Passover – Selected Excerpts from the Sources. (I am He, and Not the Messenger #247)
1.Rav’s Introduction: This is precisely the topic of the lesson I am not a messenger that we have to gather all of our impressions from life, from the presence of man, the society, the world and ascribe all of these things only to the Creator that it all comes from Him and He is the one who executes it and arranges everything around us he is the world and all of us exist inside of him and as much as we depict to ourselves in that way and we try to see him in each and every action each and every place and deed then by that we come closer to a state called the ‘exodus from Egypt. The moment that we try to identify that there is None Else Besides Him and in the good and also in the bad and both the bad and the good actually start becoming connected seemingly. That they’re coming from a single source in that we come closer more and more to a connection with the Creator and His rule over us. Let’s read the excerpt and let’s see how much we are arranging ourselves in a uniform corrected way aimed toward the single force in nature and how much He and only He is arranging us from both directions. From the bad force and the good force and He does one opposite the other in order for us begin between the two of them to find our place, our correct place and us to determine our direction, our order because we as created beings don’t have that but rather only from the two opposing forces there we can establish ourselves so please.

2. R. (03:20) This means as much as we try with each and every detail in our life to see the upper directed hand and to ascribe ourselves to that and to respond correctly towards that, by this we actually prepare ourselves to the Exodus from Egypt to exiting the single force and entering the one unique and unified force. The fact that we once existed in the feeling of the egoistic force that only it works on us and controls us that too was that one single force that there is None Else Besides Him but we need now to want to determine that there is the opposite force, the bad force and the good force and the good force is actually in the foundation of our reality and it creates the bad force as it is written, I have create the evil inclination. Now we want to make an effort in order to determine that there is no bad force in the world but there is only a single force which is complete whole, and it brings the whole of reality also to a complete form by showing all of us how much it only exists. When we correct our impressions from the bad things and we bring them to the revelation of the good so that everywhere, wherever I see that it seems to me that it is bad, people, nature, I myself those who are close to me or far away from me wherever I see that towards me or in general in the world there is bad behavior I nevertheless need to tie this to the There is None Else Besides Him and to the good force. The fact that I see the bad is because I am yet not corrected, and this is what I have to correct. We will learn these things even more and we will enter into this whole work in detail in order for us for it to be more clear to us where we exist and how the Creator is influencing us so that he is actually the good for us but he is awakening here and there all kinds of discernment that are opposite of him so that we will do the opposite we will search for how instead of whatever appears to us as bad we can bring these states to good, we can connect everything to Him. We will see this, we will try to do it together, but this actually brings us closer to the Exodus from Egypt. What does the Exodus from Egypt? That we will discover that There is None Else Besides Him, and I am not a messenger that the world is all good and all the bad exist only in us it all happens only inside people.
3. S. (06:55) Rabash writes in the article the redeeming force for his concern for us is that I need to discover that it’s me and not a messenger that there’s no other force than the Creator so why did they have to create Egypt?
R. If you inside of Egypt can discover something you’re wrong. You have to run away from these forces that rule over you This is called The Exodus from Egypt it’s not a physical exit. There is no place but rather the fact that you become under this evil control that speaks inside of you that there is an evil force and in order to determine the correct form you have to come out of to distance yourself to run away from the rule of that force this is called the Exodus from Egypt. You don’t physically move; you move internally in that you don’t want to accept him as the one who rules over reality.
S. When you can relate in such a way to this force it means that you are discovering the good that does good?
R. Yes certainly, that There is None Else Besides Him. That inside Pharaohs existed the Creator and he was managing him, organizing him in order to create all kinds of discernments and desires and thoughts in order to arrange our mind in such a way that there are two authorities. First, one authority which is Pharaoh and then two authorities, and then only a single authority, the Creator, By that he prepares us for His revelation
4. S. (09:01) What is the action that I have to do in order to correct a desire, what is the principle?
R. In order to correct the desire you have to reach a prayer to the Creator that he will correct the desire because everything is in his hands in order to come closer to the Creator and to ask of Him to correct the desire you have to be in a group and more or less together with the group or out of the group at least you turn to Him, and you ask.
S. What about the desire that is hard for me to distance myself that I keep fighting for years from this desire? Do I have to pray for it?
R. Believe me that you don’t have such desires that you cannot distance yourself from them. It will happen, it will happen.
5. S. (10:39) I see bad things that are coming into the world, and I’m supposed to depict how the good intention of the Creator behind it is? How can I see these things are coming from a good place that the Creator wanted to do good actually do I have a chance all together to do such a thing, to manage such a thing?.
R. You have to try all the time to bring the Creator into your picture.
6. S. (11:15) It is written that a new king rose upon Egypt, and he enslaved Israel in a matter and bricks is the meaning of bricks and mortar the left and the right?
R. Why do you care about that right now? The fact that you are asking about mortar and bricks we didn’t read about for the time being here. We are discussing something else. What kind of confusion are you now creating in the heads of the friends?
S. Sorry I thought that it was inclusive in the material.
R. You have to be a bit more in control about what you are asking and how does it affect everyone. You are already a veteran, and you have to think about the general perception. You can ask one thousand and one things here but the fact that you are not talking about them right now then we’re not talking about them that’s it.
7. S. (12:31) If a state of I and not a messenger and the Creator comes and operates, so why does there still remain a transgression, why are there still degrees of evil after that?
R. Because not everything is revealed, everything is revealed according to the degree, according to portions, portions, and portions, this is how it is. Therefore whatever you discover in them in the present degree, and you summarize it, it’s just a reason for the next higher degree to be revealed to you and then you discover that you were entirely not corrected. This is the nature of the degrees. This is how we advance because what we correct today, what we went through today somehow, this gives us the possibility to be on a higher degree. Maybe it seems to us as though it’s the same but no, it is a higher degree, and we have to cope with it as though yesterday nothing happened. Sometimes new things are revealed to us as disturbances and sometimes it’s the same as they were before but it’s not the way they were before, every day a person is a new person.
8. S. (14:07) it seems like maybe we don’t understand all the way what it is to exit Egypt. What does it mean?
R. We don’t understand what it is, actually to exit the control of Pharaoh means that you discover that there is no other control in the world but only a single one and this is the upper force that was operating on you seemingly from both directions and now he is revealed as a single force. We will learn more about it but actually roughly this is how it is. Therefore toward the Exodus from Egypt we begin already to see that we have before us, it becomes revealed more and more this single image which is the Creator. He does everything, he carries out everything and we have to turn to him to be dependent on him even though sometimes behind the scenes we discover that there is also something else here that is pushing us and really knocking us, pulling us to all kinds of actions that are against the Creator’s desire. They’re not actions of bestowal, not actions of connection but in that we discover that we are already truly in actions that are opposite to the Creator.
9. S. (15:58) How to sort it where it’s written “I and not a messenger” and it’s also written “leave me and keep my Torah”?
R. That we have to keep the laws that there is None Else Besides Him established in reality and it is all in order for us to discover him in all the details, but incidences and also in general, using and keeping these laws bring us to the understanding and the feeling and the adhesion with the Creator.
10. S. (16:55) It’s not clear whether the Exodus from Egypt is a short period of ego that’s increasing or a moment of exit and then it comes back to being concealed in two forces?
R. We can’t talk about that in a priori, it is desired that it will go over us a little bit and then we will see the process itself. The process is actually that something and its opposite are revealed like all of the spiritual phenomena, spirituality cannot be revealed without the opposite of what is being revealed as the advantage of light out of darkness. First there is darkness and upon it there is the advantage of light, this is how we discover it and so we need to be patient, keep our connections meticulously and all the time to think that the Creator is before us and that we are yearning to reach him. He more and more enters in our mind and heart; He controls us, and we are ready for that control, and we want to lose ourselves inside of Him. Meaning to keep the laws of connections and mutual bestowal in our group as much as possible, and even more and in this way out of that, out of our subjugation, we will start to discover how he is working on us. We will start out of the will to receive that was controlling us earlier, we will start to discover the force of bestowal. This is how the Creator is revealed and then we will see how much of the bad force that He created, it was all the right infrastructure in order to discover Him, Himself.
S. We have no concept of what the Exodus of Egypt is so what shall we depict, there’s all kinds of these things to grip onto?
R. To be in the exodus from Egypt means to be in the force of bestowal so that He rules us, that we are drawn to Him, we are also afraid of Him, we are fearful of Him, and we reject Him a little bit, but we still are drawn to Him. To see that all of the forces of nature internal ones inside of us and all the external conditions they actually aim us toward exiting our ego and becoming incorporated in the friends and that’s coming out of exiting Egypt to Israel.
11. S. (20:22) To continue your words and what you said before we are supposed to be aimed to the Creator by both directions and actually find our own way. What is to find our own place each day anew?
R. That I want to be in the center of the group and then for sure I’m advancing toward the Creator, that is all. There is no more practical form than to do it.
S. How is it, that I am not a messenger does not erase the existence of Pharaoh but leaves him and I and not a messenger comes to Him?
R. Pharaoh accompanies them until the Exodus from Egypt and then he shuts the door behind them, they work together, Pharaoh and the Creator.
S. If everything is from the Creator and there’s only None Else Besides Him in every state, how does Pharaoh remain existing?
R. Pharaoh is an assisting force to the Creator because without Him the Creator cannot rule in the created beings because the created beings exist in a will to receive which is completely detached from the Creator and through Pharaoh the Creator can rule the created beings.
S. On behalf of the creature when he discovers that there is None Else Besides Him?
R. When he discovers that, that is something else already, we are not talking about that, but he discovers it. We are talking about the created being, beginning to discover that there is a positive force in creation and how does he accept this positive force on top of the negative force, maybe he’s confused between the two of them.
S. Is it just the beginning of some positive force there or is there the Creator and Pharaoh below him?
R. No it is revealed in such a way that the created beings have to sort all of these things, but they become clarified, they do become clear. Just continue in the direction of connection between us and towards the general force of bestowal, rise above me. Each and every one should rise above himself as much as possible and live in that inside of our great group, and this already brings us out of Egypt.

12. R. (24:00) This is the most important point that on the one hand a person discovers that he has a very big desire to exit in order to receive because it is not truth, it is temporary, it is a form of development that I went through. I already attained that this is just the first part of my development the revelation of evil, the revelation of the evil inclination and now I have to establish myself to some extent in the good inclination, in faith above reason, in the connection between the friends. I feel each time being pulled in the opposite direction, I want to move forward, and I feel myself being pulled backwards and I am not capable of exiting towards connection with the friends. It says it is unrealistic, he will have the strength to overcome the will to receive which is my nature but only the Creator can give a second nature.

13. R. (26:23) This means that we have to work in that to put in forces, as much as possible to try and exit to the force of bestowal as much each one of us can imagine to himself what is the force of bestowal and then we reach a state where we are not capable of it but it is through a great effort and this revelation that only the Creator can do it. It is not a simple revelation, I can’t just sit and say oh the Creator is Almighty, there is none else besides him, he is good and doing good, the Lord is one, and so on. This is not enough for me just to hear all of these slogans but rather I have to reach them as a result of my exertion, that I exerted, I labored and I found, this is what we call that I discover that the end of my exertion, that only the Creator does it and if I will not reach this despair and the necessity on the other hand, that the Creator must help me then I do not run away from the battle, so I don’t run away from the campaign even though I’m certain that I cannot do anything in it. On the other hand I’m certain that the Creator can do it, it’s just that I have to reach the final despair of my own forces and then it happens so this outcry of mine, it gives the Creator the push to help me, that I am ready for his help.
14. S. (28:16) What is the meaning of exiting Egypt and entering the hearts of the friends, what is the action that allows us to get together between our hearts?
R. What is this action that we speak of Arvut, if the most important is the Arvut, that each helps his friend. We should think about each and every one of us is he connected inside of the society and disconnecting from himself and connected to the society, so that the society, his group is his heart, his mind, his head, and he becomes incorporated there and on his own he has nothing besides whatever there is in the society is the common mind and heart. Ny that he annuls himself towards the society and through that he becomes as one man with one heart. Such exercises each and every one has to do by himself, with himself, how much he doesn’t have besides the common heart and a common brain of the society he has nothing. Only by the attaining of the single mind, single heart for everyone do they come out of Egypt and then they start to correct their minds and hearts outside of Egypt through all kinds of actions. These are already details about how to tie themselves together and reach the system of Adam.
15. S. (30:30) My messenger is you. So what should be my position to my messenger and the Creator?
R. You should listen to what I say, you should read what Baal HaSulam and Rabash write and with all of these things you have to arrange your appeal through the friends together with the friends to the Creator. All in all this is what we have to do.
16. S. (31:25) In what do we determine there is None Else Besides Him, in action or intention, there are many actions that we do, and I discover that my intention is always corrupted, there are many stages to do, the deeds, the intentions?
R. I don’t know how you divide it, or others divide it but there is None Else Besides Him will be determined, it will be determined there is None Else Besides Him, that’s it, there is nothing else besides him. As much as I am broken and scattered, well each one imagines to himself whatever way it comes to him but the most important is that the force that works on us, that we have to reach, from all the different cells, the different hearts, the different forces, all of our thoughts, it should all be as there is None Else Besides Him as one and this one is a force of bestowal.
S. Is that the expression between us through the actions that we’re doing all day long from the morning lesson to all the actions that we do. The very fact that the person does these actions does it show that he is deciding there is None Else Besides Him?
R. Well that too is something but the most important is which actions, internal ones, or external ones, does he try to perform these actions in his hearts or are these only physical actions and that too is good. We need to see how much our actions work on our hearts, that I more and more lose the feeling of my individual heart and I depict to myself our general collective heart, our common desire that it is truly working with heartbeats of its own and in its filling there is a relation to a single Creator out of our one heart and out of this heart we begin to yearn to the Creator and we receive a response from him.
S. How do you coerce the heart? How do you coerce the heart to feel what it should?
R. Only through intentions, thoughts, persistence. It’s a desire.
17. S. (34:30) In our common heart that we’re discovering between the friends, what is the response of the Creator to which we expect?
R. We want to discover in our common hearts an attitude, a relation towards the Creator which is common and that each one adds to the friends and that we help each other to bring together all of the circumstances, all of the supporters so that they’re all directed together in the connection between us and towards a single Creator. To make out of our hearts like a bouquet, a collection of our hearts that gradually merge, they gather into a single heart and that heart we want to serve it to the Creator. This actually is our action.
S. Does it mean that we want to present it to the Creator?
R. It means to be as one man in one heart and that heart is the desire that we want the Creator to manage this desire, to organize it, to format, to fill it.
S. And how does he control this desire?
R. The way that he manages our heart we don’t know, and we don’t care about it, what matters to us is the result that we want that our heart will be in his hands and that he will make out of all of our hearts, all of our desires by gathering them and connecting them and correcting them in a single force, into a single desire, this is the desire to be together in bestowal towards him.
S. And we can really come in the ten to this common desire, to truly have the same desire commonly?
R. Yes, certainly. This is called as one man and one heartbeat; they are not just some nice words but rather it’s an action.
17. S. (37:20) If we will take all of the contradictions into a single place will that become this one heart?
R. It could be that yes but that is something the Creator does, we don’t need to start collecting all the contradicted desires in our hearts and try to arrange them as each things in different ways that are corrupted to start with, after all everything is corrupted to start with and therefore we ascribe everything to the Creator this is called he who makes peace in the heavens shall make peace upon us. He will bring us the connection of our hearts to perfection, to wholeness. How is this possible? That I don’t know, I just know that He is capable of doing it and will do it if I truly ask. I need to ask despite the fact that I don’t know how it’s done, how He does it, I have no forces or intellect for this. When He does this then from his action it’s called from your actions we know you, then I will scrutinize it and examine and understand what is done here and I will incorporate with those corrections. Therefore to the extent in which our hearts are different, alien, contradicted with greatest desires that are contradicted, we will see how they can connect together and actually complete one another. This is not our work; our work is just to pray for this to happen. Our war is not between us, our war is the evil inclination of each and every one to raise the prayer to the Creator to connect our hearts.
S. At that moment when this inversion occurs can we call it judgment to a certain degree?
R. You may be right, but I exactly do not know. At the same time that it happens, what inversion takes place, I do not know. The question is not clear.
S. When the heart becomes a loving heart?
R. I also didn’t understand, say a sentence from the beginning to the end that’s clear.

S. But what should that friend show the friend in that state, how can you show them that he is holding onto There is None Else Besides Him, what kind of an example?
R. We need to accept him to start with, even preemptively and that the Creator is with us, and He is with us, and he is trying as much as possible In None Else Besides Him.
20. S. (43:29) Is there such a Kli, or a means by which I lower Pharaoh and all of his other messengers, and I elevate the Creator?
R. In my efforts I need to not lower Pharaoh and not relate to creation in a higher or lower way but rather just raise the Creator above them all. To the extent in which all those details other than the Creator begin to take on their true place. That they exist only in order to build the image of the Creator before me. It’s only it all exists towards me and truthfully there is nothing but me and the Creator.

21. R. (45:31) Meaning that all of our preparation for the exit from Egypt is for us to prepare ourselves to see there is but one upper force in reality and that there is None Else Besides Him.

R. That’s a question that awakens in many people. It’s written about that one who prays for his friend
merits first, is rewarded first. You have external vessels and internal vessels and your external vessels you feel the world as more external, and in your internal vessels you feel yourself. It is desirable to start with the external vessels. The concern for others will establish you correctly to build for the Creator and also for yourself. And slowly slowly, gradually you will see what you need to do in truth and receive from the Creator in truth.
26. S. (50:18) It says here that serving the King is an immeasurable pleasure. What is this pleasure of serving the king?
R. Where we discovered the desire of the Creator in a true way, according to our degree of course, and we can serve this desire to exist then we begin as a transition towards the upper light that will bestow through us to all the created beings, and this is how we observe the desire of the Creator to fill all the creatures to reveal himself to all the creatures. We truly get along in this way with Him together. We are truly Incorporated with Him.
S. We become Incorporated with Him as some kind of a force that is between us?
R. Without us he cannot transfer his good bestowal to all the created beings, we are on the way each of us is a small conduit, a small pipe through which the upper light like blood in the body cannot stream or flow toward those cells they are not capable of being otherwise connected to the Creator.
27. S. (52:06) What is the process in order to see our lowliness?
R. Just work, work, and try and try to be the connecting force between everyone and the Creator and between the Creator and everyone, and then you will see how capable you are and how incapable you are, and you will recognize the measure of loneliness.
28. S. (52:42) What are the things that we gain from The Exodus of Egypt?
R. We take from that state called Egypt all our desires in reception and we take them from Egypt. We can collect them, we can accumulate them, we can put them into a box or a sack of ours, not associate ourselves with those desires completely but rather to know that they belong to us that we are exiting Egypt in order to correct our attitude towards them and upon this new attitude of mine towards them of attaining the Creator and being the Creator’s servants, therefore we need all these desires which are the desires of Egypt and take them with us. Outside of Egypt we attained all the restrictions, desires to process, the desires of Egypt and this is how we bring contentment to the Creator and reach the degree of the Creator. Therefore in all the good actions that we do outside of Egypt we say in remembrance of the Exodus of Egypt. Where the foundations, like after the shattering, we discover the shattered pieces, correct them through the restriction, the screen, the reflected light and fill them with the revelation of the Creator in the upper light. This way more and more until we come to a state by which from above there is an action called Rav Pealim Mekabtziel which collects all of them together and then we come to a complete redemption. The complete redemption from Egypt we’re at the end of the exit from Egypt, it is at the end of correction.
29. S. (55:16) If we ask all those who call themselves a student of Rav we will say that Rav succeeds in giving a perception of None Else Besides Him, why don’t we manage to see each and every friend this way as we see Rav?
R. I don’t think that we have friends who are not as an example of the force of bestowal, connection, and concern and at least less than me, I actually don’t feel that I’m more than you. I’m willing to learn from you more and more, so it’s simply the ego, your ego that’s in you as usual it corrupts it but it’s not that in each of you there is, Rabash writes there many sparks of sanctity in each and every friend and if only we gather them together we already come to great corrections. So we need to work on this.
30. S. (56:40)The transition of getting to know, is there a difference between passing through and cooking out of Egypt?
R. We can’t talk about that for the time being, no. The exit from Egypt we are not standing in front of a wall, but on the contrary, the door is open to us, and they are letting us leave. we need to scrutinize these discernments.

34. S. (01:01:41) It says in the last excerpt that everything is in the hands of the Creator, but it also says it is in our hands. So where is the effort that we can make in order to connect? Are we passed that, and we just need to want that the Creator will do that for us?
R. We are certainly in need of being with all our energy and force to effort in order to obligate the Creator to do for us. You heard? We need to do all the actions possible so that the Creator will do everything for us. We need to connect between us, appeal to him, do all that is possible in order for him to want to connect us, and correct us.
35. S. (01:03:08) Why does he call here to the signs from the Creator, he calls it wholeness?
R. The knowledge of the Creator is called that we know the lights and the Kelim that fill all his actions and that I cannot attain the Creator unless I attain unless I can only obtain his actions toward me therefore the Creator is called BoReh, come and see, that what you can grasp that what you can understand, feel and understand, this is called that you know the Creator and not that you attain some upper force as it is on its own, not in relation to you. That you will never be able to attain. We only attain the attitude of the Creator towards us, that’s it just like a baby doesn’t know what Mommy is, a little child doesn’t know what his mother is, he just knows what his mother is towards him. That’s how we are towards the Creator therefore we called him BoReh, come and see, to words, very precise definitions.
36. S. (01:04:41) The attainment of the Creator is what the Kabbalist attains before us, and we can follow them?
R. The attainment of the Creator is according to the council of the Kabbalists that have already done so we try to do it to continue with our will to receive which is different and we are living in a different period of time. Meaning in the general revelation of the shattered system of Adam HaRishon and we therefore discover him in a different way than before. I would say any more shattered way but with that we discover greater corrections.

Then more problems come so the connection as it was disappearing, gets confused and I need to make more efforts to bring it to another connection, love, completion as much as I can because these efforts for me are a prayer. And then I ask of the Creator, “Make a connection between us,” and he makes the connection. Number two more powerful, more internal, and he’s revealed in this connection in a clear way and then we get everything we are talking about, the light of Ruach, first it was Nefesh, then Ruach, then Neshama, until we discover that we are all connected together, that’s why the light that’s revealed is the light of Yechida and then our ten is whole. R. To connect the one desire that we need to be connected as one towards the Creator. Without connecting between us we can’t connect to the Creator. Without connecting to the Creator we will not come out of Egypt, and we will remain as beasts. We want to be connected to the Creator called Adam, that resembles the Creator. It’s only if we connect between us, even to the smallest degree.
72. S. (02:23:24) We do sometimes keep customs like on Passover. We learned at Baal HaSulam used to keep it. How to relate to that correctly?
R. We need to perform the signs to us staying away from in order to receive. According to the sages, that determines according to the connections between this world and the spiritual world and what these signs can symbolize our will to receive to uplift above our ego. That’s why the signs of Passover, not to do this, not to do that, it only symbolizes externally that we want to come out of the desire to receive, that’s it. So whoever can let them, something, whoever can’t doesn’t have to do it. The main thing is the work in the heart.
