above Arguments with the Will to Receive – Selected Excerpts from the Sources
1. Rav’s Introduction: Yes, this is very important to know how we get along with our will to receive on the one hand the Creator must make us greater to his height, this means that he needs to increase within us the will to receive which is the opposite of him. So that’s it, we will feel ourselves how much we are opposite of the Creator and along with that, we will be able to tie ourselves above our will to receive with him, with the Creator. Then we are Incorporated with the greatest will to receive and above it the greatest will to bestow and then that we will resemble the Creator. Therefore the whole progress is above the will to receive. Along the way we have to go through shattering, the recognition of the shattering, the correction of various kinds of different states but all in all, the work is simple, constantly try to be above our will to receive. That is it. Because it grows in order for us to rise above, to cover it and then in such a relation to the will to receive we have resembled the Creator. This is actually our entire correction, the whole process that we have to go through and therefore we should also not hate the will to receive but rather understand it, feel it, relate to it with understanding that it specifically is the force that shows us how much we are opposite of the Creator and how much in that we can also resemble the Creator. Therefore even it is called help against, as it is written that it is not good for man to be alone so we will create for him help against him and that’s help against him, it is called Malchut, Chava, Eve, something which is opposite to the will to bestow and therefore each and every person who is corrected includes within him to forces the force of reception and above it the force of bestowal and this is how we should try to constantly maintain ourselves so we are Incorporated of the two forces. We cannot have one without the other and to advance in this way we cannot have one without the other, we cannot have the good force, which is more than the negative force, the bad force, because we can reach the good force only after we have the evil and we get to know the evil, we fill it. This is called the recognition of evil and afterwards we then reach the necessity to be equipped with the good force above the evil, this is called love covers all crimes. This is what we will study together with these parts, we talked about if here and there but here it comes to us in a concentrated manner, so go ahead and ask this is an important topic, this is our daily work. We will go forward, and this way and we will succeed, this work is very desirable in the eyes of the Creator because actually by this we build ourselves in connecting and adhering and adapting to him.
2. S. (04:58) Why then do we need to maintain both? Why can we just cancel one of the forces?
R. How can you cancel the bad force then in what way will you be good?
S. By canceling the bad force.
R. So you need to have that bad force over which you cover it, and you make good, where do you build the good from you don’t receive from the Creator the good force. You can get from the Creator only this force that will cover the bad and will turn it into good, it will make a cover above it. Maybe speaking in a way that it is not very clear because we cannot, we cannot be the Creator, we need to be like the Creator and therefore what the Creator did, he created the evil inclination, the opposite of himself truly the opposite and we over this oppositeness. We need to bring the good force, it is only the cover, only the intention to bestow and then in such a way we will be similar to him, similar, not him but similar to him.
S. What is canceled and what remains in this process from the will to receive?
R. From the will to receive nothing is canceled, if something would be canceled then we will not be able to resemble the Creator 100%, this is considered we will never return to him, we will never be similar to him. Rather what the Creator did he made the evil inclination precisely like the good inclination that he has, the Creator himself and so then we need only to correct this bad, this evil with the intention to bestow and then it will be good, we will be like the Creator, we would be Adam, resembling the Creator.
S. So still something there is canceled otherwise what is called correction?
R. Correction is that in the will to receive we have the desire to enjoy but we have an intention to receive for oneself, this for oneself, this is exactly the evil inclination. We invert it in order to be in order to bestow we want all of our desires to be in order to bestow to the Creator, so the desire remains to the desire, the desire to enjoy but in order for whom, for what purpose? This is what changes.
S. So when we say we have to maintain that will to receive and keep both of them what do we mean?
R. We mean the desire itself, so we don’t change the desire, we cannot change the desire just the usage, that is what we change. That if there was a will to receive for my pleasure for myself that we try through the society through the force that I get from above to invert it to be in order to bestow to the Creator.
S. Help against made against, what is it, the desire itself or the intention for self?
R. The intention, that desire does not change it is a desire to enjoy but what for? For what purpose? For myself or for the Creator?
3. S. (09:21) On the one hand you have to love the ego as fuel for progress on the other hand it says the Creator hates the body, so?
R. The Creator hates the intention to receive, hate means it’s the opposite of what he has, he has the intention to bestow, he is entirely to bestow. The Creator has the desire to bestow so we don’t know what the desire to bestow is, we are the will to receive, we were, we are and we will be a will to receive and the desire to enjoy. However we can change what is the purpose for which we are enjoying, for myself or for the benefit of the Creator. In order to reach enjoying for the Creator so we have between us, between us and the Creator, between these two points between them in the middle of the broken vessel. We are going to learn about this vessel, how can we enjoy himself, myself in order to do good for the others and then this world was created with all of the relations we have between us, with people who give birth to children and through that they can learn what does it mean to bestow. They depend on each other so they can also learn what does it mean to bestow to others in the corporeal way and this way bit by bit we come closer to these concepts. What does it mean to bestow?
4. S. (11:15) What is the essence of the help in the process of correction?
R. That the will to receive feels that the quality of bestowal exists opposite it, that it is opposite of it and then it wants to remain inside of itself with its will to receive and with its intention to delight itself. Now it seems that it has a force that is standing opposite of him and can give him the ability to enjoy but not for himself but for others, through the friends to the Creator. We will go over all of these things.
5. S. (12:23) Turns out that the more will to receive is greater the more the potential I have to bestow to the Creator I left say maybe not me but the great they have much more potential, but the question is how to use without the knowledge how to bestow the potential is worthless?
R. That’s true but you should know those who engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah, who are drawn to the study, to the group they have the greatest will to receive. The people who are on the street, they want to kill each other or to steal and all kinds of things they have a small will to receive, the greatest will to receive is in those who engage or are drawn to engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah, you are the greatest criminals in the world.
S. Can it be used somehow in dissemination? I don’t know how this can be used?
R. We will talk about dissemination later. First you need to think of yourselves.
6. S. (13:57) The arguments with the evil inclination after crossing the barrier, how does the argument with the will to receive change after crossing the barrier?
R. It remains as it is until the end of correction because until the end of correction the will to receive awakens in the person each time greater and greater, a new desire and he has to bring it to the form of the bestowal and he has to achieve to attain the opposite force and work in that way between his will to receive and in order to bestow which he prays for and he gets from the outside.
7. S. (14:55) How do I transform the will to receive through my relations with the friends?
R. You work together, you speak together about how do we rise above the will to receive, more correctly above the intention to receive and we want to reach the intention to bestow. We talked about how do we feel inside that we are in order to bestow what does it happen to us, what does it mean in order to bestow? In the people in the relations between us how do we discover it? We scrutinize all of these things between us.
8. S. (16:08) What does it mean not to hate my will to receive?
R. The will to receive is not at fault, it’s what the Creator has created and in the will to receive there is nothing that is bad, we just speak in a way that is imprecise, this evil is in order to receive in the intention above the will to receive. The will to receive you cannot demand it, you cannot break it, you cannot do anything with it. The desire was created, and this is how it will exist, it is just the intention within the will to receive, that it wants to enjoy for itself words to delight someone, to enjoy from bestowing to someone even though it is a will to receive but above itself it can bestow to others. The others could be the friends, it could be the entire vessel, the whole of the humanity or the Creator but the will to receive feels is outside of itself. So we need to position ourselves in such a way that it will be clear to us where are we, what is outside of me, the friends, humanity, the Creator and how do I relate to them.
I learn how to relate to the Creator in bestowal. The Creator does not exist as we learned already, we talked a lot about it, he does not exist we with respect to the created being as much as the created being begins to receive, to accept the friends who are outside of him, as much as he accepts them like himself, as much as he loves them, connects with them, then he feels that indeed these are not friends. They are not people, humanity, or nature, but it is the Creator, and he discovers the Creator through that. What can this be similar to that a person passes the emotion that he has of himself, his ego, his emotion, or himself, if he shifts that to others outside of himself then by that he gradually begins to feel the force of bestowal that he is establishing and to whom is he establishing it. This is how the Creator appears from lack of sensation to sensation, as much as I relate to others with my force of bestowal I begin to see in the others the Creator.
S. By taking the emotion towards myself and directing it towards the friends that is correction?
R. Yes.
9. S. (19:43) Where I want to get more money or gold medal and that used to be filled by that, now I’m filled to do good to others and I want them to be better off and that we all will be just one, is that the correct picture?
R. Yes.
Reading Item #1 (20:15)
10. R. (20:43) Tree of knowledge is instead of in order to bestow he has an intention in order to receive over all actions that he makes, he always does things for himself, this is how we were born.
Continues (21:00)
11. R. (21:09) But if he tries to do something in order to bestow he has no taste in it, he has no power, nothing, he can only do it under pressure out of necessity.
Continues (21:25)
12. R. (21:30) In other words, the greatness of the Creator it is in the dust means mainly there is no interest in theat.
Continues (21:48)
13. R. (22:35) This is a great rule, a very important one not to stand opposite the will to receive and try to fight against it, try to break it. This is an entirely incorrect action; we can never defeat our will to receive, and we don’t need to. The Creator created it not in order for us to break it, rise above it, to dance above it, no. But in order for us to discover how weak we are, opposite the will to receive and ask him, the Creator, that he will elevate us above it. This actually is all we have to do, it is just our work needs to be persistent, consistent, the person with himself, with his will to receive, with his friends, with the will to receive of the group and to the Creator. All in all our work should end each time that we ask of the Creator that he will help us, that he will correct our will to bestow to make it greater and greater upon the will to receive.
14. S. (24:06) Wanted to focus on this state. It turns out that I have to treat my life where it’s like an animal, never argue with the will to receive, have a schedule, wake up for the preparation, don’t think too much, gathering of friends, without thinking I just come. If everything works according to the schedule like that and I don’t argue where does the prayer come from?
R. The prayer shouldn’t be in that I keep it, or I don’t keep it, the prayer should be in the favor of what am I doing it for, my intention. What am I doing it for? That I’m doing it in order to bestow contentment to the Creator. This is what the prayer should be for. We need to put together a prayer, we need to put together the intention, the intention. The desire we cannot change it and therefore what is upon us is to have the desire with the right intention. All in all the Creator broke the desires, you know why? He broke a single will to receive into many desires in order for us to be able to correct each and every desire separately. Afterwards there is an action called Rav Pealim Mekabtziel, that all of these desires that we have corrected throughout our whole life and all of our incarnations and all of us, each one of us in his life, in his corrections, all of this comes together, and this is how we reach the general correction.
S. If I already argued and lost, can I throw that into the ten?
R. Our work is that we are constantly asking for corrections for our intentions, that is all. The correction of the intention is first of all between the friends, that we will be as one with the common intention and then from it to the Creator.
15. S. (26:45) It says we can’t speak but we return speak with the will to receive but we always do during a descent, you know your friends won’t understand you, your relatives won’t understand you, you think this dialogue helps you?
R. That’s good go ahead talk to him. There is none as wise as they experienced one, try to do what it says in the books, by this you will save a lot of time, agitation, and exertion.
16. S. (27:29) Who am I and who is my will to receive? It seems like it is really two entities in one?
R. That is true my will to receive is the desire that exists inside of me. I need to distinguish between the desire and the intention above the desire and I am on the side, the someone who, the Creator gave me a certain point like a judge, that I observe, I look, this is my will to receive, this is my intention and the intention desire results over the will to receive in the compels it to do this and that, invert my intention of in order to receive to in order to bestow is only by turning to the Creator. We can turn to the Creator only on the condition that I try to do it in the society in the group and they see that I do not succeed and then with this whole bitter feeling, this bitter feeling, I turn to the Creator.
S. So that I am an entity of itself in the will to receive is in of itself?
R. Yes, you want to differentiate between I and the will to receive.
S. What does it mean I wanted to differentiate; I am myself?
R. I don’t know what I myself am, what does it mean, myself, I?
S. Myself is neither created being called me and I have the will to receive?
R. Yes that is true, so you’re asking of the Creator that he will add to your will to receive the intention to bestow.
S. Then what?
R. Then your desire will be in order to bestow, by that you would resemble the Creator, it is just the Creator has the will to bestow in his self and for you, you have the will to receive because you are the created being but with the intentions in order to bestow that you received from the Creator, it is called the Godly part from above.
17. S. (30:13) A question about intentions on the point in the heart, would it be proper for us to say that the point in the heart is the use of the intention and by us continuing to use the point in the heart that directs the intentions so it can strengthen the connection with the Creator so he can correct the desire is that a proper way that we can define the point in the heart, intentions?
R. Precisely. Correct.
18. S. (30:57) If the work to receive defeats us every time we act against it, why is it so hard for us to admit our helplessness towards it?
R. I don’t understand the question, the will to receive grows in this in order for us to compose above it the intention to bestow, we’re not going to break the will to receive, we don’t fight against the will to receive, we try to wrap it with intention to bestow. That’s all, just like the spiritual Partzuf that we learn about its coarseness but above the coarseness there was restriction and screen and reflected light and then that it resembles the Creator as the Creator wants to bestow to it, it wants to bestow to the Creator. What does it bestow to the Creator and using its will to receive in the intention to bestow so we can receive in order to bestow like the guest and the host.
19. S. (32:18) In this article what does Rabash warn us about? What does it even mean to argue with the will to receive?
R. That we should not behave against the will to receive but against the intention to receive.
20. S. (32:48) Follows that for every action we should build an intention in the ten we already had a discussion, that’s for instance the lesson we receive some attention from it for the day and how to make the right calculation each time to renew the intention?
R. You should think all the time, how do you hold each other, each one holding everyone in the ten so we will not forget our intentions should connect between us and bestow to the Creator and then if we will not forget about that, if you will hold on to that intention then we will succeed very quickly.
21. S. (33:50) Why is it so difficult to identify what is the intention, if it is the only thing we need to change, and we cannot see it?
R. Because it resides over our egoistic will to receive that’s why it is difficult for us to cope with it to change our actions so it will be not for ourselves but for others, it is not that it is difficult we’re not capable of doing it, but rather when we will try and try to do it, we will reach despair. Later on the decision that if such an aversion were to take place it can happen only by the Creator doing it and then we turn to the Creator and cry out to him that he will help us invert the will to receive to be in order to bestow and then he does it.
22. S. (35:11) I have many desires that push me out of the path raising temptations in me, I’m not supposed to resist them?
R. The desires themselves they don’t matter, you check the intention, are your intentions in order to receive? Try to live in the intentions not in the desires, and then you will feel how much this elevates you above your nature. Even in order to receive when you think about it you will identify with the intentions not with the desires. The desires has come from the Creator, the intentions the created being needs to acquire.
S. So how do I distinguish it? How do I identify my intention in my present will to receive?
R. For whom am I doing it?
S. So wait a minute, it’s always to myself, the intention.
R. So then you have a room for prayer. You have already discovered in this way that you are not okay, that your intention is wrong, not the desire. The desires comes from above, this is from the shattering, the desires the Creator created. He created one desire than he broke it, but the intention, those intentions you have to detect them and see how they are all in order to receive for yourself and then ask of the Creator that He will help you to invert them.
S. What causes the will to receive or the intention to receive to drag me into an argument?
R. Because it’s yours, this desire it’s yours. The will to receive grows a little bit with the intention in order to receive and then you are in it, it controls you.
S. Is there a way to prevent the argument or it’s natural, it has to be?
R. It’s on the condition that you like a baby grab hold of the mother, attach to the mother in this way, like monkeys, that is how they hold on. The little monkey holds on to its mother, so if in such a way you hold onto the ten.
23. S. (37:53) Continuing the question of the friend: What relation is there between what a friend does and trying to invert the intention?
R. If you try to be together with the friend advancing toward spirituality, in such a way you connect your powers, your prayer even if you don’t talk about it, it’s inside, it’s internal. By that, each one has twofold of his force even more. It’s twofold and more because there’s also ego between you, your will to receive is different. Therefore, you multiply yourselves and then you turn to the Creator, and the Creator hears because it’s two forces wanting to connect and be together in bestowing to Him. So that’s already useful, and that is true prayer.
24. S. (39:26) It is still not clear to me who is the I? Meaning the will to receive was created by the Creator, you took on a certain intention but who is this I that conducts itself between the will to receive with this intention and will to receive with that intention? Who is the I?
R. The I am the will to receive. After that we will discover the point in the heart.
25. S. (40:05) In the excerpt we read that he has to ask of the Creator to help him, that He will give the person forces to overcome himself. It says here that I need to get powers, forces for myself, so how do I aim it towards others?
R. You pray for the friend, but how can you pray for him? That you want to connect with him and together with him make an action of bestowing to the Creator. This is called one who prays for his friend is awarded first. That first you receive the strength from above, then you pass it on to the friend, then you both connect together and act towards the Creator.
S. Does the Creator always give us an opportunity to help their friends in every state?
R. Yes, maybe we don’t understand it, but he always gives.
26. S. (41:27) The work that you now described of being in the intention above the will to receive, is it the same work in which we build the Arvut?
R. Yes, that is all our work, what we’re talking about now until the final correction. Conditions are changing but the work is actually this.
S. You said in one of the lessons that the Creator is revealed when the friends reach Arvut, and they complete each other. What does it mean to complete each other?
R. To help each other.
27. S. (42:22) Can we make it more precise? It says here what is that state of the poor that he talks about and what is that overcoming that we get from the Creator?
R. That I always find myself in a form that is more and more opposite to connection and to the Creator.
28. S. (42:47) How to interpret the state where we don’t feel any intention to receive?
R. That’s the shattering, we are results from the shattering. Therefore we only feel intentions to receive and not to bestow. Because these are intentions to receive and we have no comparison to make with something opposite, we don’t even feel it’s an intention to receive, it’s just our intention that is how it works. Meaning that for us it is certainly built that way, that it is for ourselves. That’s how we’re born, that’s how we evolved, that’s how we start our lives. The spiritual life too begins from discovering how much we are in order to receive.
29. S. (44:21) We are talking about the fact that we don’t pay attention to the will to receive, we build an intention. But when we try to build an intention to be incorporated with a friend in order to feel them or to be incorporated in the Creator then the will to receive disappears by itself.
R. It doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter. We need the will to receive only in order to have an intention to bestow on top of it. The desires they come from the Creator, and they appear in us in ways we do not determine, what the Creator reveals is what we’ve got. What is important is how do I use the desire the Creator has given me? The Creator renews the act of Genesis every day as it’s called, meaning each and every moment I have new desires and I have to try to install in each and every one, gradually an intention to bestow to the host. Whatever the host gives me I say thank you and I try to use what I get from Him in order to bestow contentment to Him.
S. This is what it’s all about. Everything the Creator gives me I say thank you, thanks, I don’t want this I want to love you.
R. How do you do that? By receiving the desires for all that He has given to you, all this world He gave to you. Ultimately you have to receive that in order to bestow to Him. So you bless Him for everything so that by your attitude to the world and to everyone you want to bring Him contentment. How do you bring him contentment? By that with everything you receive from the Creator with whatever you are you use it in order to bestow to everyone.
S. Until I have the power of the screen I cannot receive something not for myself?
R. Ask. Ask, what’s the problem?
S. no translation 46:52
R. No right now, where are you going? Right now start asking.
S. But right now in order to ask for the force of the screen what are you asking for really? You asking to feel Him, to love Him or to use the will to receive? What are you asking?
R. You are asking for the force of bestowal to bring contentment to the Creator, not in order to love Him that’s an egoistic request but rather you want to bestow contentment to the Creator. So you’re talking about the intention not the desire. Intention, that’s it. How can I bestow contentment to the Creator? I see I don’t have that. How will I bestow to him? Oh, and suddenly I begin to see that besides me and the Creator there is humanity or the friends at least which He created, it’s His. So if bestow to them by that I can bestow contentment to the Creator. So it becomes worthwhile for me to bestow to them as much as I feel in my heart that it improves and starts loving the friends. I have to be certain here that the Creator enjoys me, am I bestowing contentment or not. So now I understand why it’s called from the love of the created being to the love of the Creator.
S. This is all clear, dear Rav, what is not clear is how my will to receive is related to this, it’s not part of this picture.
R. Without the will to receive you would feel nothing. But we are talking about the intention over the will to receive. What do you want to attain by specific use of the will to receive?
30. S. (49:34) Can we reach a state where we have control, meaning there is revelation, the first reaction is in the will to receive and then I manage to restrain myself and respond with the intention to bestow somehow?
R. Yes.
31. S. (49:59) If a desire awakens in me which is opposite of the Creator, the opposite of the connection how do I aim it to be for the Creator?
R. It all depends on importance. if you want to bestow to the Creator you have all the possibilities to do it. If you want to bestow to the friends you also have all the possibilities, and also to yourself. So think what you should do in your life in order to achieve this identification with the Creator.
Reading Item 2 (50:52)
32. R. (52:00) Yes, this is what we should know again and again, not to leave but like little kids that want and want and want. An adult would fall into despair a thousand times already but a child if he wants something he nags, pushes, and asks and ultimately that’s the only way we can succeed. So the Creator gives a good power to children, so they advance and learn in life, and we have to do the same in the spiritual action.
Reading Item 2 (52:43)
33. S. (53:48) If the desire comes which is the opposite of the path, let’s say that I want to get rich, is this a sign that I didn’t work enough to come closer to the friends?
R. It’s not a sign for anything. It’s a sign that now you need to work on this desire to make it a desire to get rich in order to bestow, that’s the sign. That you need to examine how do you work with this desire in order to bestow. Each and every desire that appears you have to check whether it’s on the path, whether it leads you to the goal of life and work with it accordingly.
34. S. (55:10) How can we intensify, increase but not by coercion?
R. We cannot advance without coercion. We have to each time determine to ourselves more and more actions and states that are all aimed at connection and towards in order to bestow. So in that respect it is really coercion, but we can’t actually coerce ourselves, we’re asking the Creator to do this work. The truth is that spiritual work is not hard work we only have to ask.
35. S. (56:12) Can you repeat, who is responsible for the coercion? What is this action of adding powers coercively?
R. I am asking the Creator to cover my will to receive with an intention to bestow. So that He does it in different forms I don’t mind, and it doesn’t matter to what extent, He knows better what to do. I only ask for that. I have desires to receive, these desires always unfold in me to a greater and greater and greater extent. Accordingly, I feel intentions to receive on them that are greater and greater, and I ask Creator to correct my intentions, not the will to receive but the intention over the will to receive so that it is always in order to bestow, that is what I’m asking.
S. So the habit is in the request and not the result?
R. The habit is the request, that I make myself accustomed to asking, praying.
Reading Item 3 twice (58:12)
36. S. (59:49) Above reason, it is something that is more suitable against the will to receive or against the intention?
R. We’re always talking about the intention not the desire, we have nothing to say about the desire. We are always in the desire to receive we cannot escape it, otherwise we disappear, everyone will just be gone. There is a state of existence, and we exist within the will to receive. If we left the will to receive we would just completely disappear. There is no created being that is not from a will to receive, that is just the Creator which is the will to bestow.
37. S. (01:00:57) How do we hold on to a state where a person decides to go above his will to receive but he doesn’t yet have the strength?
R. Above his will to receive means above the intention to receive, this is very important. Today we’re being meticulous and accurate about this, from now on. That we are talking about the intention.
S. So how do we hold on to a state where a person decides to go above his intention to receive but he doesn’t yet have strength to do this? It seems to be like an intermediate state.
R. Yes, of course, because if not in order to receive he has no strength because that’s how he evolved and developed to this state. So what to do?
S. How to hold on in such states?
R. Prayer. There is nothing else to do there is no power that you have, just prayer. You are in a state of zero. Now you have an opportunity to integrate with friends, maybe through them you can get some strength and if not from the Creator. This is called from love of the created beings, connection with the friends. He can turn to the Creator and through the friends receive from the Creator together in a shared way, receive that force.
38. S. (01:02:38) It says if we go about reason then there are no questions, and everything is canceled. How can someone go above reason if he has no questions?
R. If there are no questions there is no way to go above reason. A person who comes to the wisdom of Kabbalah is not ready to go above reason, he doesn’t even understand what it is, how it is. But bit by bit after few years he begins to understand that that he has to overcome in order to receive and reach the same desire, being in order to bestow. Then when he hears what it means to be in order to bestow then he begins to realize. How does he know? Because he sees for instance let’s say me and the group, either I think for myself or for the group. So in that example, me and the group we can see what it is in order to receive, meaning for myself and in order to bestow, to the group. In such ways he learns.
39. S. (01:04:25) About the previous excerpt, blunt its teeth of in order to receive, doesn’t that go against principle that we have to rise above it, that we supposed to rise above the will to receive?
R. No, it’s not opposite I just have to go against the will to receive.
40. S. (01:05:02) In order to be precise about the guidance you gave us, you told us we don’t talk about the desire but the intention, whether it is in order to receive or in order to bestow. I got a bit confused because the intention in order to bestow we build it above the intention to receive. So we have three components here the desire, the intention in order to receive and above it the intention in order to bestow.
R. Yes, of course.
S. So how do we manage all these components, these ingredients?
R. This will all become simple, it will be simple. Just don’t get confused right now. Think about it gradually and within a few hours or a few days you can get used to it, there’s no problem.
S. It’s just that we talked about the fact that the intention in order to receive we replace it with the intention to bestow. We talk about replacing it, that’s my confusion. Now we’re saying we don’t replace it but build one intention above the other intention.
R. You will feel it. I don’t want to give you solutions of all sorts because words are confusing. You will begin to feel how it happens, a bit more time.
41. S. (01:06:47) I have the same confusion, usually we ask to replace the desire. Let’s say I want to play football and I ask the Creator to want to disseminate instead, or something like that. Or should I stay with my desire?
R. The desire doesn’t matter, what matters is the intention, where the intention can be greater which is typically on a greater desire, that’s what we use. We will soon start working with the desire, with the intention and thus we’ll get closer to building the Partzuf.
S. But if as you told the friend I have a desire to get rich, it hinders me, I don’t want this desire. Or should I stay with it and actually work with it?
R. You don’t have to work with the desires you have to work with the intentions. Start working with the intentions and then you will see how you see a new world, a world of intentions.
42. S. (01:08:08) The will to receive always remains this is clear. The question is this: the intention to receive and the intention to bestow, do they also remain in the process of correction or does the intention to receive after we do the correction get canceled and then what remains is the desire and above it the intention to bestow?
R. Repeat.
S. My question is in the process of correction do both intentions remain, one aside the other or the intention to receive after we make the correction is cancelled and what remains in the will to receive and above it the desire to bestow?
R. Yes, exactly that way.
S. So the intention to receive is canceled?
R. Yes.
43. S. (01:09:37) In excerpt number one it says when he wants to perform his actions in order to bestow which is called the Shechina in the dust he must not tell his body called the will to receive. What is this prohibition of not to tell the body? What does it mean?
R. That I don’t turn to the will to receive. I’m only working with the intention to whom do I want to work, who enjoys my action, that I am working with.
44. S. (01:10:25) Does the evil force manifest in the same intensity as the good force? Do we get both of these forces with an equal power, intensity?
R. I am not sure how to weigh it but probably yes. The good force and the bad force should be weighed against each other.
45. S. (01:10:53) What are the stages in inverting the intention to receive to an intention to bestow? Can you describe them?
R. It is that I incorporate with the friends and by incorporating with the friends I draw the light the reforms and it changes my intention from in order to receive to in order to bestow. All these actions, all of them happen only by the upper force but I have to bring myself to a state where the upper force influences me and changes my intension.
46. S. (01:11:52) I realize that we need to learn how to distinguish between the intention and the will to receive. Can you give us an example of how we can make this separation?
R. I don’t know what to tell you. Imagine that you have something in your hands, something tasty really tasty. Because to begin with you are in a desire that is in order to receive and that is why you identify that it’s tasty. If you had no intention but just the will to receive without an intention, an intention to enjoy then you would feel no flavor in it, not even a flavor. So you feel flavors in something because you examine how can you enjoy what you have in your hands. So if you transform this intention in order to bestow that’s where the big problem lies. How can you do that? It’s impossible. I don’t know how to tell you. The mother has a great pleasure when she kisses the baby. If you kiss the baby do you have the same pleasure? No. So it’s not about the action it is a matter of desire with an intention. So try to see how you change the desires, change the intentions, and transform them from this to that, from the guest to the host. Do a lot of exercises and it will be clearer to you. We’ll work on it, it’s very important.
47. S. (01:14:01) Working with each and every desire ends in that I have over this desire the intention to bestow, or it ends with a request to the Creator, or it could be that ends with the fact that we put this desire on the side for the time being?
R. No, the work ends with me turning to the Creator, and the Creator changes my intention from in order to receive to in order to bestow. With the Creators help of course I can work with the will to receive in order to bestow, and this is how it happens, one state after another state.
48. S. (01:14:51) Is the work with intention personal work, individual work by the person?
R. Both that and also inside the group, we will go through a few more states.
49. S. (01:15:06) What is the work of the ten here?
R. The work of the ten? When the ten gives support because everyone is in a different personal stage of this work and therefore we support each other. Ultimately we will discover how we all connect between us, how we make a single desire between us even though it’s comprised of many desires. The more we have a single intention to bestow to the Creator, which is comprised all of our personal intentions, then we will have what we call one man in one heart. Specifically by being incorporated with many desires and aiming them towards the Creator, that gives us the intensity.
50. S. (01:16:15) Why is it difficult for my ego to admit, to find out and to admit that my intention is bad?
R. Because that points to his nothingness, his lowliness to his despicability, how much he is causing harm.
51. S. (01:16:40) You said that we cannot break the will to receive so do we break the intention to receive? How do we emphasize the intention to bestow?
R. We receive the intention to bestow from above and its clothes on our will to receive.
