1. S. (02:13) What does it mean, the inner Sefirot and general Sefirot ?
R. Basically there is one law. It doesn’t matter where you start but the Sefira is the same Sefira. You count with the same laws. That is it. That is the rule. Let us read some more and we will see what it is about.

R. Yes, of course. We can’t discover the direct light without reflected light. Why don’t we feel the light in our life? We are in a space that is filled with light but we cannot feel it because we don’t have reflected light coming out of us. It is like if you have a blind person. Why is he blind? He is in a state where everyone sees what is going on but he cannot. Why? Because he supposedly has no reflected light. Same thing with us towards spirituality.
S. I cannot understand from all the previous items why when we read that Bina has seven Sefirot of direct light for example, I understand it has to be different. Three Sefirot or maybe we come from below from Malchut to Bina, the Sefirot of direct light?
R. It is because everything counts according to the reflected light as much as it clothes the direct light. Soon we will see it here too in chapter 10, a detailed explanation about the meaning of the words coupling by striking.

13. R. (22:39) Meaning we heard something very important just now which is the main action in spirituality, in the wisdom of Kabbalah, in anything, which is coupling by striking. That on one hand there is a connection and on the other hand the connection can exist only by repelling, only by striking. This is what happens in man that enters spirituality. That is why we need to understand this, we have to feel this, we have to try and adopt this.
14. S. (23:19) It is so interesting what Baal HaSulam writes here. He describes all these phenomena about Earth’s gravity. So it turns out that life on Earth is possible only when there is a balance between those two forces of rejection and attraction?
R. Of course, this is the way we live. If we would live in rejection we’re like birds. If we would live lower so we would be in the shell of the Earth like bugs or whatever that live underground. We are not the still, we are not the vegetative but we’re animate, and animate lives upon the Earth.
15. S. (27:07) About the part we just read he gave us an advice to adopt, this principle of coupling by striking, the hardness and the coarseness. How is this expressed though, if you could put it this way in the relationships between us?
R. We need to implement everything we’re learning as much as we can in the relationships between us and that’s a question. First of all as much as we understand what we are studying because in what we are studying there are two parts. One part belongs to understanding, studying, like any wisdom and one part belongs to correction of our vessels, to acquiring faith and the force of bestowal, the results of the studying that are above the intellect when we say faith above reason. So there are people that study more from this side or more from that side meaning that in that way they are drawn to the studies of the wisdom or studying for faith And that depends on the inner root of a person and it also depends on a person’s development, the way he develops.
There are people that are first drawn to wisdom and then to faith because they see that through the wisdom that they can’t attain spirituality, that spirituality is acquired in vessels of a bestowal and equivalence of form. And then what is important for them is to reach faith above reason and then from lack of choice they start paying attention to their actions in the ten and for some it’s enough for them the matter of the wisdom and whatever they can find there. So there are two kinds. The main thing is that we are working together in such a big audience in the last generation. So that the general force works on us and connects us and brings us to some equalization in our advancement, each one in his place, each one in his qualities but still we are all drawn more and more to one direction, like we see in the world. Our world is also a copy of spirituality even though it is egoistic, corporeal but still. So we see that the world as much as there were people and Nations that were separated and very different from one another, with due time especially in our time it brings them very close, technology, development, necessities in world trade. Because what do we see?
We cannot survive today, I’m not saying have a good life, I’m saying surviving, unless you are mixed with all the others. i’s a wonder but really if you take anything, even something in your home you will see how you have things there from around the world, from all countries And it is clear to everyone that that is how we need to develop. That is why our development in Kabbalah is also in our times, not from having wise people that are drawn through wisdom or people that are so pure that are drawn to faith above reason, but the mixture we have is what has to bring us to the purpose of creation, the purpose of the general development of humanity. So that is why the main thing for us is to advertise this wisdom and between us to reach the building of the right environment, the right system. That’s it. That is how it will happen.
16. S. (32:09) So is it for us to try to imagine what is the coupling by striking in the relationships between us or is it too soon?
R. In our relationships, no. Between the relationships between us and the Creator how can we, between us, see a coupling by striking? Oh, you mean the Creator, you mean that one gives to the other, is that what you mean?
S. I’m asking, I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking. What does it mean coupling by striking that we in the ten between us and between us and the Creator perform such an action as he described here?
R. That we from between us to the Creator do such an action, yes, of course. That we need to receive from him everything but receive it only after the restriction. That we do not want for ourselves but only that we understand that we need to receive for the benefit of the Creator, like He is doing for us. then by us doing such a kind of action we and Him are in mutuality, like the guest and the host nd by that we reach adhesion.
S. Before we have this restriction where we are as one ten before the one Creator, how do we come to that initial point?
R. That you connect together, you try to connect above your ego and when you connect above your ego you also have a Partzuf. That in it there are ten parts and each one wants to connect to the others by annulling himself and each one wants to bestow to the others from his entire heart and soul, by the friends advancing and rising. When each one does that between you you build a force of reception that you connect together and and the force of bestowal that you bestow together; between those two forces you present towards the Creator. Then he can enter such a state that you have a ready vessel from the force of reception and the force of bestowal and he can work with you. Yes?
S. When we unite together as a force of reception?
R. When you unite together you unite to attain the Creator to bestow to Him and in order to bestow to Him you need a force of reception and a force of bestowal.
S. So what is it in the system?
R. The guest can’t all sit before the host without an appetite on the one hand. On the other hand he needs to be before the host and also have the force of rejection, that he does not want the meal and then he builds himself before the Creator in the right way, that’s how the ten has to be. You cannot forget that state, that is our life.
S. So what is the common force of reception after the connection and what is our common force of bestowal?
R. As much as no one wants to bestow to the other one but we want to reach overcoming ourselves and to bestow each one to the friend. In this way we take these forces and present them to the Creator and then by this we are willing to receive from Him, only that is called we perform a restriction. That our regular will to receive does not use it in a regular way but we use our will to receive and indirectly and we want to receive from the Creator but only under the condition that we are doing it for Him supposedly. So if we did a preparation from between us we can already approach the Creator. If you approach the friends without the Creator you can’t appear before Him as a bestower, only to the extent that you are bestowing to the ten can you be sure that you can bestow to the Creator and reach Him.
17. S. (37:15) My bestowal upon the ten and bestowal upon the Creator I cannot understand. Is this in the same direction? Is it the same coupling by striking or is my bestowal to the ten something that builds a desire in me and then I have to receive and bestow upon the Creator outwards?
R. No, in the end you see that it is all giving and you have to stand before the friend or before the Creator in the same position. Same thing. Just towards the Creator in order to be prepared for the Creator you connect with the friends, and then, by you wanting to reach the Creator you are already working in the force of bestowal towards the friends. Meaning you already have an incorporation of the forces of receiving and bestowing together.
S. I don’t understand. What is the meaning of incorporation of forces of reception and bestowal?
R. That you turn to the Creator in order to receive from Him in order to bestow. To the extent that you have an intention to bestow you can receive from the Creator, right?
S. Yes but we turn to Him, with what do we turn to Him? It seems like when we turn to Him we’re not asking to receive anything, we want to bestow.
R. What can you give Him?
S. Love, connection between us, relation?
R. Let us say so, and…?
S. But you’re saying the force of reception. So I want to understand where is this force of reception?
R. If we are talking about the example of the guest and the host so the guest without an appetite, without the will to receive from the host he cannot approach the host. It will be a lie if he does that. We want to receive from the Creator, we understand that by that we are giving Him contentment.
S. So nevertheless in our connection, that our connection is the force of reception and bestowal is in a different direction toward the Creator?
R. The connection between us is the same connection, that we want to receive from the Creator what He wants to give us. The more we connect between us like that we’re more prepared to receive from the Creator. But where is that connection? That by us connecting we are connecting above our ego, above our ego and when we turn to the Creator we are already above our ego connected in order to connect to the Creator in the same way.
S. The coupling by striking we learn about, what does it happen?
R. It is between people and our society. That we discover as much as we can receive and want to receive from the Creator, along with that we have the intention to give Him, to do it for Him. It is difficult to depict to yourself that you’re as a baby, that you are receiving from the mother, that she wants to give you and you are doing it only for her. There is nothing about it except for the wisdom of Kabbalah, the wisdom how to receive.
18. S. (42:04) The friends already know that at the end of July in Lithuania the friends are gathering for the European Retreat. Many friends are already registered and from many countries. We will gather in the open air and the question is, the friends have very different characters, very different will to receive. When they connect, what other connection qualitatively with the Creator does it give us? How does it change our connection with the Creator?
R. The fact that we are connecting between us above the borders and limits of countries and Nations, it gives us a very special relation from us to the Creator and from the Creator towards us. The fact that we want to skip over the borders between us to annul the gaps between us even though we are not that close to one another according to mentality according to history and many things; if we want to uplift above it, it’s already an effort that we want to rise above the Earth and reach discernments that in spirituality we become as one nation as one man. That’s why such connections you are performing are very important and really help us advance towards the goal, especially that we are now in the last generation. I purposefully am trying to hold Bnei Baruch as an organization for all nations, for every man, men and women, for everyone, from all countries and nations. Because that is actually what our time demands, that is what this time demands. That is why I’m very happy that you are performing that meeting there.
