Baal HaSulam. “Study of the Ten Sefirot” (TES). Vol. 1. Part 1. Chapter 2. #1 (“After the above restriction there remained a place of space and vacant,”)

1.Rav’s Introduction: (00:30) Yes but before we come to our place where we stopped in the previous lesson, we will read the words of the ARI where we had before in chapter one.

Chapter 1 item 1 (00:44)

Item 2 (01:48) Item 3 (02:18) Item 4 (02:44)

2. R . (04:44) Yes this is as far as we got and now we continue from here on we are learning.

Chapter 2 (05:02) Item 1, twice

Inner Light item 1 (07:14)

3. R. (08:30) Meaning the light that came down from its source into the space, builds according to how it descends into this place in various forms, and he fills this empty space in this way.

Item 2 (08:55)

4. S. (14:33) When the division or separation between the light and the vessels happened because he writes here that there are no changes in the light but at the same time the vessels do change so when does this division happen?

R. When the vessels have begun to feel that they are opposite from the light, accordingly the change has started to take place in them.

S. When did they begin to feel?

R. He’s not telling us where it’s happening. We will learn about it later. The vessel needs to feel it is receiving and what is receiving, according to which laws he’s receiving, and that according to those laws of reception he begins to change. This is how it happens.

S. What is this renewal, Incident he writes about?

R. Incident means it happens at a certain moment, it doesn’t mean that it is some sort of a random occurrence without any previous events and decisions and corrections, no. An incident means that before it wasn’t there and now it is happening.

5. S. (16:32) How can we describe what we are learning in our feelings like, circle, line, like going down or restriction. What does it mean with respect to the friend?

R. The question is correct, you need to go to the interpretation of the words at the end of this portion and there you will read what is a circle, what is a line, all those discernments. In spirituality those shapes do not exist but there are changes of the light relative to the Created beings and that’s how we call these changes, either in a line or degrees or in a circle and all kinds of shapes and forms. We need to learn about it and we will learn about it, it’s ahead of us. We need to depict it in our feelings and adapt ourselves to the expansion of the light so that we arrange ourselves according to the expansion of the light, and then we’ll begin to feel how the light is expanding. Soon we will talk about it more.

6. S. (18:01) “The light of Ein Sof restricted itself from the middle point”, what new reality formed here compared to the light of Ein Sof that fills the whole of reality?

R. A reality of restriction. We don’t learn more than that and try to ask about what we are learning and not just a few words that are written here. We’re going to learn about those things, you actually know.

S. “Extended one straight line that hung down into that space”, what is the Creator doing here?

R. This describes the action of the Creator, that He extended the line of light of Ein Sof into the space.

S. We need to depict it.

R. We have to learn how to correctly depict it to not be confused and portray it corporeally the way we are used to doing it.

7. S. (19:22) How does the Study of TES advance us?

R. By reading texts that describe spiritual actions and wanting to resemble these actions to come to a state where they take place in us, that advances us towards the entrance to spirituality.

Reader continues: (20:00) “ now you can understand…”

8. R. (02:26) Meaning we see how he explains it according to the order: We have the light of Ein Sof, infinity that shine and fill all of reality, then this reality was restricted from the light of Ein Sof , does not shine infinitely without any limitations which means like a circle, but rather in the form of a line from above down; there’s a place where it is present and there is a place where it arrives at the light of Ein Sof and that’s what’s happening as a result of the restriction. There are many questions here but we’re going to follow in his footsteps and he’s going to explain to us.

9. S. (23:23) He asked us to remember that there are no changes in the light and the impression of phase four is above what he received from the three phases, is what we should remember?

R. No. We learn about it all the time that the fourth phase was restricted; the light comes through three phases, how it is happening and why, and the fourth phase is receiving from the three phases, according to how much it is impressed by and is adapted to receiving from these three phases. These three phases are the forces of bestowal in the vessel and the fourth phase is the quality of reception in the vessel, and according to how the fourth phase adapts itself to the three phases it can receive from them.

10. S. (24:22) What is this action of restriction so that afterwards the line appears. How can we depict the light creating this within itself?

R. Let’s say you come as a guest somewhere and they invite you to the table for a meal and you say no no no I’m not hungry, I don’t want anything, thank you so on and so forth. Why? because it’s not accustomed to show yourself that you’re hungry and you just came to devour everything, so this first refusal, what does it do? It creates an equivalence of form between the receiver and The giver. So, in this way they demand that we do it in spirituality. Because by that we are approaching the Creator; we raised ourselves from a reception and later we can build the form of reception like the form of bestowal.

Meaning I receive only on the condition that I’m giving pleasure to The Host. This is similar to some things that we do in this life, that we refuse the invitation and then finally we sit down and we receive gradually, which means that we are together with the host on an equal footing with the host and not that he is the giver and I’m the receiver. Of course there is a psychological game here and our ego is involved, but nevertheless, even in our life we do it let alone in the spiritual life. We have to see how to do it in Truth, in our desire so that by that we reach equivalence with the Creator. If I truly do not want to receive from the host in order to come closer to Him, in order to reach Him, in order to receive from Him, not because I wish to fill myself but because I wish to give Him contentment.

So, it turns out that I am turning this game into a mutual spiritual action, He is giving me and I am giving Him. And, there is the ascent of the receiver to the degree of the bestower since by finally sitting down by the table and receiving from the host, I am doing him a favor. I’m not receiving from Him in actuality I am giving to Him. This is what it is all about. By performing such an action the created being can reach equivalence of form with the Creator and resemble the Creator, then if he performs such actions he feels himself to some extent like the Giver, like the Creator.

That’s what’s important to us, to reach a state like the Creator and then we feel Him, we understand Him and we work this way towards the other friends, and all of us together towards the Creator and by that we feel ourselves like the Creator, who is the giver and we become the we reached the degree of the Creator, which is called ‘a spiritual degree’; to the extent to which we were able to use our will to receive, to receive but in order to bestow to Him. To that extent we reach equivalence  with Him and we feel like Him.

S. Just to be precise, the restriction, is it already some feeling of the Creator because I can’t restrict myself just like that?

R. We’ll learn about it. It is possible that I’m feeling shame and this shame does not obligate me to feel the Creator, on the contrary before I perform the restriction I cannot feel the Creator. We will learn about all those things. There are many discernments in it.

11. S. (29:40) The feeling of rejection, do we feel it only if we go through the first three phases?

R. The feeling of rejection is felt before all those stages. We will learn about it soon. You are asking things that are ahead, have a little patience.

12. S. (30:17) I was like dead until now but now I understand what is happening better. Is there a difference between the emanated being and the created being and what is the difference?

R. For the time being there is no difference. The emanated being becomes a created being, these are all the degrees by which we sometimes refer to, the will to receive. We’ll learn about it along the way.

13. S. (30:55) What is restriction and what causes the restriction?

R. Restriction means that I refused to receive.

S. What causes it?

R. Various reasons, that’s it for the time being.

14. S. (31:22) What if we don’t like what the host puts on the table?

R. There is no such thing because the Creator who is the host, He creates our desire and then He fills our desire. So, it can’t not work like in our world when you are invited to the table and the food does not suit you, there’s no such thing. Because that food is what created the will to receive in you. You are one hundred percent in your will to receive, suitable, fitting to the offering on the table. You want nothing but the thing that is on the table in quantity and quality; you are attracted to that completely. Because what is on the table is seemingly the selection of lights that are before your will to receive.

Let’s continue, gradually, I’m happy you’re asking but I’m also happy that you hold back a little bit. I also want to ask, do you read the explanation of the words in your free time, let’s say what we just went through part 1, chapter one. Did you read it? Do you have questions about it? Throughout the day we need to try and add to what we’re learning in the morning lesson, we have to add what Baal HaSulam writes so we have the interpretations of the words and questions about various manners, we have new editions. It’s not mandatory, we will touch upon all those things but it is recommended that we will learn those things throughout the day. There are many, many things, when we learn TES there are additional subjects that we have to go over them.

15. S. (34:01) There’s a big emphasis on the fact that the restriction of the light was even on all sides. I don’t really understand why it’s so important to emphasize it?

R. Since there is no preference by the Creator over certain desires, certain directions, rather everything is filled by His generose hand with the light of Ein Sof for everyone; regardless of the desires, the degrees wherever you are, He wants to help everyone, each and everyone, 100%. Therefore the form of it is called circle, which means it is equal in all directions.

Item 3 in Inner Light (34:53)

16. R. (35:28) Meaning there are four degrees of the will to receive and he relates to all of them equally, both, from the side of the light towards the created beings, a greater creature, a smaller creature, with different desires from one another; the light wishes to bestow to everyone equally. Equally doesn’t mean the same portion rather according to the desire and state of each and every one.

Reader continues: (36:03) “and the reason is that the upper light….”

17. R. (36:17) What we will later learn about the difference in the vessels and the difference in the light that fills the vessel, you have to remember that all of it is only relative to the vessels. But relative to the Creator in the upper light there’s no difference between them. It’s how a mother relates to her many children, she wants to give all of them, each and every one of them what is good for them and according to how much they want it.

Item 4 relating to the words Above Downward (36:53)

18. R. (41:07) We see that Baal HaSulam doesn’t quite consider the flow of the text so it will match the way i use to study, from scratch, patiently rather he seemingly jumps forward then he backtrucks, he doesn’t quite follow the typical learning form. But that is his style, we have no choice. He also follows the writings of ARI. So, that’s what we have, the more we will be able to add to it, we’ll add and we’ll try to cleave to his writing style. We need to understand that it’s his text and it’s recommended that we cleave to his text since the illumination we need to receive from our learning, specifically from his writings will change and correct us; we need to come to a feeling that what he writes about will take place in us. It’s not something we understand in our intellect, rather it happens in us; I will gradually feel that this material changes me, corrects me, opens up various forms of reception in me, emotionally and mentally.

19. S. (43:07) I don’t want to be a wise guy but we learned that the line is after the restriction then there has to be a screen, but now there are four phases and a line as he described here?

R. There is a line that extends from above down, and when it comes down it touches the lower one and it builds in the lower one the reactions from below up. We will learn about it. You’re right.

20 S. (43:41) Can we say that the Hassadim, mercy of the Creator, filled the Ein Sof?

R. You’re right, but we will learn it more accurately, what feels? What discernments? By what will we become filled? The problem is that the Creator who created reality, the will to receive, and created it through the upper light, through bestowal and filled the will to receive with the light, with his bestowal, right? Afterward it causes in the will to receive a restriction and a reaction. When the will to receive begins to react to the giver, to the light that comes and fills it, and it performs on the light, it gives the light all kinds of conditions by what and how it wants to receive the light.

As if the created being gives sets of conditions to the Creator; I want to receive only in this way and not otherwise. And, this is what we learned, this is why it’s called the wisdom of Reception, Kabbalah. Which is basically how the created being sets conditions to the creator, of course is according to the conditions by which the Creator created the created being. So, it’s about how we come to the state where we understand it, and connect to each other and fill each other. Each one fills the other with his relation. It’s not a matter of how much I receive weight-wise but how much I want to receive and how much I want to bestow. How much he expresses his relation to the other.

21. S. (45:57) What is the meaning of the circles moving away from the emanator?

R. The emanator is seemingly at the center of creation and from him spreads the circles from around the middle point, or afterwards we see otherwise. That the emanated being sets the condition that it will receive only according to its own conditions so it’s as if now he is in the center of reality, making the restriction and setting the condition that only in this way as I determined, I will receive. It happens to us even in our world. A child for example who doesn’t want to eat, who refuses or something, so instead of becoming receiver, he becomes the one who determines; yes, I will receive only on condition. So, here the roles are reversed between the emanator and the emanated being: Who begins the act and who controls whom?

22. S. (47:33) What’s the meaning here of refinement and coarseness?

R. We haven’t learned that, refinement and coarseness relate to the upper light usually. The extent to which we are similar to the upper light in our quality of bestowal we are called refinement and to the extent we can’t we are called coarse. In other words coarseness and refinement are not according to the desire only but according to how the desire relates to the light that stands and presses it and wants to be received.

23. S. (48:22) Why specifically Kabbalists who know the origin of the will to receive use terms like worse or lowly?

R. How else can they describe it? If we have a will to receive by which we can realize the purpose of creation then it turns out that the will to receive becomes a deciding factor, greater. So it turns out that we want to use it in such a way that it is now at the center of creation; because the Creator is the giver, He doesn’t change, He gives under any circumstances and the will to receive which has become the deciding factor positions itself at the center of creation. Just like in our world we say, every little child is at the head of the family. What does it mean that the little child is the head of the family? He determines what happens in the family. The whole family revolves around him, right? What he needs, what he wants, Is he healthy, or is she hungry? Everything revolves around the little child. This is why there are seemingly reversals of rolles and the little one has become the great one, and it’s really so. It’s really so. This is how we come to the place of the Creator; where we can take all the conditions He gives us and be like Him, but in bestowal not in reception.

24. S. (50:26) About your advice to learn the interpretation of the words in what way to correctly learn the interpretation of the words together?

R. We will talk about it. We will talk about it. I think that during the day when you connect among yourselves several times, there you should study around what we study in the morning and the study the ten sefirot. Study that and this is how we will advance.

25. S. (51:10) This transition of the light from the circle to a line is this because the vessel or the desire was shattered into 600,000 parts?

R. No and I recommend for you not to ask about things we haven’t learned.

26. S. (51:42) You said earlier that in order for us to feel the Creator we must reach a state like the Creator. What is it for a state to be like the Creator?

R. Like the Creator, meaning, a giver. Thinking only how it can fill the desires of the others. This is how we should behave in the group and if we try to do it we begin to feel the Creator because according to equivalence of form we become like Him. The Creator wants to bestow upon the created beings, bestow upon the created beings as much as you can. Allow yourself even one gram and in that gram you will begin to feel yourself like the Creator. To that extent, in other words, the Creator will open up to you. You will be with Him in that gram of bestowal from you to others. You will be His partner, His friend and this is what we need.

27. S. (52:52) On the one hand we say that there is no Creator without a creature on the other hand we’re describing a process by which there was a Creator and later their was the created being. How does it work out?

R. No problem. First there was the upper light that created all the will to receive, meaning all of created beings and all of their forms. But the concept of the Creator Boreh, come and see, Bo Re’eh. It is what is revealed towards the created beings. If there is a created being then that created being attains its Creator because it feels that it is a created being, a will to receive that begins to receive, to feel where the will to receive came from, what the will to receive wants etc. This is why we say that there was no Creator without a created being but basically initially, we begin from a degree where there is still no Creator and no created being. It’s just that there is an abstract upper light filling all of reality.

The concept of Creator and created beings begin, to the extent that they are opposite from one another and feel through the oppositeness, feel one another, soon it will be clearer to us. This is why one of the conditions in the wisdom of Kabbalah, in this study, is to first of all learn and maybe even once or twice some part of our learning of our material and then to begin to discuss and understand because right now we have nothing to work with. This is why we go from beginning to end, fill yourself up with what is written and then gradually start sorting it out, organizing it in your mind and in your heart and that way you’ll begin to connect with the material. Okay?

S. So it turns out that when we say that there is no Creator without the created being the meaning is when we bestow and now, as we are studying the material, it turns out that we are speaking more of Atzmuto, His essence, and later about the Created being.

R. Right now we are learning about states where there is still no created being. The created being means that it feels that it stands opposite from the Creator, cut off from Him and can come into some sort of contact with Him, receiving from Him and can bestow upon Him. The created being is some sort of a personality within the will to receive which of the Creator created and that personality, as it develops, we can say oh that’s a created being. Just like you can’t say about a baby that it is a human being, it is still a piece of flesh. When does it become a human being? After it comes, in its development, it’s got its own desires and it begins to work with these desires. Normally this is when it’s called a Bar Mitzvah, meaning it becomes responsible, accountable for its actions. It knows who it is, that he exists, why he exists and that there’s a Creator and he needs to connect with Him and before that it’s just a piece of flesh that is just like any other little animal. Okay? Bit by bit these definitions, we will feel them, it’s really a new world.

Item 2 (57:07)

28. R. (57:53) In other words, this line by which the light descends from above downward, descends from Ein Sof and up to a certain place in the middle, right in the middle of the circle and it conveys all the light, all the filling all the discernment that has along the way. This is what happens.

Item 6 the Inner Light Twice (58:32)

29. R. (59:50) Meaning even if it begins to come down according to the line it does not disconnect according to Ein Sof, bit by bit the more it descends the more it moves away from the concept of Ein Sof, the Creator.

Item 7 (01:00:15)

30. R. (01:00:37) Meaning to the extent that the light descends from moves away from the concept of the Creator, Ein Sof and it becomes closer and closer to the created being because he dresses in it and in that dressing in the created being it requires more of its nature, it’s qualities, similarity with it. This is why this light gradually becomes closer and closer to the created being and accordingly the light in it also grows dimmer and dimmer.

Item 3 (01:01:22) “The light of Ein Sof expands….”

Item 4 (01:01:44) “All the worlds are in….”

Item 8 (01:02:10) “It implies the four worlds called…”

31. R. (01:02:47) Okay let’s finish.

Item 5 (01:02:54) “Prior to the restriction there was he is one….” Twice

Item 9 (01:04:06) “Called Atzilut…”

32. R. (01:04:53) Before the worlds we cannot say that there is a difference between the lights or the vessels all the discernments, we don’t attain it, we can’t determine anything.

Item 10 (01:05:09) “he implies the upper light….”

Item 20 (01:05:33) “This means that now after the worlds…”

Item 30 (01:06:03) “Since in Ein Sof…”

33. R. (01:06:28) Looks like I didn’t see any questions and means everything is trivial and clear. If you know everything, probably I can ask them.

34. S. (01:06:58) It is written that before the restriction when he’s one and his name is one, what is that desire? Is it before the four phases or after?

R. It is before the restriction. You could say so, how did ARI attain states that are prior to the restriction from which to which the created being does not reach, how did he feel, how he could write anything about it? I will talk about it, it really is a question of the limit of attainment but in truth we can only attain to the extent, from this point to that point because according to the limits of our attainment we can speak otherwise it is as if we are in space, clear?

35. S. (01:08:19) How could it be that the restriction was on his name, on the desire?

R. Because he said, the respect to the created beings, we can say before the created beings began there are not the same limitations as after the created beings. Our feelings are in the partitions, the distinctions there. If we don’t have the distinctions, the differences we have no understanding. Of course not, therefore, what we talk about here is from the degree of attainment that we begin to have and before that from the negation of attainment.

This is what it’s called Ein Sof, Infinity, no end. We will study it. The problem in studying spirituality, it is that we have to absorb these discernments and gradually operate within us and happen in us and they gradually build us. The more we talk about it and try to understand, to know these discernments build us from within more and more and out of this we attain and feel. As it is written we don’t attain, we don’t know by name or word because it has to be attainment, we need to yearn for attainment not in our intellect but in our feelings to organize our desires, our feelings in such a way that we can feel what he’s talking about. So that form that the book talks about exists in us so within us we have some screen or make a mechanism, system, where we read there is what happens. Not because we study it intellectually, what happens in our desires, from these we will understand and feel what is called attain, what it’s about. This is what we should come too.

36. S. (01:11:37) The fact that you engage with us doesn’t limit your attainment?

R. No no no no no.

S. Don’t you want to advance more?

R. No. The more I teach people, lower people, sorry for using that word with respect to you. Meaning, people who do not know, don’t understand and I pull them towards attainment, to understanding, by this I expand my vessel too but mainly I’m bringing contentment to the Creator. By this I am, with your participation, I am engendering for him more vessels that he can tend to and fill and this is really his pleasure. So I don’t see any inferiority in my work. To me, it is a reward not work. So, thank you for coming to the lessons and allowing me to bestow upon you and bestow upon the Creator and for allowing me to do this work.

37. S. (01:13:22) It says in the text below that they refer to the fourth phase where the light of Ein Sof doesn’t touch and is separated from Him. Meaning on the fourth phase in Ein Sof is the created being or not yet?

R. We will learn these things accurately. Here you can’t talk about Creator and created being etc. more precise things, no.

38. S. (01:14:02) What is the difference between the beginning of the line that touches the Ein Sof and He and His name is one, what is that discernment?

R. The beginning of the line that touches Ein Sof means that it’s coming from the desire, the highest desire, that it is coming from the Creator and from there cascades to the created beings in order to uphold, to carry out the will of the Creator but the end of the line and during the line, as it descends and cascades, it creates all the worlds, the concealments and through that concealment it can connect to the lower ones just like we, for example, when we work with children at the age of six months to one year, five year, ten years. Meaning we relate to children according to their development. The same goes for the line from Ein Sof where there is no boundary. The light descends and spreads, tends to its desires, the created beings, to the extent that the created beings can come closer to Him, react, respond to Him correctly.

S. What is the difference between Him and His name is one?

R. He’s one and His name one means that in every place in the line there is still the Creator and it doesn’t matter in what way He relates to that created being on every single degree it is still He Himself, He Himself.

39. S. (01:15:57) Is it possible to yearn to accept these forms in our feelings if we don’t understand them in our mind at all?

R. The two are totally unrelated. We have to yearn to feel it, to do it in our feelings to create some sort of similarity between the relationships between us and by this we influence our desires and they acquire that same form of which the book speaks.

S. How can we penetrate the feeling in the book without even connecting in an external intellectual way, in something, with the text.

R. Connect, try to connect. Your desire basically determines.

S. How to do it in a way that it’ll be more deeper and not just read something that doesn’t even penetrate?

R. Through your efforts, feel it, understand it and carry it out in the connection between you and towards the Creator, a prayer. Now you are beginning, you have come to the study of TES with great preparation. You learned a lot, you know everything around it now you are reaching the building of the spiritual vessel.

S. How not to read the text as something that passes by you ear and you just don’t connect to it at all?

R. That happens. I experienced it myself. I know these things. When we grasp it only intellectually and there’s no choice, there are those who immediately feel or want to feel there are those who are the opposite who understand intellectually and want to depict all those things, to draw all those things, so there’s a problem here. Some perceive with the intellect, some with the feeling. The truth is in the middle. You have to create all those forms you study about, within you, in your desire and translate all the circles and the straight lines and the restrictions all those things into emotional operations, emotional operations. So, depict how you express them, imagine how you express them with your friends.

S. In order to do this action I need something, to connect to the text, to understand it.

R. No,no. You want to connect to the text in that you want to see the text and realize what the text is saying in the relationship between you and your friends and the Creator.

S. And can I do it even if I don’t understand one word?

R. In this way you will understand. From that you will understand what it’s about.

S. And how does it not become something that is as if I’m reading something that isn’t in a language I know.

R. So a little child is given a spoon with something and then he tastes it and then he’s told what it is and he remembers the flavors and he remembers whether it’s tasty or not and accordingly we get wiser from that we collect flavors and thus advance. This is called the attainment of the upper world that you are entering as if a new place and you are being taught new flavors, meaning what’s going on in this place.

S. Thank You.

R. The most important is to try to do actions of bestowal between the friends and from that you will begin to feel what it’s about. What is bestowal? What is giving? What could it be that it is above my will to receive and so one. That is the main thing, these discernments open your eyes.

40. S. (01:21:40) It turns out that we keep bending around all these complex texts. You can’t reach true attainment through all these texts that are not clear?

R. First we learned all kinds of articles of Baal HaSulam and Rabash and we thought that everything is clear from there. Now we learn this in a technical way and it also writes about the same things, the same actions, except that there we weren’t so aware that we have to realize these things physically meaning in the relationship between us and the Creator. This is in a more clear schematic, open way. There behind the emotions perhaps it wasn’t so clear to us. Now each one is facing his group he has to realize with his group what is written here towards the Creator. How the Kli has to transform towards bestowing to the Creator so that’s the person with respect to the group.

S. Yesterday in the tens meeting we read the explanation of the words and it seemed like we are like babies in the beginning of the path and there were thousands of pages and materials we didn’t understand. Let’s say compared to this world there’s the theory of relativity that we heard about and we know but a regular person in order to feel this somewhat needs years and here it seems like it will take a few incarnations to understand this or do we?

R. If we do that in the connection between us it’s possible to do it in a short, fast and pleasant way. The whole problem is to approach the realization of it correctly.

41. S. (01:24:31) According to the text if we could repeat, there are four worlds Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, Assyia, they include all the worlds?

R. That is just degrees. Just degrees that exist in all of creation and they divide into four parts. There is nothing more to that, he is just writing that.

42. S. (01:25:06) I don’t understand how the light from the circle becomes a line. Is it because of the depth of the darkness we are in?

R. A light from the circle becomes a line after the restriction, we will learn that. For now we still haven’t learned that and now we will move to inner observation, that will make things more clear to us, closer to us.

Inner Observation (01:26:00)

43. R. (01:28:58) Questions? None. Are you understanding or not? Is this interesting or not? Say something. Maybe I’ll do some kind of survey. How interesting is it or not, let’s say. If it is interesting click one if it’s not interesting click two. Okay fine now a second question, is this understood or not understood? Understood will be one, not understood will be two. Okay, not so bad. It is almost equal, alright. Now the third question, is it felt more emotionally or more intellectually? If it’s in the emotion click one if it’s in the intellect click two. Okay, Good. I’ll tell you that we have all in all a very strong stable group where it is almost half and half in every sense. That is good. There are other kinds of questions, we will discover them, we will clarify them on the way. Let’s continue for now.

Reading continues: (01:31:00) “That should appease your mind regarding…”

44. R. (01:33:20) I don’t see questions for now and it’s in the meantime the introduction.

Reading continues: (01:33:30) ”Indeed those whose eyes have not been open…”

45. R. (01:33:45) Which is like our situation from now.

Reading continues: (01:33:49) ”With the roots…”

46. S. (01:35:19) I understand that what we read in the first part and what we feel are branches.

R. Yes.

47. S. (01:35:35) If you could maybe elaborate about why two objects cannot come out of the same root?

R. Because in the root it has its own, the root has its own gene where it emerges from with all its data, with all its nature and program of development so it’s impossible that from the same root you will have two branches, each one with its own fate and own power and purpose. So, there is one root that brings out one branch, only like that.

48. S. (01:36:37) Yesterday in the lesson something wonderful happened. We talked about the circle and the center of the Creator that is in the center, you explained it and then you added that the center is actually the center of the ten. But you can make these connections, we cannot make these connections and what we are learning to our spiritual work in the ten?

R. We can describe to ourselves that we exist in a circle and at the center of the circle there is the Creator and also the group is in the center of the circle and we want to work in such a way that the center of the circle of the group and the Creator will come together. Sometimes we say no, the Creator is more like surrounding us, sometimes we say no, it is more like the center. It depends on what we are trying to explain here. We shouldn’t insist and fail with any term here and over time things settle into the right place. As it is written from beginning to end, meaning first you go through all the materials and then you begin to understand it in pieces that are closer to the inner work and each and every one’s soul.

49. S. (01:38:41) Baal HaSulam says that like copying from one language to the other from the language of branches to the other because then we can understand the spiritual concept, so I felt your speaking and we don’t understand anything, we cannot connect the language of branches to the speaking language we don’t have any idea about it. What is the language of branches anyway?

R. We will learn this overtime. Because the truth is the language of the branches we cannot learn it because we don’t sense the upper world so how will we draw the line from the upper root to its result in our lower world. We can’t do that so the language of the branches is unclear to us. Bit by bit by the study and the influence of the light that reforms we will begin to feel that there is an upper root and we are in its lower branches.

S. Why were you in shock that there weren’t any questions because we’re not there and we don’t understand what you are saying?

R. Yes. I remember myself also sitting in front of Rabash and nodding like this with my head as if I understood and he nodded with his head as if he understood that I understood.

S. How could we even understand a bit? To add something to this?

R. Mr. it’s not going to happen unless you will dry up, dry up from the study and the faster it happens the better and you’ll understand that He has to come to you through a feeling, a feeling and not intellectual understanding. That you will want to participate in that in an emotional way.

S. It is like the cat and the mouse, chasing it.

R. Imagine yourself that it is tailored to us, exactly compatible to us, to our generation which is so crude and corporeal and technical but precisely in such a way this kind of study fits us.

S. And then we’ll have the language of branches you are saying?

R. Yes.

S. It’s already someone in attainment that will feel it?

R. I’m sure this is close to us in attainment as well.

Chapter 1: (01:42:18) “Know that before the emanated beings…”

50. R. (01:43:35) He will try to explain to us even those those things are very difficult for our perception, we need to learn about the upper world even though we are present in the lower world and even though the concepts in the lower world and upper world are identical but they are not the same thing. What is light, what is Kli? Rosh, Raglaim, Zanav, Guf, bestowal, reception, nothing is the same. The names are the same, the words are the same but the interpretation of the words is not the same interpretation. It is not the same interpretation, so it is like we say something to a little child and he hears the word but he doesn’t understand the essence of the word, doesn’t understand it, what can we do? When we speak to a friend and we see that what I feel I cannot communicate to a friend, even though I’m a person and he’s a person and we are in similar emotions but still not understanding each other. There is some sort of limitation here, a burdening here, some barrier between us that we can’t communicate to each other spiritual concepts and that is the whole thing, both between us and also between us and the Creator.

How do I communicate to another what I feel? You probably tried more than once to see that what you feel, the other doesn’t. He can understand you, he can describe something based on his vessels based on his qualities what you’re talking about but also it is according to his qualities. Meaning he can say yes, fine, without the same kind of excitement that you have. How do we communicate our feeling from one to the other through understanding and all kinds of explanations, how? It is only if we connect at our root the Creator, and then the Creator influences all of us based on our ability to perceive this uniformed sensation and then accordingly we begin to understand each other without the Creator participating. Because he is our only common root, without it we will not be able to understand each other, how to move to that stage where we connect in the Creator and then to that extent we understand each other. That is our problem. If we understand that this is the solution then we will truly be able to come to the solution of all the problems if we connect between us and with the Creator and this will be the end of all of our problems. Because we will understand that all of our problems are because we do not connect between us and the connection between us can be if we connect with the Creator. That is how it is.

51. S. (01:47:57) Sometimes our friend in the ten gets inspiration and understanding and you want to pass it through the ten and they supposedly don’t feel anything, so can we do it through the Creator somehow?

R. Only through the Creator, only through the Creator. If you think the friend is ready and understands you, it is corporeal things, simple things and if you truly want to solve the problem of understanding between you and the friend, it is only through your mutual connection to the Creator.

S. Sometimes we watch the same lesson and one friend is inspired and the other one is sleeping, so what is the real way to pass it to the Creator in practice?

R. Connect in the Creator ask pray do whatever actions, the articles on this, do it. Just do it, the main thing is to want it and to go towards that, some actions. There is nothing, no other solution besides connection.

52. S. (01:49:20) How to dry out quicker from the studies because there is a satisfaction from the intellectual studying?

R. It is truly a problem because the intellectual study can take a long time and there are many Kabbalists who aren’t understanding so much about what happens in spirituality but they know how to describe it in an intellectual way and they think that is the attainment. In that they confuse others and this is a problem, they have some clue in their feeling but a little bit and all the rest of it, most of it, is intellectual attainment and we have to try to work in the group. I think as we study this we will take care of all of these points.

S. During the day, what exactly should we read what we read or to read the interpretation of the words and so on?

R. Surrounding the same topic in the same part, that is it. We have learned from part 1 and then inner observation, you can go to the interpretation of the words or the table of questions and answers. You can travel through part one as much as you want because we have concluded it in the words of the ARI. You can do that on the condition that you are already repeating the same material we learned in the morning.

53. S. (01:51;45) On the one hand I feel like I want to pass the feeling to the friends, on the other hand I feel that I am cheap about it.

R. That is clear and it is good because you understand that you do not give sufficient strength in connection with the friends even though that you hear it is the main thing in spirituality for attainment that if you connect to them in practice and bestow your forced to them by that you open up your soul for the entrance of the upper light into it.

S. I need to feel I want to give everything or to devote myself to this feeling that there is a lot of movement between us and just flow with it?

R. Not just flow with it, you want to open up your heart to the friends and by that you really want to be the Kli that includes all the desires and their goals.

S. But there is also a break between us.

R. Of course there are breaks.

S. How to overcome the break?

R. That is the whole thing we are studying, one shall help his friend until you want to kill each other and then overcome that, it is all in front and ahead of you.

S. It is not clear how to give the inspiration to the friends you said through the Creator, it is still not clear but if there is a feeling of study and then I tell the friends, should I do it or not?

R. There are a lot of details here, I can’t tell you in a word, think about the result to bring everyone closer to connection between them and the Creator in the middle.

54. S. (01:54:30) If each root has a seed and the seed is the practical correction or the correction of the will to receive?

R. The seed is the connection between us at the same point at one point.

55. S. (01:55:12) The direction you are giving us to connect with us and the Creator

or is it to attain the state of He and His name are one?

R. Yes, we are gradually coming closer to Him in that way. Good. You are grasping it correctly.

Reading continues: (01:55:43) “There is not one thing in the whole of reality…”

56. R. (02:00:47) What does he want to say, he explains that the Creator is one and even though all kinds of phenomena from Him come towards us that are different and separated, and we accept them in all kinds of ways in understanding and feeling, that they supposedly contradict that concept of one root for everything but that is actually only to bring us to attaining the one. That if we continue and want to connect them together, then we attain that one root and by this we establish ourselves because towards us, the created beings, these concepts are different but when we make efforts to bring them back to one root we reach that root and become like Him, one adhered to him.

Reading Item 2 (02:02:00)

57. R. (02:04:00) It is like what happens to us, let’s say when we turn on a radio, we have infinite waves in the air but by us dialing in, when I dial it in to perceive a certain wave although there are millions and millions of waves in the air, I only get that one wave I’m calibrated to and connect to it and from that, through that, I’m let’s say connected to the upper force, it is the same thing here.

Reading continues: (02:04:54) “And accordingly we should always distinguish…”

58. R. (02:05:36) These things are relatively understood to all.

Reading Item 3 (02:05:39)

59. R. (02:07:10) The question is clear, if the soul is part of Divinity from above how does it become a part, what separates a soul from the Creator? That I can annul that separation that it was separated from the Creator and bring it back to the Creator?

Reading Item 4 (02:07:39)

60. R. (02:09:54) I hope you’ll read it throughout the day and that it will become more clear.

Reading Item 5 (02:10:05)

61. R. (02:11:25) Meaning how can this soul come out of the Creator separate from him, in what does it separate and what does it move away and what is it opposite the Creator? How if we are to keep going, how it can come back and incorporate into the Creator again and reach its root in all its fullness, that is actually the question, that is what we want to happen.

Reading Continues: (02:11:58) “Indeed this question applies to the light of Ein Sof…”

62. R. (02:14:12) I see that you are tired and Moshe our faithful reader is also tired so by this we will end this reading.

63. S. (02:14:39) Want to ask you if you could help me with what is happening here because it is not that complicated,, not that spiritual also but if you can explain what was written?

R. Maybe without all these introductions, can you just ask.

S. It says like a spiritual thing is divided and cut by disparity of form what does it mean form?

R. That each and every one has his own certain will to receive that is why each one is separated from the other.

S. What is the disparity of form?

R. That is the form, the form of the will to receive.

64. S. (02:15:25) According to your advice yesterday I wrote a question based on the topic of TES, if you could elaborate on the bride and the wedding?

R. No, that has nothing to do with what we are reading now.

65. S. (02:16:04) What did the restriction make by making the soul separate from the Creator, he says that all of the various incidents come from one source, one force on the other hand that the soul is different and separated from the Creator?

R. It is a Divine part from above.

S. What is the soul?

R. The soul is the inner light and in the Partzuf that is called a soul because it is separated from everything from the Creator, by the will to receive in the Partzuf being partially corrected only in order to bestow and by this it is separated from the Creator.

S. What is the action of the restriction that the Creator did?

R. That first he restricted Himself and then the created being. If he wants to reach equivalence of form of the Creator and also wants to restrict his desire and reach a state that his will to receive will resemble the will to bestow of the Creator to the extent that he reaches such an equivalence of form, he starts feeling the Creator which is called that he attains the Inner Light.

66. S. (02:17:34) What does it mean that it is said that there is no thought that can perceive Him whatsoever?

R. That we cannot grasp the Creator but only in the light that expands from it, or it is more right to say that we absorb it according to the equivalence of our qualities and the light.

67. S. (02:18:12) You said we need to want this material to happen in us but I don’t understand how we can want this to happen in us if we are talking about a process that is before the formation of the will to receive?

R. Of course we are speaking about the will to receive and the greater the will to receive is and reaches equivalence of form with the light with the intention to bestow, according to that it resembles the light and can absorb the light, receive it.

68. S. (02:19:03) What we are reading now, do we need to search for these phenomena in the ten?

R. Also in a person himself and also in the ten.

69. S. (02:19:16) When we are talking about the created being, the emanated being we need to describe the ten?

R. Describe what?

S. The ten.

R. Of course but not the faces, the internality, their desires to connect, their desires for connection and to connect to the Creator.

70. S. (02:19:44) There is the feeling in the text that wasn’t there before, it is like suddenly It’s moved into us, how to leverage this feeling into more connection with his friends?

R. We constantly constantly need to translate the text of TES to be like the text in the articles that we can swallow, take inside and according to that organized the relationships between us and the Creator

71. S. (02:20:19) The time flies by where in previous times it was the opposite, what has changed?

R. It all depends on you as much as you understand that this is the main study. This is the true wisdom of Kabbalah because by this we are studying how the Creator made creation, how he organized it and how he brought it to our degree and what we can do in order to attain him. This study of the ten Sefirot is actually our spiritual guide, the articles we learned before that all goes around it. The main thing is the study of the ten attributes but again under the condition that we grasp it correctly, that in our study we try to keep those connections between us.

72. S. (02:21:34) On the other hand you asked whether the material is clear or more understandable or more felt. What does a student do if he doesn’t feel more or understand more?

R. Keep going, that is the remedy.

73. S. (02:21:50) Is the circle itself Ein Sof?

R. I do not want to get into this, you’ll just get confused. I think that’s enough for today.
