Connecting into One Ten – Selected Excerpts from the Sources. #17

1.Rav’s Introduction: Yes, connecting into a single ten. Each and every day we need to demand of ourselves to connect more and more together in one connection, in one ten that includes everyone. Truly this vessel will overcome, will crystallize, will connect, will finally come to a state where we will be in connection between us, from the side of the vessels, our desires, our intentions similar to the upper light that needs to be revealed there. Because the light appears in the vessel according to the equivalence of form with it. That is why we need to ask ourselves daily are we coming close to that state, to the bestowal between us, that degree between us, even the smallest degree which is similar to the light and then we will feel ourselves as connected and the light will fill us, and according to our inclination the light will connect us, arrange us and fill us.

So let’s imagine correctly this exalted state, where each day we are coming closer to one another internally. We complete one another in such a way that eventually each one through the general Arvut connects everyone, compliments everyone and embraces everyone and that is how we we come from the point of view of the vessel, at least in the first smallest degree we become similar to the light, that it comes and fills us. That from the side of the vessels we become similar to the Creator, and then we are rewarded with connection with Him according to the law of equivalence of form. So let’s ask ourselves as many times during the day and check ourselves, what else do we have to add for this condition?

2. S. (05:06) Back to your words that you said in the beginning that by our vessel we resemble the light in wanting to connect to the friends. How exactly?

R. We learned about it a long time ago. The vessel needs to resemble the light that fills it according to equivalence of form, that law meaning how can we do it? In the relationships between us when we connect to some degree of mutual bestowal we have to reach that same quality, that first quality that exists in the light. To bestow between us, to relate to each other in bestowal, with help, with attention. By that we need to cover the light, the Creator. So if we have friends, we have an environment, we can imagine here a spiritual quality meaning spiritual adhesion and to this extent we will resemble the upper light and then according to the law of equivalence of form it will enter us and fill us.

The more we will be able to connect internally we will be able to do it mutually. It doesn’t have to be felt on the outside, we are not hugging each other, we don’t take care of each other like we do with our babies. I did not see it when I was among Kabbalists and I also never saw it in the external form that is expressed this way. But later I saw that it does happen between them and each one has a very powerful, wide, far-reaching internal attention, attention towards the other. And they come to a state where they have the same tendency to be as a source of light for the friend. So it turns out. that by that they are building the infrastructure for the upper light to come and dwell among them.

S. We also discussed with the friends yesterday that the externality will not be so important but what is this inner direction that we want to resemble the light and think of the friends, care for the friends? What exactly is that direction?

R. This is each will help his friend, love your friend as yourself, all kinds of sayings, principles we get from the Kabbalists. There are many such lines that explain to us what should be the direction of our attitude towards one another and it is very difficult. And we need to try somehow to understand these conditions and come close to them although we have a great rejection from it. He who is greater than his friends his inclination is greater. So it turns out that we find it difficult even more than regular people. Just like the students of Rabbi Shimon who wanted to kill one another. Not such periods but actually changes in the relationships between the ascents and descents and attraction and repulsion. That’s how we learn until we see that we ourselves cannot hold onto these states and we break out in prayer, the sufficient prayer to correct the connection between us and in the connection between us reveals the Creator.

S. You said that we’re coming closer between us meaning each and every day we are supposed to be closer internally. How do we?

R. We don’t come closer. Did you demand it, did you want it, did you prepare yourself for it? Did you do certain actions, preparations, do you think about it? No. That is why before the lesson I speak about it in order to awaken everyone. So if to a small extent each one can add something with his attention to others, as much as we need to close all the gaps between us internally so that the Creator will be able to enter that infrastructure we are preparing for Him. It is not felt from the outside, completely not. It’s simply internal work, and that is the most important work. Therefore it’s called the wisdom of the concealed because it is concealed from others, from the whole world.

3. S. (11:23) What is the appreciation of the environment that Baal HaSulam writes about?

R. When I value my environment I accept in advance that my friends are in connection and love between them and only I perhaps am not feeling it, not understanding it, I don’t even feel it is missing. then I work on it, how to awaken my heart toward the friends in order to come closer to them more and more, and I lament it. Little by little, time after time we start to feel how it’s not working for me because eventually with these efforts we attain only one thing, I need it. I finally begin to understand that this is the vessel for the revelation of the Creator, the connection between us. The more we come closer between us we will be able to reveal Him with a greater power and so I need only to pay attention to that and to worry about that.

If I develop such an attitude then from that moment on I only think of how to grow the connection between us, how we enter such states of connection so it will simply be like some knitted fabric. We knit the fabric with a loom and we have to be connected together so the upper light will see an infrastructure, a vessel that He can fill. We’re fast approaching this, we’re in it a little bit and that’s why I’m speaking with you specifically now after going successfully through the Passover holiday. I see that it worked on us very well. Maybe you don’t feel very good but you will see it, truly so. Try to walk with me the way I recommend and you will see how potentially speaking, maybe not emotionally we are already outside of Egypt. We can begin to discover the force of bestowal between us.

S. Additionally it says that the friends should be great. In what way do I need to see them as great?

R. In their tendency towards connection, their help to one another in connection. These are the things in which I have to see the friends as doing more than me. I am the smallest, the littlest one among them.

4. S. (15:31) You basically answered already. Is it a personal action that each one needs to lower himself, nullify himself personally or is there some other principal?

R. I do not have to lower myself but rather I have to raise the friends in my eyes, that’s it. Simply try and see in each of them a good correct action, inclination, tendency for connection among everyone by creating such closeness between us to such an extent that the Creator can be revealed in it. After all everything should be aimed at the Creator, that we’re building this infrastructure for His revelation.

5. S. (16:32) What is the way to know how to complete the friend?

R. By showing him an example for how I yearn to be connected with him in order to reach adhesion with the Creator. That’s it.

6. R. (19:19) It‘s essentially the same direction, that specifically now after Passover we need to be aimed more and more to be as one in the direction of the vessel in which the Creator will be revealed.

R. The prayer is the aspect of the soul meaning it’s a deficiency in which the Creator is revealed in portions.

S. He writes that the words of the prayer can only be said through peace but prayer is for peace?

R. It’s a sort of connection.

8. S. (22:28) We read from a topic called connecting to a single ten and now we discuss connecting to one. Is it the same thing?

R. We connect to a ten as one to reach a state where one receives one.

S. So what does it mean in item 18 where it says connecting to a holy congregation? Do I need to hold this depiction in my mind?

R. You have to hold onto one thing in your head, connect with their friends in such a way that you will be suitable for the Creator, similar to the Creator. Try to pass it more through your emotions and not construct in your brain various systems and schematics, feeling.

9. S. (23:34) If you can elaborate on what we went through in this month of Passover, give us a kind of a summary. Because it’s not just that we went through connection and we’re facing connection, but what did we go through in this month? Where are we going now towards the Congress, just to organize us in terms of where we’re headed.

R. Our problem is that when we advance in building the vessel for the revelation of the Creator which is our work; to be Kabbalists we need to receive the revelation of the Creator’s creatures in this world and we are going through stages, stages of this acquaintance between us, recognition of our broken vessel. The Creator shines the light on these broken fragments so they would feel they have to connect, they have to gather, assemble. He performs all these actions on the broken vessels before they feel anything, just like babies who are born and then are cared for by us and then later they begin to participate with us more and more as a small child.

He needs to understand and feel more about the life in this world and he has all these stages of development and we are the same although we are grown-ups seemingly, but in spirituality we are at the beginning of our development. Thus we should hear what Kabbalists us and we should try to keep it and the relationships between us. Because the results of the spiritual development of each and every one should appear in the extent of the connection, the mode of the connection that he reveals in his group, in his ten first and foremost. Then we prepare the room for the revelation of the Creator which is truly our goal and when we begin to construct the place, the vessel we will begin to discover in it all kinds of qualities, lights, vessels, Reshimot and so on and so forth, and we’ll try to realize it practically.

So what we have done is gone through a certain stage like a newborn baby who is present but he still does not feel himself, who he is, who is caring for him. We are in that sense like the result of the Exodus from Egypt. That’s an approximation, don’t get confused because the Exodus from Egypt is called spiritual birth and in birth a person does not feel that he’s being born. It’s not that it’s going over him and he sees himself with understanding, practice. Rather later when he develops he understands that he was probably born and he was cared for and he finally got to a space where he understands that he is a little.

S. You said try to follow me as you recommend and you will see that potentially we are already outside of Egypt. So how do we go further with you, what do you recommend?

R. With me, I’m not sure what it means with me, simply follow the words. We have to take a few steps forward in the direction of the emotional, practical connection between us where we’ll begin to reveal certain spiritual phenomena. There are those who are prepared for it and those who are not yet ready for it or far away from it. It’s like in our world you see how in the same generation you have people who are here from zero, even before that inside their mother, and then they’re born and they develop further. We have to understand that there are among us all kinds of people who are going through all kinds of states and for each and everyone we have to try and give support and the reforming light.

S. How to develop the emotional connection in the ten, turn it from potential to emotional? It doesn’t matter what degree we’re on.

R. You should think more about how I depend entirely on the friends. I depend entirely on the friends. There is nothing to do, that is how the system is built, that’s how the Creator arranged things for us and what is there is there. I received it, I have to receive it and I need to advance with it, that’s it. You don’t change places, you don’t swap tens along the way because it seems to me this way today. No, I have to accept what is there and say thank you, bless the Creator and carry out my role.

S. What is the meaning of the dependence on the ten, that I depend on them. What does it mean?

R. Because through the ten I receive all the forces and the directions and I simply depend on them. That is how it is. Only through the ten. And inside the ten when we connect more and more we begin to discover how the connection between us begins to reveal the Creator. That’s to the extent that we try to be more united, and in this connection suddenly there appear upper qualities, and in general we call it the revelation of the Creator.

10. S. (31:03) In the previous excerpt he mentions the souls of Israel in relation to all the other souls. Ultimately he spoke about all the souls coming to a single unity and then coming to the Shechina. Does that mean that all the souls need to achieve the aspect of Israel?

R. Of course everyone will receive the intention to bestow, to connect between them and to bestow contentment to the Creator. Although among all the souls are those who come to it by themselves, meaning participation with the Creator, and that’s where they’re called Israel. There are those who come to it through simple participation, not through their efforts but everyone comes to this same thing, comes to be the vessel for the revelation of the Creator.

11. S. (32:27) In item 19 we just read it says at the end by the power of mutual responsibility each one corrects for the other. What does it mean that one corrects for the other, how does it work?

R. No one can correct himself, we read about it. No one is correcting himself but rather is correcting the others and each one does it for everyone else. This is the matter of the Arvut, the matter of obligation, the Arvut so you would keep it between us. Because according to nature we broke, none of us can correct himself and we learn about it later. In my Reshimot I have the degree of connection I had with the other, with the friend and I correct my connection with him. In other words I similarly do the work in order to connect to him, to do something, to perform an act that is more accurate, more corrected, to do an action in his place. He’s doing it, let’s say in my place and then the connection between us comes out like knitting and that’s how we’re connected.

S. How to not be confused with this action that one corrects for the other and that I need the correction like we read in Rabash. That I’m not supposed to correct the friend but that I hurt the love of friends and need to be corrected?

R. What appears to me as a flaw in the friend is a flaw in me on the one hand. On the other hand when I’m going over the correction of all the flaws, this correction happens when I connect to the friend. In short I always see my own flaws but in others. Words, we will find them soon.

12. S. (35:22) In my attempts of connection in the group I think I am lacking specific force from the Rav and the Creator. How to?

R. To ask. Ask, there’s nothing more and then you will find it. You’re close to it.

13. S. (36:01) Recently we say this, connecting during the lesson, the ten connects during the lesson. Is there any difference between connection in general and connection during the lesson, what does that mean?

R. During the lesson, especially the morning lesson, it could be in the evening but it is very important since this is the time where we’re all together. We’re a big vessel, thousands of people in one direction speaking about one action, learning from one source. And it awakens the upper light at a great intensity and it influences us and advances us very quickly, very quickly. You might be thinking where is our progress, and in general I understand your complaints, I went through all these things. But on the other hand we are advancing very nicely, the pace is satisfactory, truly.

S. Look there is some method that everyone would come when he could and connect for the ten and maybe also during the lesson?

R. No, no. This I learned from Baal HaSulam and Rabash and it’s impossible. A lesson has to be a lesson where everyone shows up and for 2 or 3 hours we all take part in the study together with intention, with the same material and we advance in the same pace, day in and day out. We do not miss any day. In addition to that you have additional hours throughout the day where you can fill them with other sources from Baal HaSulam and Rabash, each one alone or connecting in the groups to do it. Why not? But the lesson is a must. Because each lesson you receive a portion from above and this portion is divided and it spreads out among Bnei Baruch on that day, and you cannot miss it and if you miss it you have a problem. One of these days you will discover all those missed lessons. You can come and sleep during the lesson, you can sleep. We had such cases with us as well when people came and couldn’t keep themselves up because of how tired they were, but you must be present.

14. S. (39:42) When we summarize Passover in our ten, also when a friend who didn’t do something in a complete way feels it even in terms of his health care and life. You said we’re not supposed to suffer from spiritual work but Rabash would point to himself and say let it suffer relating to the suffering of the body and also to you he said you can’t imagine what benefit you have from that.

R. We need to advance in a good, beautiful way, in a beautiful feeling, physically, emotionally, spiritually. Whatever happens we should accept it with love.

15. S. (40:45) The effort that I do in the ten is the correction that helps correct the friends?

R. Of course. No one corrects anything for himself personally only for the general vessel. It is as if I’m looking at the entire vessel and I see where there are additional flaws but why am I seeing those flaws? Because I need to correct them. There are a billion other flaws that I cannot see and won’t be able to see. I need to correct only that which I see, and it’s on me to correct it and the others it is something else.

16. S. (42:09) You also mention this knitting or weaving that we do. So how do we correct it and do this knitting?

R. We try to complete, to fill all those distances between us. That is how we correct it.

17. S. (42:46) Even if I see deficiencies or flaws in me I put it aside hoping that it will be corrected somehow by itself. Or I think I already did what I could and it is hard for me to understand if I am accelerating or stopping internally in dissemination. Can I diagnose levels of progress in that and see if I can add or not?

R. If it was to our benefit to see we would see but because we can corrupt our attitude towards the correction we are kept from seeing it. So it is preferred that we do not see the results of our actions or otherwise we will become proud, lazy, making calculations of what is worthwhile and what is not worthwhile. Rather whatever they give us we should live off of that.

S. I remember I heard from you that if we had such strong desires like the rich who want to control the world, they are willing to destroy everything in the world just to maintain control. How to acquire such powerful desires, desires like in Egypt?

R. You see the desires, they exist, you have an example. We want to have such great desires inside of us but for the correction of the world. Let’s hope that we will receive them. We’ll succeed soon.

18. S. (45:12) If I heard correctly that we can draw light for the others, how do we do it practically?

R. The fact that I correct my connection with the friend, the reforming life comes to that, and the filling comes to both of us. To some degree it comes to me and to some extent it comes to him. We will learn how we are doing it in our common vessel and each one, which way he’s in it and participating in it. We will learn about it. Not yet, it will confuse us.

19. S. (46:08) If I feel today that I advance, that I feel the friend more, the greatness of the goal means it’s thanks to the friends and I haven’t done anything in this direction?

R. You may have done something but annul yourself towards the friends. Your advancement is only through the friends and your advancement is by annulling yourself towards the friends.

S. About inner connection between us you gave an example that you saw in Kabbalists, an inner attitude between one to another and not necessarily external actions. How did you see the inner attitude, how did you see it if it’s not expressed?

R. When you are among those people you can see it even in the usual way like we live here. You feel an attitude, a changed attitude according to various external signs and even without those external signs you feel. You begin to feel not only according to his body but according to his inner inclinations, it is all natural, that is how we feel. Animals feel it too, this belongs to the animate degree.

21. S. (50:38) Also according to this excerpt that the Creator dwells among them and also in the previous item, it is very moving that we will be under the influence of the Creator all the time. How can you be in the ten under his influence all the time?

R. When we feel according to the degree of connection between us and the ten,the Creator is dwelling among us, He is managing us, directing us. We will feel the degree of connection with him out of connections between us.

S. Some collective feeling?

R. Yes, it’s like when you’re putting together a system and when it’s all connected now depends on the level in which it is connected; according to that level of connection, you have connection between all of the components more and more so the form of connection and accordingly you discover a force that dwells among them, which is the Creator.

S. You start thinking about the friends during the lesson, you’re trying to dissolve in the ten, what does it mean that you feel the authority of this force?

R. Try to connect with them, to be inside of them, to be dissolved and diluted in them. Then in this way you begin to feel that you have a certain feeling of, not the group, the force that is in the group, the spirit that is in the group, this is the Creator.

22. S. (54:50) You said the one who nullifies himself basically advances; on the other hand, you said we always need to be in the state where we cannot do that, so is that deficiency progress?

R. Yes, if I cleave to the friends, I always feel that I have a deficiency, I’m not yet adhered to them, I still owe them.

S. Yes but on the other hand, the annulment gives greatness, importance of the goal. But if it’s lacking how do you add to that?

R. Like a baby, annul before the great ones, the grown-ups. Try but only from the point of the connection in the group then you will see that you have always want to add and that you are advancing until you begin to feel, to sense that force that is dwelling in the group.

23. S. (55:42) The excerpt talks about how the friends help each other; that the inferior ones also gain Kedusha, how do you help that happen?

R. Example, the main thing is showing an example.

24. S. (56:13) I also wanted to ask about this matter of the inferior, “ those of inferior degree assist their friends in gaining more Kedusha and attaining more”. Can you say that specifically a difficulty their friend has and overcomes that this benefits the ten?

R. Yes, we need to pay attention to those people who are new, who are not as successful in spiritual advancement, seemingly, the way it appears to us. It is written “be aware of the children of poor people because the Torah will come out of them”, specifically people who are not advancing so nicely. They feel how much difficulty they have, they get stuck, they don’t understand what they need to do, they don’t understand we have to be connected in the group, in the ten, what does it mean to be connected, what does it mean the Arvut? It is hard for them, it’s hard, you have to understand that these things appear in this way.

Meaning the lack of strength for connection, for advancement and it comes from the fact that they have these heavy vessels, coarse vessels that don’t let them advance so easily. It is written that “beware of children of poor people because the Torah will come out of them”, specifically because they’re trying, they are advancing nevertheless; but let’s say, they don’t understand why we have to connect, what does it mean ‘faith above reason’? Others grasp it fairly easily, a little bit here, a little there and you have those who can barely, barely somehow understand something, feel something. So don’t be disappointed, rather keep going, each one has a place in the end of correction. We just have to keep going and specifically those who feel that it is difficult for them, that it’s hard for them to grasp those spiritual discernments, they will advance and they will reach far.

25. S. (01:01:52) What intention should I have right now in the lesson?

R. You want the Creator to help you to connect to the ten, you are certain that if you will be connected with the ten, you will find there all the corrections and all the feelings you needed since outside of you the ten is in correction, the end of correction. But what you’re lacking is to connect to them, receive from them the correction of your vessels and in the filling of your vessels. that’s it.

S. What to do with what is happening on the outside?

R. I did not get it.

R. You’re studying them with your ten and above all these materials you wish to connect to the ten, be adhered with them and cause an ascent.

29. S. (01:08:31) In Passover, we went through many details. What will make everything we learned more tangible and realistic? How can we remember all the details we have learned?

R. We don’t have to remember anything, we have to simply move forward from where we are right now, forward, as if this is the beginning and there is nothing before that beginning status, we are starting. On that it says, “this should be as new in your eyes”, clear?

S. Is this work we need to do in the ten or should we be careful and be considerate about what’s happening in other tens?

R. No, the main thing is my ten, my ten. If I will reach adhesion in my ten even to a small extent, I will already know how to connect to other tens. Then we will have another stage in the process, in the time being, it’s my ten. I need to study together with them, I need to try to be connected with them. But to actually work with another ten or a second or a third, no it is too early. You need to see it according to your state.

S. What is our close goal as the world Kli, the nearest goal?

R. Connecting into tens as much as we can in the close way as ten, and then all tens start becoming one ten, that’s it. I hope that this Congress that is coming up, this American Congress, will help us just a bit more connected above our tens.

S. So I have to pray in order to get the light in my vessel?

R. Let us say that.

31. S. (01:13:35) It is still not clear about the flaw that I see in a friend, should I ask for my vision to be corrected or for the friend to be corrected?

R. You see the flaw and you’re asking for the correction of seeing the flaw in the friend because outside of a person there is only the upper light, the Creator and the fact that I see before me now, you could all see this general screen, how many people do you have there. I need to say I do not see those images, those characters, this is a special presentation of the Creator presenting himself to me and if I were to relate to in love and bestowal to them without any connection to me then I would actually reveal the appearance of the Creator before me. Like that.

32. S. (01:15:00) You said we were already born but we still don’t feel it. What are the points between us, the stepping-stones between us and what should be our prayer?

R. I don’t really understand what she is asking, annulled before what I see and realize that this is the manifestation of the Creator before me.

33. S. (01:15:29) What is the right reason to be adhered to the Creator?

R. The right reason is what happens to me in the soul when I yearn for adhesion with him, it is the root of the soul which awakens me and pulls me in this way.

R.
